We originally got the 36" crate for our 4.5 month new Bernedoodle puppy. Loved the extras that came with it and it served us well for the first few weeks, but it became apparent that she would probably be happier with a larger one (she is bound to continue growing). So we ordered a 48" crate from another brand, thinking we'd use the bowls and liner from the original in the new one (saving about $60). When the 48" crate came, it was definitely made of thinner metal and the latches were wonky and hard to operate. Ugh! Rather than try to bend things to make it work easier, we decided to just go back to this brand and get the larger crate and try to re-sell the smaller one. Much better-made. You won't be unhappy with this brand.

I got another dog and needed another crate. Unfortunately, elite field (my older crate) only makes soft crates now. The Midwest doesn't feel as sturdy as my older elite field, but it works for me. I have two shepherds, the rambunctious child with ADD (you can tell which one is which in the pictures) stays in the elite field, the calm one gets the Midwest. She prefers it with the cover on. It has small Velcro tabs that keep the cover closed and she likes the soft bed. I got it on July 3rd, just in time for let’s blow things up day. My female doesn't like the noise and the cover makes her feel safe. I haven’t figured out how to attach the handles, but that is not a deal breaker for me. Oh, and the handles to close on the Midwest I like better than the elite field. Midwest is easier. I haven’t unfolded it; it will stay up in the den so I cannot speak to if it is easy to fold back up. It took several tries to get it unfolded. Someone else complained (and I agree 100%) that the labels on the bottom of the bowls are stuck on forever. I let them soak for two days, scrubbed, and soaked some more and still could not remove all of the sticker. I will give them away as I don't need them.

Bought the 36" size. While the quality is great, it's not flimsy at all. The size is WRONG. it is 35.5x22x23 which is smaller than I need. My original midwest crate is bigger in every regard, and it's supposed to be the same size. So I'm not sending it back, as I need an additional crate for our puppy, and the price is great currently 49.99. I'll have to end up selling it locally later on (which will be difficult) as it will be too cramped for my dog when she's full grown. My male collie fits well in the original 36" but can't comfortably settle in the new one, so it let's me know that long term for my new collies, this won't be the right fit. I've no use for the bed, the cover is okay, the bowls are great minus the adhesive they use on the inside of the bowl, but for the price if you're not at the top of the size range it's a great deal.

I got this as a travel crate for an Australian Shepherd who is terrified of car rides. He does much better in a crate where he can't see outside the car. I choose this one because it can fold down for storage since I only need it for long car rides and my first choice wouldn't be here in time for when I needed it. I have osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and psoriatic arthritis. My hands are in bad shape. I managed to get the crate assembled but I don't have the hand strength to disassemble it myself. I wish I could go ahead and return it but, I really do need it tomorrow. It will do the job for now but, I'll probably end up replacing it in the future.

This crate is NOT the size it says it is. In the description, the product dimensions are 36"L x 23"W x 25"H; the tag says it is 36.5"L x 23.04"W x 24.93"H. Neither are correct. I have a crate that is the same size as the cited dimensions, and I ordered this one to sit beside it for a pair of puppies. It was immediately obvious that they were not the same size, so I measured. The ACTUAL, measured dimensions are 35.5"L x 22.375"W x 24.5"H. So, the real dimensions are 1/2-1"L, ~5/8"W, and ~1/2"H different and don't match the posting or the tag! Why am I keeping it anyway? Well, I desperately need a second crate! And everything else about the crate is great. I haven't actually opened the cover yet, but the bed is nice. The bowls are great quality and attach securely. The crate itself is a nice quality, especially for the price, and the tray slides easily to clean. Overall, it's a nice crate set and definitely worth the price. I just wish it was actually the size I wanted to match the old one.

I tried out several crates for my puppy. This one is sturdy and was a great price. The door closes and stays latched even with a rambunctious puppy. The extra mat was very nice. The bowls with attachments are useful. We haven't tried the cover because my pup is still destructive and pulls things into her crate. Eventually I am sure it'll be useful.

7/15/21 - UPDATE: I have noticed that the locking mechanism has started rusting. This crate has only been used indoors. Not sure if it's due to moisture in air from the humidity in South GA or my dogs slobber. It still functions and I'm sure a little CLR mixed with warm water will clean it off. Still a good purchase. 1/10/21 - UPDATE: The XL crate will NOT fit in sedans. I downgraded from a Tahoe to a Honda Accord once my kids were older and this crate would not fit in my trunk, so couldn't take for Christmas. Also, I recommend not putting the crate mat in the kennel with a puppy that is still potty training. My Golden had #2 embedded in the mat and it is now stained (instructions state not to use any abrasives). I would suggest getting a waterproof crate mat that can be easily cleaned. Still happy with purchase, however. ORIGINAL POST: We decided it was time to start crate training our 5mth old Golden Retriever who is going through her terrible twos at the moment. We are in the process of building an entertainment center kennel but needed an intervention ASAP. I seen this crate and loved that it came with absolutely EVERYTHING (I.e., crate, bed, bowls, fitted darkening cover, handles, two doors, and divider) so I decided to purchase an XL. The size chart indicated size Large for Goldens, but since Piper's dad is 85lbs, I wanted to make certain she would have enough room once fully grown. The XL is bigger (or looks bigger) than I anticipated but I'm also used to my 5lb Morkie, so my size perception is a bit skewed in that respect. Our Golden has a good bit of room to move around at her current size (≤30-40lbs). I am glad I sized up so she won't be confined to solely just lying down during the times she is in it, especially when full grown. Pros: 1. I love that the bottom of the dog bed is waterproof (think crinkly plastic mattress pad or shower curtain) and the bottom corners have elastic mattress straps for the crate tray/pan to keep the bed from bunching and sliding. The pan can also be slid-out without opening the doors or removing the crate cover. 2. The bowls are big, deep, (Well they are when compared to my 5lb Morkie's bowls at least) and stainless steel. They secure directly to the bars so there is no sliding or tilting, yet the bowl can be removed without having to undo the locking mechanism allowing for easy refill. 3. The crate cover is a thin polyester fabric that is water and stain proof, yet machine washable. It has 4 velcro fasteners on each corner that allows the cover to fit securely while preventing light from entering. You can also purchase another cover separately in one of the three colors & patterns they offer. 4. The crate lays down flat for storage and comes with 2 hard plastic handles that you can attach for easy transport. Cons: The only downfall I have noticed thus far (just received it 8hrs ago) is some of the metal ends on the top where they cut the crate bars are extremely sharp and can cut/stab you if you aren't careful, especially during setup. I only noticed a couple on mine because they got me but I also didn't go feeling around for more either. Overall: I would most definitely recommend this product and I will likely replace my Morkie's crate with this product (smaller size of course). Tonight is our Golden's first night in the crate. We put the cover over it and after 10-15min. of barking, I placed a white noise machine near her and within 10min she calmed down and went to sleep. We will be using it to travel for Christmas, so I will update with pictures and how it does with traveling (due to it being XL).
