I have only had the 6360 for an hour but wanted to write this review because so many others ran into problems on day one, which made me hesitant to complete this purchase. I eventually decided to purchase it anyway and it arrived today. I set it up immediately because my old espresso machine (Jura) broke down a week ago and I miss my coffee. It took two minutes to unbox it, two minutes to fill with water and beans and another two minutes to plug it in and go through the setup process. Everything happened just like it was supposed to. I cheated a little bit because I read an online version of the user manual before the machine arrived so I didn't have to waste time reading the setup instructions. I made two cups of coffee and threw them away per the instructions. I then made a cup of coffee for myself using the default setting. I got 5 ounces of coffee and it was very strong. I added a little water and it was pretty nice with a good crema. Tomorrow I will make some adjustments to suit my taste. Note: I haven't gone through any of the cleaning processes yet, which is where some people ran into their problems. By reading these reviews and per the user manual I know not to use too much water in the tank when cleaning so I am hoping that I won't run into problems. I will update this review if I run into problems tomorrow or sometime down the road, but so far I am really excited because I was expecting it to be DOA, and instead it surprised me and worked perfectly. UPDATE: I have had the machine for a few days now and am still very impressed. All of the default coffee settings are very strong so I have updated the "coffee amount" settings to suit my taste. Changing the coffee amount, brew temperature and pre-brew setting is quite easy. Changing the portion size is more convoluted however. Once you select "Portion size" from the Paramenter menu, the machine starts dispensing the beverage and you have to press the OK key once it has dispensed the amount of coffee/espresso/froth that want. I prefer the Jura process which lets you select the number of ounces (for coffee/espresso) and the number of seconds to dispense froth. I don't actually have to dispense the beverage at that time. The froth created by the Miele is superior to any machine I have used to date which includes Jura, DeLonghi and Saeco. Cleaning the frothing tube after each use is very easy and I prefer it over the Jura. I have only had the machine for a few days but decided to run the weekly milkpipe maintence anyway as per some of the reveiws it seems to be the most problematic. I made the mistake of emptying the water container and adding the 300 ml of lukewarm water prior to actually turning the machine on. I don't recommend this because the machine starts telling you that you need to add water. The instructions clearly state to open the Menu and select Maintence / Clean Milk Pipework. The machine will then prompt you when to empty the water container, etc. Even though I got ahead of the process, I did get the cycle to run with no further issues. It takes about 20 minutes. In comparing this process to the Jura, the Jura is much easier because it has a separate container for the cleaning agent; you don't have to empty the water container. The Jura only take 5 minutes, while the Miele takes 20 minutes. My Jura never made good froth though, so if the 20 minute Miele process keeps my unit making good froth I will happily perform the function at least once a week. EDIT: After owning it now for months, I can say it has been a hastle-free experience, and have become accustomed to the unit, my only real complaint still is in the screen --- it is at 90 degrees to the countertop, I would like to have seen it aimed "up" a bit more so I don't feel like I have to stoop. This is, at this point, my only real complaint. Cleaning is easy! Old 10 year old Miele CM died, after looking at their product line, this was the closest to what we had. Lets start with the bad... 1] The display is angled for 8 year olds. On the counter I have to stoop to read the display as it is 90 degrees to the floor and very difficult for me to read without stopping. Its bright and not a contrast problem -- it is just ergnomincally not ideal. My wife who is shorter than I am says it doesn't bother her. 2] The navigation is not friendly to buttons. The old CM had a dial and a button -- it was easy to scroll up and down to get to the menu item I wanted. This combined with the ergo unfriendlyness made it very easy to start a milk cleaning cycle when intending to rinse. 3] The milk cleaning cycle --- on you start it...it can't be interrupted. Even a hard power cycle does not return you to starting position. Perhaps becuase the cleaning agent is toxic and they want to ensure you don't drink it? I'm sure thats the reason. The milk cleaning cycle is also demanding where adding too much or too little water will cause it to error and you have to start over. I am guessing this is the reason for the high degree of low reviews. I'm really not sure how this didn't get caught in focus groups and user testing. These 3 features are a "toxic" combination 4] The bean hopper is in a terrible place. Its hard to fill with beans when its on a counter, at least herein the US we usuauly have upper and lower cabinets. To fill the bean hopper I have to pull the unit out from under the 'upper' I'm not sure how to fix it...its a limitation of gravity feed. The Good: The apperance is pleasant -- being white, it is not a dark appliance that is a big black hole like our old unit. It also has LED lights which brighting things even more. Its pleasant to look at on the counter The bean hopper and water tank are nicely sized. A morning of 'brew' does not take additional tanks for my wife and I who are both seriously addicted to caffein. The drinks produced are good -- very good. I like them in fact better than the coffee shop down the street. Well done. Its quiet - much quieter than our older unit. You can hear it but the grinding is the most noisy part of the brew process, and it is still quite quiet. Suggestions: - Make profile changes easier. See by complaints...yet another User Interface problem. - Make some of the buttons presets -- like a car radio. I really don't need tea settings, and like not espresso. Let me choose what the buttons do. For the price, a full size touch screen should be quite possible. Really --- they are not that expensive and would have removed most of my frustration in the first 48 hours of ownership ... show more
