This unit is really a good window air conditioner. It is quiet for its type, does a good job and is energy star efficient. It is not going to compete with a mini split on efficiency but it costs less than 15% of the price of the least expensive mini-split before installation. I figure it would take the better part of a lifetime to save the price difference on the cost of electricity based on the greater efficiency of a mini split.     • good cold AC for small bedroom

Installed easily but for an energy star AC, it would be nice if they included better side insulation than the normal accordion pieces, other window ACs I have purchased included pieces of foam to place over the accordion seals and maybe some tape to seal side of machine to the side insulation. Over all it blows good cold air and is not any noisier than any other window AC. ONE thing that REALLY annoys me about this and most other window ACs is the vents - light shines right through the white styrofoam back of the machine so you have bright sunlight coming in through the vents. I am a day sleeper so this is an issue for me, I know it wont bother most people but be aware if you use a window AC in a bedroom they do allow a lot of light in. The included remote does work but buttons are hard to see unless you turn a light on and no remote temperature setting like some have where it sense temperature at the remote instead of inside the window ac - minor stuff and for the price at the time I bought it, this unit was a good buy. I will need to find some way to seal up the sides and do something about blocking the light - all theyd have to do is use black foam or cover it with dark plastic but none of them do. ... show more

It is a nice unit for my needs. I bought it for my bedroom which is a normal size. It cools it down easily but it shuts down to low after doing so. I don't know why but it doesn't matter even if it is on high, once the room cools down the fan and temperature changes . The temperature will say 62 but the temperature will feel like a fan is blowing. The remote is not useful at all. I do like the unit I just have to turn it on and off again and then put it back on high manually. It also tells me when the filter needs to be cleaned which I like. It meets my needs. Update : I am totally bummed I feel like I bought a $100.00 special. When summer went into full swing this air conditioner took a nose dive. I bought it for my bedroom ( which is not big ) it feels like the room is room temperature. The fan while on high is very low it has the power of my last model when I put it on low. The cold mode does have cold air on ( keep in mind low air power ) but what really makes this junk is that shuts itself down to fan on its own. Although it is on high fan and high cool ....it shuts down to a fan . The way it would if you have it on energy saver or automatic . The problem with this is that the room isn't cool so the little it did do is now lost. I have tried ( during the day) turning it off and on again, changing the mode.... nothing. I would've been upset if I spent $100. forget this price point. I can't even say a glorified fan because the fan pressure is not as strong as a fan would be. I had bought another unit from this company for my livingroom the same btu's it works fine I wish I bought that model and I have no door to separate my kitchen from my livingroom. If you're looking for a cool summer, I would recommend buying something else. 🤦♀️ ... show more

I changed my house over to window A/C's because they now have higher SEER ratings than my central air, and everyone in the house has their own temperature preference. I also realized the energy savings by only having ones on in the rooms that are occupied. House rule is shut them off when you go out. They turn the individual rooms around so quickly, it's a waste to leave them on. So this Midea is a top seller here at Amazon and now I know why. First of all it is quiet, and that alone is huge. How quiet? It's almost perfectly so. I'm really critical of hearing noise when the compressor kicks on, that hum can be unbearable in some of the cheaper units I had before. With this one it is not even noticeable at all except for the lowest fan setting, it's barely noticeable, and that is quieter then my Frigidaire units that are considered quiet at twice the price. I also love the fact that it has 3 settings. One if air conditioning, the other is dehumidifying, and third is a straight up fan. The newly remodeled and finished room in the basement can get a little musty when closed up. I noticed that walking into the room. Then I installed this unit, and left it on fan only. Came back hours later and the room was really fresh. I am assuming it takes the air from outside and circulates it into the room. So instead of needing to occupy two windows in order to keep all options open, with this Midea one window is all you need. I haven't tried the sleep mode yet but it gently kicks it down as the night progresses. Usually in the wee hours the temperature falls outside so that is a good way of saving energy. Not only is this a 12 Seer Energy star rated unit, it also has the econo mode. Instead of it being full blast, full on all of the time, this "tastes" the air and runs accordingly. I like the way it looks, love the really attractive price for a unit of this high quality. and love how much it cools the room. Be sure to take measurements of your room and get the appropriate sized unit. I can't recommend this Midea any higher. If there were six stars that is what I would give it. ... show more
