    • Refurbished ... worth the risk for me
I bought this refurbished machine with a decent degree of confidence knowing that if it was messed up there was a decent return policy if needed, and thankfully I did not need it. To be clear, straight out of the box it began working as expected and through part of the setup process, then gave a BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH error message. I instantly hung my head in shame and shook it, thinking, "this serves me right for going refurbished to save a few dollars," but after a restart my extreme irritation with the device and myself for being a cheapskate faded, and this has worked without issue since then. I use this as a laptop-replacement which it is great for, it is only slightly smaller and lighter than my previous laptop (which itself was decently small and light) but that makes a big difference in terms of portability as it fits nicely in my briefcase. I bring this to court so that I can have functionally unlimited documents without having to have a massive paper file. This is not perfect for that, as inevitably I lose track of which document is open in which tab and it takes a few embarrassing seconds to figure it out, but I feel that overall this has provided me with a big boost in terms of productivity and efficiency, and when clients see me using this instead of fumbling around with a massive folder filled with multiple copies of documents that I may only need once, I think it gives them some additional confidence and seems more professional. I paired this with the Microsoft branded keyboard attachment (not the insane $400 bluetooth one, but the last generation of genuine Microsoft keyboard works on this very well and at 1/4 the price!) and the Microsoft branded pen accessory (so I cannot speak to functionality of off-brand accessories), both work flawlessly though writing with the pen on the screen takes a bit of getting used to. The pen is pretty awesome, it allows me to sign and return/submit documents without printing them which is great for saving paper and time spent printing, signing, and scanning. I also use a USB-C hub which allows me to connect a wireless keyboard and mouse and a second monitor for general office use. Using this with a hotspot allows lot of work to get done in the Courthouse that would otherwise have to wait. This is better than a laptop for that purpose due to the extreme portability and the lack of fan noise and decent battery life. Speaking of battery life, it is solid but not as insane as advertised, but I think we all know those estimates of 10+ hours of battery assume only nominal use at the lowest brightness settings and most features turned off. I've never had it run out of battery at an inopportune moment, I used it during a three hour trial to have exhibits and other documents readily accessible and it did fine with no threat of running out of juice. Complaints are few and far between. Biggest one is NO USB-A port.... so that is annoying but I bought two no-name adapters, one bigger one for my office that I use as essentially a docking station and a smaller one that I leave in my briefcase so I can use my thumb drive. It's not the end of the world but definitely a drawback. As stated before, the pen does take a bit of getting used to, but it is overall very much a net positive. The screen angle only has limited adjustments due to the fact that you rely on the kickstand, so if you work on a couch or lying in bed that can get a bit tricky. Sometimes software is a bit wonky, for example sometimes when I'm trying to resize different windows to fit the screen they do unexpected things causing me to lose track of what is where. I've heard this is due to the chip/board architecture which is a bit different than a standard PC, but I would not know. I do use this with a much older monitor as a second display and with the correct adapter it works very well, though looking at one screen and then the other really highlights the fact that the OLED screen is far, far superior to the older display which is from roughly 2008. Overall a very good buy especially at this price. I shopped around for a deal and this was it for me. The device itself plus the Microsoft branded keyboard and pen plus two different USB hub adapters (non-OEM random Amazon finds) was good amount less than just the lesser (non-OLED, smaller hard drive, slower processor) Surface Tablet with no accessories at Best Buy, so I'd say do a little research, get quality accessories, understand whether or not this is good for your use-case, and if so, go for it. ... show more

    • Good ARM processor -Fast and battery efficient.
beautiful and FAST! It is an ARM system but works with almost anything. Good emulator, and very fast and efficient for most projects. Does not run all software but it works fine with the major apps.
