  • The five pound flat cast iron base gives the stand plenty of stbility
Microphone Stand, Universal Detachable Mic Floor Stand with Compact Weighted Base, Height Adjustable From 22’’ to 67’’, 2 Universal Mic Clips for Blue Yeti/Shure SM7B/Samson Q2U and More, From Polesto, $29 on amazon. This is a surprisingly very nice mic stand. There are three 16 inch long screw-together tube sections of which one has the adjustable riser. That center riser tube is adjustable from 0” to 14” and terminates on its top with 3/8” threaded male end to hold the mic clip. You can select how many tubes to connect together giving height ranges of: 22” to 35”, 37” to 51”, and 53” to 67”. I was concerned that the base might not be heavy enough to give the stand stability but with 5 pounds of cast iron it’s plenty hefty. I like the base’s flatness instead of the usual rounded top base so you can place a heavy object on the base to give the stand even more stability. I’ll give it 5 stars. You get two styles of mic clips, two cable clips that attach to the stand, and a 3/8 to 5/8 threaded adapter. ... show more

  • Light Duty But Perfect
You probably won't see this on stage on a cross county arena tour, but if you're looking for a lighter duty, simple stand like I was, this might be perfect. It's lightweight and definitely transportable (the base isn't that heavy) but I wouldn't describe it as rugged. The metal quality is solid and the threading for each tube is precise. This is not the traditional type of stand with the twist lock to adjust the top tube inside the single bottom tube - rather, these are separate tube segments that screw into each other from the base then to a top adjustable tube. If you're mic'ing shorter sources, like a child or djembe, the fact that you can use the appropriate tubes only is significant to me. I don't like the look of an oversized stand with a downward angled boom. I think this gives the stage a cleaner look. While not the traditional stand built for the road, if you're in a controlled environment I think this is excellent. ... show more

  • The design is interesting, but this isn't for professional use.
Shout-out to POLESTO for coming up with a microphone stand that has a modern look, the ability to hold a bigger microphone like a Shure SM7B, and the ability to fit into a very small shipping box. It's nice to have a choice in microphone stands that looks a bit different from the average cast-iron base and adjustable chrome pole design. With that said, there are a couple things about this stand that I'm not a fan of. 1) The height. This stand is basically a weighted square-with-rounded-corners base and three matte black poles, one of which has a locking collar adjustment. The three pole sections are a byproduct of trying to make the stand fit in a small box for shipping, and there are two downsides to this. First, when assembled with all three pole pieces, the stand is very tall at its lowest height. I'm 5'10" and the microphone is at a perfect height for me, but if I had someone speaking after me that's shorter than 5'10", they'd need a stool. The only way to adjust this stand to a lower position is to remove one of the pole segments. Doing that would be awkward - you'd have to remove the microphone to avoid damaging it, either remove the bottom or middle post segment, and then re-attach the top post segment. If you do use the locking-collar height adjustment, you'll run into a different problem. Turning the collar counter-clockwise to loosen it also turns the post segments counter-clockwise. Basically, everything loosens up. This shouldn't happen. In fact, it wouldn't happen if the post was one longer segment. This is why 99.9% of microphone stands have just one adjustable post, not three pieces that connect to make an adjustable post. 2) The other thing I don't love about this is the mic clips that it comes with. I'm not sure what size mount they used here, but it's not a standard width so you need to use the clips that came with the stand. The clips are also sized weird... especially the one that looks like a giant clothespin and is presumably for larger microphones like the SM7B. It's embarrassingly large. The stand's base also has some questionable design choices. It's square-shaped, which means it's more likely to go crashing to the ground if it gets pushed too hard (take note, POLESTO, most mic stands have round bases for a reason... they're harder to tip over). It also has some sort of neoprene foam on the bottom of it, which isn't a non-slip material. Rubber feet would've been a much better choice to keep this stand in place. So... it's kind of cumbersome, but it's still stylish. If you never need to adjust it, it'll be fine, but if you gig with this you'll wish you had a regular old mic stand instead of this. Still, for less than $30, it's not terrible. ... show more

  • Good for home
I ordered this for my daughter to hold her mic while she is playing around, singing. It has a good rounded square base that has a nice weight for home use. I thought it might bee too tall for her if all the poles were in place but turned out just right. She did not have to adjust the extender to place the mic at mouth level. I let her put the whole stand together and it was no problem. There were left over parts such as an adapter for bigger mic stand and a clamp type mic holder. She said the instructions looked confusing but she got it. Seems like it will hold up well for her. For the price, it is well worth it. ... show more

  • A new style mic stand with some great features.
I'm tired of the same old choices in mic stands. It has always been Tripods or Round bases. I love that this stand is different. It's really versatile, in that you can set it up as a short stand, a mid height, or a tall boy. It includes a couple of mic clips, and if those will work for you, great... but there's also a 3/8-5/8" adapter so you can use standard mic clips on it as well. I don't think we'll be seeing this style on tour, but for venues and weekend gigs, this is a great alternative to the status quo. I really like it! ... show more

  • Sturdy and Adjustable!
The Microphone Stand is exactly what I needed! It’s very sturdy with a compact weighted base that keeps it stable. The height adjustment is smooth and easy to use. I also love that it comes with two universal mic clips, which are great for multiple microphones. Although my mics do have their own clips, it is nice to have a couple of spares. This stand is solid and reliable. Highly recommend! ... show more
