I recently purchased the Microsoft Surface Pro 2-in-1 Laptop/Tablet (2024) for my wife, who works in marketing and sales. She’s constantly writing reports, generating Excel spreadsheets, and analyzing customer data, and we needed something that could keep up with her demanding tasks. After using it for a few weeks, I can confidently say this device is a game-changer! The 13" touchscreen is sharp and responsive, making it easy for her to work on detailed reports and spreadsheets. The Snapdragon X Plus processor with 10 cores delivers smooth performance, even when running multiple apps or handling data-heavy tasks. With 16GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, the device has more than enough power to handle her workload without slowing down. One of the standout features for my wife is how well the Surface Pro integrates with AI to streamline her work. She’s been able to use AI tools for data analysis, report generation, and even customer insights, saving her hours of manual work each week. It’s truly enhanced her productivity in a way I didn’t expect. As for battery life, it’s outstanding. She’s able to work all day on a single charge, which is a huge plus since she often has back-to-back meetings and doesn’t want to worry about plugging in constantly. A couple of things to note: You’ll definitely want to get the keyboard and mouse (sold separately) to get the full experience of using this as a laptop. I've traveled for years with a laptop for work and a second tablet for airplanes (and occasional other times). Since I'm retiring in a couple of months, I wanted to pare down what I carry and decided to commit to trying the Surface Pro 11. I've been extremely pleased. It's quick and very capable, and works so well with the Surface Pro keyboard and pen. It is a solid PC with that keyboard and a responsive, capable tablet without it. Battery life is also excellent compared to other PCs or Windows-based tablets I've used. I had concerns about some of the software I use not working with the Snapdragon X processor but I've had no issues, and more and more apps are being adapted to it every month. Several reviewers commented that Google Drive didn't work on it, but that was addressed by Google in early Dec 2024 and it works flawlessly. I also use Quicken, WhatsApp, Davinci Resolve, and Firefox without issues. I did order an anti-glare screen protector (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CYGYVFVW) because the glare can be significant in certain lighting situations. I also ordered some small USB-A to USB-C adapters (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PDLQ555) so that I have the option to connect USB-A devices (a docking station/adapter is overkill for my needs).     • Good device, but beware of ARM architecture on this generation

There is a lot to like about a Surface. The form factor is terrific and I find both the keyboard and charger excellent. Battery life is good. My uses are primarily email, documents, and web. (no heavy CPU or RAM utilizers). BUT with the ARM based Snapdragon architecture, there are applications and drivers which are not supported. Google drive for desktop is not, and Google does not plan on supporting. This has really impacted the usability of the device for me in places without wifi or poor wifi. Had I known this I probably would have gone with a Chromebook 2 in 1, as these have really come a long way and it would have been much cheaper. The second issue is that I have had reliability issues with prior Surface devices. So I would consider the extended service plan. For this reason alone, it is better to purchase the device at Amazon rather than from Microsoft directly. The third party insurance is MUCH cheaper and seems comparable. One would think Microsoft support would be better and the customer experience on the Microsoft store to be good, but this has not been my experience. So outside of these, I do love this device so far and have found the functionality good. UPDATE after 6 weeks of use. I still like the device quite a bit, and a key advantage of the Snapdragon set up is the long battery life. However, a few other issues have arisen. This is mostly minor stuff, BUT Microsoft has not provided much in the way of support on the forums and despite a large number of other users with the same issue. For example, on start up, the keyboard is not recognized by the device until the keyboard is dethatched and reattached. An external screen does not allow night light even though it is present on the main device screen. Neither of these were issues with my Surface 8. The boot up on this device is MUCH longer on this device than my old Surface 8 (and yes, I minimized start up apps and all the other things to address this).
