  • ONCE YOU ADJUST, WHICH SHOULDN'T BE TOO LONG, THIS KEYBOARD IS ABOUT AS GOOD AS THE OLD ONE OVERALL
UPDATE JULY 2023: I am now fully adjusted and used to this keyboard. I rarely have the issues come up that I described in my original review below. I like this keyboard now just as much as the previous version. ORIGINAL REVIEW APRIL 2023: I thought I would hate this keyboard. I wanted to hate this keyboard. I was so used to and so loved the previous version that I was bound to hate it so I thought. Well, I did a bit at first. But I soon realized overall the new version was 95 percent as good. The main problem will be an adjustment period because the layout of the keys has changed in some cases. Also there are some new keys which I don't really know what they do because I really don't use them. You won't need to in fact. Yes, these facts are annoying especially to someone like me who hates change to something that fits under the "if it aint broke, don't fix it" saying. Eventually however you will adjust in a reasonably short period of time as almost all the keys you normally used are pretty much in the same layout as before. That all being said there is one big exception for me. The left side SHIFT CAPS TAB keys just seem off to me still and I've been using the keyboard for weeks now. I too often hit the CAPS key and lock on captials which is very annoying especially when typing in passwords. To be honest this would happen with the previous version, too, but it seems to happen much more often with this version. Also the "Windows symbol key" which you hit to bring up the start menu is off which put the left side ALT button off as well. This is much more annoying than the CAPS key and I still am not 100 percent used to the change. It is because they add in a new key which bring up the menu you get when you hit the right mouse button. I didn't need nor want this new key. I'd rather just right click my mouse button as it ruins the previously perfect alignment of the left side CTRL WINDOWS ALT keys on the previous keyboard. But I think in time I will eventually get used to it. One huge positive over the previous keyboard which surpirsed me was the weight and bulk. The new version is light as a feather and less bulky than the old version which actually was a very pleasant surprise. I am happy about that change. Another positive is the ergonomic design and feel aspect is just as good, maybe even better than the previous version. So, the bottom line: I still prefer the old version but I have adjusted to the new one overall. 95 percent of the time you will be satisfied in my estimate. Change of an item you love stinks but if you are forced to this keyboard is an acceptable alternative. ... show more

  • My Go To Keyboard!
I've been using this "model" for years now. I just had to finally replace my former model (after six years) with this one and I've been using it now for several months. This version has a much more comfortable wrist support system. The keys have great placement and feedback. The only thing I wish this version had were the "lighted" section for Caps, Number, Format.....this one only the NumLk key has an indicator and it's very weak to see. First world problem...but, useful when you need it. Good value and I would never use another keyboard. ... show more

  • Different keys than MS Ergo 4000 Keyboard
I've been using Microsoft's Natural Ergonomic Keyboards ever since they first came out (I think like the early 2000's). One of my two MS 4000 Ver1.0 died so I bought this one. Keys - I do a lot of typing and playing games, I'm used to the 4000's configuration, and don't care much for others brands of keyboards that I've sampled. I was very concerned that the LXM-00001's different keyboard configuration, especially what seemed to be the absence of some special keys (e.g. web zoom +/-) and status lights (Num Lock, Cap lock, etc.). After I plugged in the LXM-00001 and tested all the keys, I am relieved and even very happy with the new configuration and added functions. The MS Office 360 Online key - I don't have that Office online so I'd like to see if I can change that key to booting up my other MS Office software like MS Word or something else. Otherwise, the button this button will be useless to me. I rarely use the function keys. On the 4000, the functions are written on the keys (Undo, Redo, Help, Save, etc.). On the LXM-00001, the keys only say F1,...,F12 which is fine by me. On the 4000, it has the Zoom +/-. I use that one all the time for web pages and documents. I really wish they kept that key. I guess I'll have to start using the Cont+(+/-) keys do perform this function while using this keyboard. They added some neat keys too. One key you push allows you to select any part of the desktop as an image and copy the selected image into you clipboard for pasting into apps. Another key opens up a history of MS files that you have opened over the past 30 days. Neat. I think the search (magnifying glass) key is interesting but I don't know how useful it will be. It seems that clicking on the Windows key essentially does the same function. After clicking on the windows key, if you start typing, it will also perform a search function. Side note re: Hand rests - Both my old 4000's hand rest pads wore out, not pretty looking but still very functional. The new version has one hand rest pad that spans the whole keyboard which is fine. I hope this model's hand rest pads lasts longer. ... show more
