Instructions state it takes 30-60 seconds to heat up and then 3-5 seconds of pressing on bag. Mine takes a good five minutes before it heats up and I've been pressing it for 10 seconds to get a seal. Really works. Plug it in and press. That simple. I open my bag of chips from a corner and when done just press it close to reseal. I tried it on thin sandwich bags and it just melts the plastic so don't use it on those but foil bags works like a breeze. I'm gifting one foe Christmas.
