Description

The newest chapters in the Pokémon series are coming to the Nintendo Switch system later this year. Catch, battle, and train Pokémon in the Paldea Region, a vast land filled with lakes, towering peaks, wastelands, small towns, and sprawling cities. There is no set path, so you can adventure freely through three grand stories. In one such story, you can challenge Pokémon Gyms in any order you desire as you aim for the Champion Rank! Explore a wide-open world at your own pace and traverse land, water, and air by riding on a form- shifting Legendary Pokémon—Koraidon in Pokémon Scarlet and Miraidon in Pokémon Violet. Choose either Sprigatito, Fuecoco, or Quaxly, to be your first partner Pokémon before setting off on your journey through Paldea. Pokémon in the Paldea region have the ability to Terastallize to gain special power. When a Pokémon Terastallizes, a Tera Jewel appears above its head like a crown, and the Pokémon’s body glistens like a cut gemstone. Each Pokémon has a Tera Type that remains inactive until the Pokémon Terastallizes. For example, most Eevee will have a Normal Tera Type, but some other Eevee have a Flying Tera Type! When a Terastallized Pokémon uses a move that matches its Tera Type and at least one of its original types, the boost to that move’s power will be even greater! Terastallizing holds the key to victory or defeat in battles in the Paldea region. The Paldea Region is home to a prestigious school where people from all sorts of regions come to hone their skills against each other, be it through academics or Pokémon battles. In Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet, the name of the school, its emblem, its uniforms, and other details will differ depending on which game version you’re playing. Take classes with unique teachers who will show you what they know about battling, Pokémon biology, and more. Embark on an independent study called the Treasure Hunt to gain new experiences, meet new people, and find your very own treasure.

6 year old's favorite game & I can play with her. Game wise its cool how we can play together & do entirely different things. Product wise has been durable so far from a kid who is a bit careless & slightly destructive.

  • This has become one of my favorite pokemon games yet!
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet D...
I didn't think I'd like these games. I started playing ORAS and have always been partial to those games. It took a little bit to get used to the controls and the open world gameplay but I fell in love with it once I did. I've played most pokemon games available on the 3ds and Switch. This became addicting really quick. And I'd advise getting the DLC content as well. The controls are intuitive and really help and enhance gameplay. The freedom allowed by the open world makes the game challenging and you can easily get yourself in a bit too deep if you're not too careful but that actually made it fun to me. My only real negative is that the 3d renders of some of the pokemon feel a little plasticy to me. I plan on buying this set again to allow my children to play with me and explore the cooperative play more fully since we own 4 switch systems between us. Love it! ❤️ ... show more

  • Clearly Rushed/Issues With Production, But Some Real Amazing Bits Here And There And What An Ending
Platform For Display: Nintendo Switch Edition: Pokémon Scarlet & Pokémon Violet D...
This game is real heart wrenching for me as despite its many technical issues, horrendous load times for the pokemon storage, the environment, and cutscenes, some subpar new pokemon designs, and a lack of overall polish missing in comparison with its predecessors Sword/Shield and Arceus, there are some genuinely suprising moments or pieces that took me back. Particularly, the character of Arven. While there are two other characters of note, your rival Nemona and shy Penny, Arven felt by far the most developed. He surprises expectations from my initial thought of him being an aloof jerk, to not only being far more relatable/admirable, to a genuinely fierce opponent (his battle was the first one I lost going around). These little scraps of story and character development kept me going through some of the tired expectations I've had of Pokemon, the monotony and the bugs, till the ending. Without spoiling, the ending by far was one of the best parts by far of this game, and in recent memory, some of the best writing pokemon has done, with an absolute killer soundtrack. Sword and Shields weak plot and Arceus initial miserable drudge to get to the good stuff do not compare. In an ideal world, I hope they can take some of Sword/Shield's intriguing world building and design, Arceus's quality of life improvements, mobility and exploration, and some of the kernels of good writing (And some of the music from all 3) in this game in the future to make something truly spectacular. ... show more
