It does an amazing job of neutralizing the brassy orange tones in my hair and leaves it with the cool, ashy look I've been trying to achieve. Better Than Other Purple Shampoos

Awesome results, gentle formula, non-drying, pleasant smell. I have very thin textured bleached blonde hair more on the platinum side. I alternate this product with my normal shampoo and leave it on for 5+ minutes. It gives my hair a very nice icy champagne tone when done. I usually use Fanola because Fanola gives very intense purple tones, but it’s so incredibly drying. This Milk Shake product is not drying on my hair whatsoever. I make sure to use a conditioning treatment instead of regular conditioner as well. It’s also better than the Olaplex, Pureology and Joico purple shampoos. It smells just like grape juice or grape soda. But you don’t smell it in your hair after it’s dry. It’s also VERY black. It didn’t stain my shower or hands though.

Milk Shake Icy Blond Shampoo is it! It neutralizes brassy, yellow, and orange tones better than anything else I have tried. And I have tried it all. My hair is soft, shiny, and manageable instead of that dry or stripped feeling I have found with other products.

This shampoo is very effective, like purple shampoo PLUS! The first time I used it, I let it sit like I do the purple shampoo and it left a light purple tint in the blonde. Now after I bleach, I lather it in then rinse it out without sitting for any extra time. I follow up the same with the black conditioner and my hair looks great! My hair feels and smells great after using it too. It has a grape smell.

Worked better for me than purple shampoo

Works so much better on my grey grow out than purple shampoo. I use this about every week to two weeks. It actually has softened the demarcation line and has softened the brassy ends. It does make my grey darker a bit as well but for me I can deal with that well while growing the Ole Grey/Silver out. Tried so many purple shampoos and none helped with the brassy ends at all. I am about 75 percent grey with brown and colored hair was a med brown and caramel highlights. Wished I had purchased this so much sooner.

Do you have salt & pepper hair & want more pepper than salt? Than this product is for you!

I have salt and pepper hair that was turning my salt, WAY more salt. I did not want to dye my hair, so someone recommended I try this shampoo and conditioner. If you are wanting to use it on grey hair, I would recommend you only use it once every two weeks, once a week at the very most. This shampoo and conditioner brought back the black in my hair that I have and really made it stand out. It did brighten the silver in it as well. I have received so many compliments on my hair since I started using this product and I can honestly say it's my natural color. I do use the conditioner like a hair mask and leave it in for about 30 minutes when I use it. The shampoo smells really good. It is expensive at first, but you really only use a small amount and you should only use it every other week so it really is a long lasting product which then makes it a really good price. The only issue I have with it, is because it is black shampoo, you have to make sure you don't get the shampoo or conditioner on anything. Your tub or shower also can get black from using this product, but it cleans right up with bathroom cleaner. I highly recommend this product if you have salt and pepper hair and would like more pepper with your salt.

pretty, but not long lasting

i really enjoy this so far, but not sure if i love it. the smell is amazing and it really sticks, which i love! the tone is beautiful on my hair, but i really wish it stayed longer. if i use this on my hair, the next time i wash my hair itll be washing out, which is a total bummer because of how beautifully it tones my hair. i dont think it makes my hair feel much drier or anything, but i have been following it up with a hair mask so its hard to say. overall, the longevity is not there, which is why im taking away 2 stars. it just doesn't last long, and for the price point, it definitely should!

Powerful toning shampoo great for brassiness, just don’t overdo it

I’ve been using the milk_shake Icy Blond Shampoo to keep my blonde looking cool and toned, and it definitely delivers noticeable results. This is stronger than your average purple shampoo—the darker pigment really helps cut down on yellow and brassy tones, especially on lighter blonde or highlighted hair. After a couple of uses, my hair looked noticeably more ash-toned and refreshed. It lathers well and leaves hair feeling clean without being overly drying, which I appreciated. That said, because it’s so pigmented, you have to be careful with how long you leave it on. Leaving it too long can slightly over-tone very light hair or give a faint tint. Pros: Strong toning effect (great for brassiness) Helps maintain icy/ash blonde color Cleans well without stripping hair More effective than typical purple shampoos Cons: Can over-tone if left on too long May temporarily stain hands or nails Works best on lighter blonde shades Overall: A great option if you’re trying to maintain a cool blonde tone at home. Just start slow with timing and adjust as needed—this one is definitely more powerful than most toning shampoos.
