Works Great! Easy to Use. Highly Recommend as First Beginner Microscope. Feb. 2026: Purchased for 9 year old granddaughter. We set it up and used right away. Her aunt (my eldest daughter) is a molecular chem biologist and she helped her niece create a couple of slides. It was very interesting to watch a professional work and we were able to easily focus as we changed through the three power levels. We got the upgraded version with the view screen that can capture pictures of the view. We couldn't scroll through the pics already taken on the screen though. I think we have to upload to a computer or phone to see the saved pics. More to learn tomorrow. The kit comes with 5 sample slides and miscellaneous slide making tools. Quality of the tools are low as expected. However, the microscope was quite nice and solidly built. One reviwer questioned the scope's light effectiveness. We did not find this to be a problem. There are two lights for illuminating your slide...a top light and a bottom light, separately switched with brightness controls. I've been thinking of adding a microscope to my SHTF prep items for checking the contamination of water and filter effectiveness. At 2500X This scope is more than capable of finding giardia in water and the price is a fraction of the scope I was intending to buy...a college lab quality item. For what I need, this scope is the perfect solution. I therefore am buying a second microscope for me. I have to agree with the storage concerns pointed out by another reviwer though. It is non-existant. I recommend buying a scope and accessories storage system to keep it clean and protected. Again...I and my scientist daughter, both think this is an excellent value for the price and highly recommend.

First off I am purely an amateur at this stuff. BUT I got it out and played with it. Horse Trough Water was first two targets. All I THINK I could see was Water ??? So Clean I saw Nothing. The Water was Dark Green and almost Black, and I saw what looked like Clean clear almost filtered water??? It had sat for a day or to so I just figured maybe all the little vermin died & dissolved ? AND BTW on the x1000 Lens I was almost certain I Didn't see ANYTHING But LIGHT. Looked F'ed UP. But since I could find nothing with the other two lens I just said Phooey, and put everything away. OK Next target *&#)($ - And I would see more ??? but as I got up to x1000 NOTHING but LIGHT Distortion is the only way to describe it. It was at this point I KNEW there was Something Wrong with the Lens. I was about to return the product & scream POS - BUTTTT - As I was about to TWIST back off the x1000 lens, JUST before it turned to DARKNESS I Saw Something. I Turned back to the x1000 & Nothing but Light distortion again. I am not a total id|ot so I touched the lens and felt it flinch. OH MY God. The lens was not Screwed in tight. I tightened the lens & damned if I didn't see a pool party. Check your Lens' people. OK to the Review. I Should NOT have to be scared like that, & it is NOT that Great a Structural quality. Minus 1 Star. Otherwise very nice little scope for a moron like myself to look are the tiny thing around me. Again Total amateur at scoping so just an amateur opinion. Only had it for 7 days and only tried to use it three times. Now that the lens all seem to be working properly I might get a lot of oohs and ahhs out of it. Now to go collect some more Pond Scum. Or cut my finger or who knows. All for Science & Learning. BTW if you do not get the Duel Focusing... You are NOT going to like your scope. Get the FINE focus!

This kit has been great for my 6 year old nephew! One thing to note… it does come with a very sharp slicing tool which I was unaware of. He was playing with it but I have taken it away because it’s essentially a very sharp razor blade. Personally I disposed of this blade because I don’t want him to accidentally hurt himself. Noting for anyone who is buying this for children.
