I took the time to read reviews, so when my pillow arrived I unwrapped it, and removed the outer cover, then placed it in my closet for two days to airate and puff up to full-size undisturbed. Then I replaced the cover and set it on my bed. For me, the stuffing is perfect, no need to add any extra and I haven't removed any. I like the option of being able to do both. There was no extra padding included in my package which I was grateful for because I wouldn't have needed it or had a place to store it. The instructions said I could have placed the pillow into my dryer on fluff for 10 minutes to reconstitute it. (if I had wanted to ) also a recommendation from the manufacturer if it needs re-fluffing after use. This pillow is soft to the touch, and feels soft against my back while also being firm and supportive. I place it against the wall at the head of my bed and lean against it comfortably. I have also used it on my couch as additional back support and it works great there also. I am under 5' tall so sitting on most couches is uncomfortable unless I sit Indian style or with my feet tucked in under me. This pillow allows me to sit comfortably with my feet flat on the floor or proped up on the ottoman without having to slouch to do so. I like that I can take the stuffing out of the inner cover and soak (hand wash... not machine wash) the inner cover if it gets soiled, and then restuff it when dry. The removable outter cover is machine washable which is nice. I am guessing the stuffing could be machine washed/dried on gental cycle seperaterly after being placed in a mesh bag. I will probably give it a try at some point due to todlers and cats living in my home not to mention my own clumbsiness. I have had other backrest pillows (TV pillows) before they were supportive and firm, but hard and heavy, and machine washing was not recommended. Although I did machine wash them when they became soiled (had to or throw out). They always threw my machine out of balance and took forever to dry. I made a single purchase for 2 of these shredded memory foam reading pillows, gray. They were shrink wrapped and when I opened the bags they immediately began filling/fluffing up. I put them both on the guest bedroom bed and checked on them a few days later (instructions are to leave on a flat surface for 24 hours). One of them gives good back support and firm armrests while the other should've been returned for an exchange but I missed the return window. The backrest portion is nowhere near as firm as the other pillow and the arm rests don't have enough filling. Where they connect to the backrest is flimsy/floppy even after I opened the interior zipper and tried to redistribute the memory foam more evenly throughout each arm. If I had only received the firm pillow this would be a 5 star review; if only the under-filled pillow this would be a 2-3 star review. The material is soft and comfortable and appears to be pretty durable. I haven't washed the covers yet but product description says they can be washed in warm or cold water and tumble dried on low heat. Please note the COVER can be washed, not the shredded memory foam filler! ... show more

Very soft cover. Beautiful color. Still waiting to use it as instructions say to wait 48 hours before using. However I can already tell it's going to be firm enough to be comfortable. The cover has a zipper in the back. They recommend to unzip it so that the interior can expand even more. Unfortunately I did not see it until this morning. I received the pillow last night. The inside cover has a zipper also but I don't recommend opening it up as it exposes the chopped up sponge inside. Now, as far as unpacking. OMG!!! First of all, it was vacuumed packed. That part I expected. Next, it was wrapped in a saran type wrap around 8 to 10 times! That made it VERY difficult to fully expose the pillow. That was frustrating to unravel. One pleasant surprise was that they put 2 pieces of cardboard (one each front and back of box). That was good. I was super careful while cutting box. They had the instructions saran wrapped along with the pillow. I would have preferred it be left loose as they provided a plastic cutter. I didn't find it until I fully unwrapped the pillow. At that point it was completely useless. All in all, I am impressed with the pillow. I did order the larger pillow as I view it as having the potential of being more comfortable. I will update in the future to talk about its comfort. Update: While it's a beautiful pillow. Fabric is soft and color is gorgeous. I have decided to return it because I'm having difficulty with storing it while I sleep. ... show more

I spend a fair amount of time on conference calls in my home office, which has a window seat. This pillow allows me to recline comfortably, looking out the window and giving my eyes some much needed time away from screens. It fits perfectly in the 19-inch wide space. By itself it's a bit squishy, but since it has a wall as a backstop it's just right. An added benefit is I can lay it face down on the floor, arms pointed behind me, and rest at a shallower angle for watching TV, taking a power nap, etc. The cover material is soft and velvety and there's no lingering odor. I've been wanting to get a pillow like this for some time and finally made a purchase. I'm glad this is the one I bought, and I'd do so again. ... show more

I use the armrest as a bolster pillow. Perfect for under the neck support when laying down. Has give so doesn't make you sore. Good back support when sitting on my bed watching TV or reading. Good purchase. Much better with shredded foam than the traditional fiber fill.
