UPDATE: After less than a month of opening and closing these, they have become very difficult to lift back up to open and require a lot of time and effort to get them back into the original "up" position. This is disappointing since initially, they were working fine. I'm removing a star for this early functionality failure, which is, in my opinion, the most important feature of any window covering aside from privacy. ORIGINAL REVIEW: My neighbors overlook the north side of my house, so I wanted something to provide a bit more privacy, especially at night. This blind is literally a perfect fit for my window and does a great job of blocking out sun and heat during the day while providing absolute privacy at night. Installing this was simpler than some other blinds I've installed, although once up, I found them challenging to get back down, which is something I always test. I have arthritis in my hands, so that makes it a bit more difficult and it's probably due to that more than the fault of the shade. The reason I'm not rating these five stars is that the fabric part of the shade that you pull down is not perfectly centered in the metal housing. This is unlikely to be an issue if you have a lot of room to spare on either side, but these fit my window like they were custom-made, so that means the fabric is a bit tight on one side. It doesn't impede the shade from being able to move up and down, but it does mean a larger light gap on one side versus the other. I don't know if it's possible to adjust that because I haven't been able to get it back down. Don't get me wrong, it's a fantastic blackout shade for the money, and I'm probably just nit-picking a bit, but I think it's fair to present that issue in case you don't have a lot of wiggle room in your window frame. If it weren't for the slightly off-center issue with the material, these would be on par with custom-fit shades. In fact, I ordered another one for the other window in my living room that's the same size, so obviously none of these issues are a deal-breaker for me. The included retractable shade pull is a nice addition, even if I can easily reach the top shade when it's all the way up. As you can see from the photo, I have roommates that would be keen to play with dangling cords, so this cordless shade is great for mitigating that potential hazard as well. Overall, these are great shades for the money and I hope they'll last for many years. ... show more

Definitely blackout blinds. Love the look. It's modern, simple, no cords. The pull-down wand is very handy since my windows are quite tall. Great quality and at a great deal. Will definitely be ordering more for my other windows. The only downside was that the first one arrived with missing parts and the product package was shattered to pieces (made of clear plastic material). They were replaced quickly (2 days), and the product packaging for the replacement was also broken, but all the elements were intact. They need to change the packaging. ... show more

These are comparable to similar cellular shades from any hardware store. I've installed many and these are just as easy. A few screws in two brackets and the blinds snap in place. I love the cordless design and blackout fabric. I installed mine inside mount so there is a seam of light around the edges but this is true of all the shades I have. I like the wand that comes with it, this is great for taller windows and not common in this type of shades. ... show more

The installation of the shades was very easy and quick. Use just one screw to install the bracket, and it is sturdy enough for the shades. I like the build quality of the shades, and it blocks lights well. I can raise and lower the shades easily with my hand, and it operates smoothly and quietly. The package includes the adjustable pull-down wand which was not expected since the product description did not mention that. These blinds replaced slatted cordless blinds on a door to our back patio. The installation on the metal door was straight forward without reading the instructions and was completed quickly. The blinds snapped securely to the mounting brackets without difficulty. These are cellular blinds so to look out the window they must be raised. The blinds are light in weight and raise and lower very smoothly. They hang evenly across the top when raised without any droop on either side. They include an unobtrusive tab to snap on the bottom edge of the blind which makes raises and lowering a one-handed operation. Although the cellular material is light and thin these are blackout blinds - light from outside does not penetrate them. I rate them good quality in terms of the regular pricing.
