  • Nothing but an improvement over the stock batteries
Summary before story: -More than doubles battery life -Conveniently allows tool to stand up -Adds power to the tool. Cuts driving and drilling time significantly. -Takes 1.5x longer to charge than stock batteries (if you complain about this, you're a bad person...) If you have a Milwaukee M12 tool that uses lots of power, you haven't lived until you've used this battery. I bought this about a week into owning the Milwaukee Impact Driver kit, 2450-22. In that week without this battery my drill received moderate use driving screws into drywall, studs, and floor joists alongside a DeWalt 20v-Max Impact Driver, DCF885C2. The Milwaukee with its stock battery was slightly more compact but also had less power and stamina than the DeWalt. My driver often barely hobbled through the last legs of the day, or sometimes needed the other battery. During that time frame, the DeWalt was, by a margin, my tool of choice. Enter the Milwaukee 12v XC battery. I received it the week after, desiring a little more longevity from the Milwaukee driver. On the first night and every time hence, it takes about 45 minutes to charge from one bar of charge to the full four. I plugged this thing in the following Monday to compete once again with the DeWalt. The results were impressive. Monday turned out to be a day of heavy use. We needed to drill holes in new cabinetry, medium-hardness 1" wood. Myself and my partner split the building, me with my Milwaukee and he with his DeWalt. We were both using brand new Ryobi drill bits from the same kit, 1/64" difference in bit size. Each of us drilled about 400 holes that day. My Milwaukee with the XC battery made it with two bars of charge left, verging on a single bar. My partner's DeWalt was halfway through its second battery. I kept pace with him, to my amusement (he's a trade finish carpenter and I'm a rough carpenter and general laborer) and our drills seemed to be matched in power. This is real professional-grade stuff. ... show more

  • power and balance
I too purchased this battery as an extra or spare. I got a great price through Amazon and if you need longer running times with your M12 series of tools, this battery will do the job. I found that the 12v radio did a good job with the original battery for about three hours and then I'd have to recharge the battery. But with this battery I can listen to music for about 6 to 8 hrs. without interuption. The reason I can't give an exact extended time is that I think it depends on how loudly you listen to the radio ( I've been listening loud these days because they have been playing better songs) and how often you make changes to the radios functions. This is because the radio lights up and stays lit for awhile after making any adjustments. On tools such as the impact driver, temperature gun thermometer kit, inspection camera and drills you could very easily forget you have to charge the battery at all. it lasts that long. Great addition to the M12 line and the charge time is not much longer than the original battery. One unexpected bonus was that either in the radio, impact driver or any other tool I've tried so far, the battery gives the tool a better balance without much added weight. ... show more

  • More than worth it!
I bought this so I could have a second battery to go with the 2.0AH one that came with my drill. I’m all electrician, and use this drill everyday, all day. I was hesitant to get it at first because I liked the more compact nature of the slim 2.0AH base, but figured I’d give this a try anyway. This battery has exceeded my expectations. I charged it once to full upon arrival, and after several weeks of use, I will have to charge it again for the first time. It has more than double the life of my 2.0AH battery, maybe even 3x the life, and the square base lets me stand it up instead of having to lay it down. Best part is, this was only $60-$70. Great value ... show more

  • To extend the usefulness of the 12 V. tool
I have limited the use of the cordless tools because the batteries do not last when you use them every once in awhile, especially with the older technologies (Nicad etc.). I kind of drifted into Milwaukee's 12V. by buying a Milwaukee 2401-22 12-Volt Li-Ion Compact Driver Kit from Amazon a couple of years ago. Then I picked up a couple of the so-called Bare Tool type on sale (a right angle 3/8 drill)and finally a flash light that really needed a larger base to stand on its own; I bought this which extends the time between charging. I found this greater capacity battery especially useful when I need to do something where I am drilling pilot holes and then drive screws. I am finding the whole 12V. line of Milwaukee tools to fit my needs and will be purchasing another of this battery, as well as the more compact ones. Now months later I find this 12V. line of tools to still be well suited to my needs when I have an extra battery or two for those times when I am doing more extended work. They hold the charge adequately and charge more quickly. ... show more

  • Not RED Lithium but good value.
When I ordered mine several weeks ago I couldn't find the difference between the $39.99 Battery and the $69 battery. I finally figured it out. Amazon has the same picture for both batteries. The newer battery ($69) should say RED Lithium the older battery says Lithium-Ion. The difference between the Red Lithium XC and the Lithium-Ion XC is the new RED Lithium is 32Wh (about 2.7amps out) and the old Lithium-Ion is 28Wh (about 2.3 amps out). The Regular small RED Lithium battery is 16watt/hour the Lithium-Ion XC is 28watt/hour and the newer Red Lithium XC is 32 watts. So is the extra 4 watts worth $7.50 a watt?? I'm not sure what the extra benefits are of the RED Lithium other than increased amperage and hype. However for the difference of a sawbuck, and almost doubling the run time is a good deal (between the regular 16wh RED Lithium and the 28wh Lithium-Ion XC). ... show more
