So my charger port stopped working after a year and I was quoted $500 to repair it and my warranty wasn't applicable BUT it's okay because guess what? You can charge these with a regular shmegular usb c/ type c charger. Although if you decide to do this make sure the adapter/box that you're using is at least 65w so that it charges optimally and doesn't cause any long term issues. It's okay if it's a higher wattage because the device itself won't pull more power than it needs. Besides the whole charger debacle this is a wonderful device. I purchased a few weeks after I started taking college classes because the one I already had was too big and bulky. This one is slim and doesn't take up much space. I can fit it on a school desk to take notes and still have enough room for my tablet which I have my textbooks on. It is heavier than I expected but it's tolerable. The touch screen is super convenient. And do to it's smaller size it makes studying anywhere possible. Then when it comes time to take a break it's crisp speakers and quality graphics make movie breaks a dream. If it wasn't for the fact that you have 2 different charging options I would've told you not to buy it because the slim design makes it more complicated to take the device apart and put it back together if you do need repairs which make them pricier. Its also hard to get the parts themselves. But since the issue of the dead charger port isn't actually a problem I've fallen in love with this device all over again! ... show more

I bought this for work and personals use, and immediately fell in love! I got the 13.5". It's light but feels and looks sturdy, and the computer itself looks very professional. The battery holds up well unless I'm playing a strenuous game like Conan exiles, (that's expected because it's not a gaming laptop) but it runs the game great! I was almost discouraged to buy it because of a few bad reviews, but I'm so glad I did! I will update the review in a few weeks to tell how it's doing. (Update: I still love it!! It works amazing and it hold up really well!) ... show more

Very light, I upgraded from a Surface Laptop 2 only because it had a cracked screen (it was my fault, I dropped it on hardwood floor). The old laptop still works but I wanted another Surface Laptop due to its portability, its ease of use and the prior connection to the MSFT cloud for storage. I love it as it is excellent for my basic needs: spreadsheets, letters etc I am not a gamer so have no idea how it would perform in that regard. ... show more

In comparison to the Surface Laptop 3 I don't really see much of an improvement. It went downhill. Battery life isn't better. The speed isn't much better running windows 11 (I think Windows 10 is better). The keyboard isn't smooth or easy to type with. I feel like I have to press extra hard on them to type and triggers elbow and neck pain when typing for a few minutes. Some of the keys that I press on don't respond when I press them as I'm typing, which doesn't give a smooth typing experience. The sound quality is definitely worse and not as clear as the Surface Laptop 3 that I own, although additional features were added like the audio enhancements and spatial sound don't make the sounds more audibly clearer than the default settings for the Surface Laptop 3. The battery life doesn't last as long as promised and drops in increments that I don't feel secure leaving the laptop detached from a wall charger for long even though it can last on estimate with regular use for an estimate of 5 hours without requiring a charge. The screen display quality is good, but I figured Microsoft would address the annoying glare coming off the screen by now. That's annoying. I do like the fact this laptop still has the USB-A slot and that you're getting way more storage space in value than the MacBook Air M2, but based on reviews online if you have room for a better budget and have no need for 512gb storage space, this laptop isn't one I would choose. Additionally, I do enjoy the light weight experience of this laptop. However, I'm currently unhappy with this laptop overall and if I experience any further issues on the trial phase of using this laptop I might reach out to Amazon to make a return. I made this purchase mainly for a smooth experience for exam preparation and the exam itself. If this laptop doesn't give me the expected experience, there's no point in keeping it. When I tried out the keyboard of this laptop version at Best Buy, it gave me a misleading impression that this laptop would be the right fit for me. However, now I'm not so sure about it. Maybe this item is defective from its counterparts even though it was received brand new in the packaging. I will experiment more use of this item prior deciding if it's worth keeping in the long run or its keyboard and horrible sound experience that makes sound an inaudible experience not worth keeping it. If this item turns out to be defective, I'm hoping Amazon can honor its replacement. If the sound system is just generally this poor (I have trouble hearing audio recordings or watching films on this), maybe this version of the SL5 just isn't worth the experience. Saying this as an owner of the SL3 and that laptop although limited in storage space didn't give me as much of a hard time (its audio works great and is much clearer even though it's outdated). This might be a review limited to this device alone and not this laptop version in general. I'm not sure if this item is defective or not yet, but if it is I'm hoping that Amazon could honor its replacement. If the laptop is generally designed to offer such poor quality audio and a poor keyboard experience, then this laptop just isn't for me. I'm going to continue using this device to see if I can discover any features that I enjoy aside the issues I'm experiencing. For a Surface Laptop user, I'm quite disappointed so far. Updated review: this is the second surface laptop I’ve had within the past 5 years that its keys run into functionality issues where it doesn’t respond when pressed on. The media could not be loaded. I’m not complaining about anything right now , it turned on perfectly. I set it up with no problem. I’m using it for school purposes and haven’t had any issues. It’s a really thin laptop. Very light weight. I love it.
