    • Excellent starter lathe
If you're not certain about buying into a larger wood lathe, this little lathe is a good choice. Yes, it has issues as a lathe at this price point would expect to have but it works fine. The setup took about 15 minutes and in another 30 minutes, I'd created a mahogany handle I needed. Super easy to get started. The cons are that it is cheap and the piece loosens up steadily. You will need to tighten the hold by turning the end knob a little bit every 5 minutes or so. The build is low-end so don't expect this to last years and years. The chisel it comes with is total junk but because of the lathe's size, any Stanley style chisel will work. As always with this sort of thing, wear eye protection and a mask. That wood dust gets into your lungs. I'm very happy with this little lathe. It's exactly what I wanted for the little bit of turning I will be doing. ... show more

    • Great Mini Lathe
I was very hesitant to order this lath because of the low price and the low 100 watt motor. I have done a quite a bit of lathe work in the past but I am NOT a experienced lathe person. I am currently building a large Grandfathers Clock from scratch using set of poor plans so it is being a new experience. I am a very experienced woodworker and have built many furniture items in the past 65 years and decided to build a very detailed grandfathers clock with a German movement, so it will take a while. I will be using this Mini lathe to turn some decorative for the front of the case, wish me luck.     • Not bad for what it is.
Bought 2 of them. I leave one setup with the saw blade and the other with the chuck. Adequate for what I need. But have a 12" metal lathe and a smaller 6" bench metal lathe for larger work. I use it for luthier work.
