  • Beautiful and extremely comfortable
Size: Upgraded and Tall Color: Style30
This chair is beautiful! It feels very sturdy and well built. The leather is top quality and it even has a new car smell to it. It's unbelievably comfortable- we put it in the corner of our bedroom and it's perfect to read in or just sit and relax. I'm considering getting a second one for the living room. Two person assembly job-it would be extremely challenging by yourself just due to needing to hold some heavy pieces in place, while screwing together. The only real challenge assembling this, was getting the arm rests on, which I've read others had same issue. It's almost as if the screw is too short to reach through the arm rest piece and into the threaded hole on the body of the chair. I was able to get three of them (with some difficulty) but couldn't get the fourth.. I am going to pick up a longer screw from the hardware store.. not ideal to have to do, but thrilled with this chair aside from this! ... show more

  • A worthy copy
Size: Upgraded and Tall Color: Style36
While this chair lacks the handmade quality of an authentic Eames chair, for about 10% the price of the original, it is definitely a great value. Fit and finish is excellent, and so are the looks. The feel is a little less 'springy' than the original but it's not a deal breaker and there are technical reasons why that would jack up the price a lot. Definitely go for the real leather upgrade, and probably the larger size unless you're less than 5 ft tall. It's only about an inch taller, so it doesn't distort the proportions visually but is definitely more supportive. It's a very comfortable chair that you can settle into for hours and your back will feel no regrets. Assembly is not a problem if you have any skills at all, except the arm rests which take considerable patience and finagling. (I just thought about the money I was saving and kept smiling.) The only issue is the instructions which are worthless (and outdated; they've obviously made some changes since printing the instruction sheet) except as a general pictorial guide. The illustrations are good, but the text is just useless and they NEVER refer to the assembly hardware part numbers (just the furniture pieces) so go slow and work out which bolts are for which job BEFORE you start! The provided video on YouTube is a good idea in theory, but it will not save you; it is a 1 minute speed-walk of no use to anyone. But the bottom line is that I've put together Ikea furniture that was more difficult. Don't be scared off by my criticisms of the instructions, I just wanted to bring to the manufacturer's attention that they need revision badly, and they are often the true source of some confusion and complaints I read in reviews before buying. If it was really big problem I would have knocked off a star, but as you see, I did not. If you like the look don't hesitate to buy. You won't regret it. ... show more

  • High-quality chair from a great seller
Size: Upgraded and Tall Color: Style36
I purchased the "tall and upgraded" version. It arrived four or five days after in two separate boxes, one day apart. Packaging was excellent. You never know if you're buying junk or something of good quality...until you can see it, touch it, and try it. This chair β€” the upgraded version β€” exceeded my expectations. It's made with high-grade. nice-smelling top-grain leather (not PU leather, which soon begins cracking and falling apart). The finish of the wood is just as good as it appears in the photos. Not a single part is flimsy, poorly finished, or insubstantial. The manufacturer includes a large sheet with color illustrations and instructions in the usual poor English, but overall they're just about adequate. Head-scratchers include the fact that the instructions refer to Phillips-head screws; there were none in my box. Instead, all the screws sported hexagonal heads and had to be driven in with an Allen-type screwdriver (provided). Fine. Also, at the end you'll be left with a large plastic ring-style washer, a big metal washer, and a silver screw. There's nothing in the instructions about those things but I figured out that they're designed to be affixed to the underside of the chair's central column, in order to securely fix the legs to the rest of the chair. A spare slider foot is provided for both the chair and the ottoman (so two total). The trickiest part was attaching the leather armrests. It's very difficult to get the holes lined up (hot tip: have a helper there with a flashlight), and harder still to keep the Allen driver from rubbing against the wooden edge of the armrests. You may cause minor cosmetic damage (though in a place no one will see it) unless you put a piece of tape on the wood to protect it from being marred. It all worked out well enough in the end. The chair and ottoman took my daughter and me about 50 minutes to assemble. Don't try it alone; you need two people. I half-wish there was a third size (XL?). I'm about 5'11'' β€” not especially tall β€” and there's no head support for me unless I slump. People were less tall in the 1950s I guess; maybe that explains it. All told, I love this chair. I've always admired the look and design but could never afford the real thing ($7,000 and up). This replica comes damn close to the original at about a tenth of the price. I consider it one of my best purchases of the past few years. ... show more

  • Packaged well
Size: Upgraded Color: Style8
The chair came boxed and well protected from damage in its packaging. It took two of us to put the chair together because one had to hold the backrest in place while the other inserted the bolts. Instructions were not detailed, however UTube has videos on putting the chair together, which I found helpful. Overall, I’m very happy with the design and quality of this chair. It was delivered without a scratch. ... show more

  • Quality product with one exception!
Size: Upgraded and Tall Color: Style36
I went with the upgraded/tall version of the chair. It's a quality chair with one exception. The leather is nice, the plywood frame arrived in perfect shape, the color matches the images. My only complaint is that the holes in the chair don't align the holes in the base. I am pretty good with assembling and building purchases, but the more I tried to make adjustments, and make the holes align properly, the paint started to chip off from loosening and tightening the screws. The hole was about a 1/2" out of alignment so the screw could not recess into the concave area it should recess into. Other than that, I'm happy I went with this chair instead of one on another site were they charge 1200 and up. ... show more
