Color: Mic Boom Arm
First off, this is a great arm. All 3 sections give a range of motion, and the resistance can be modified by using the tension knobs at all three joints. This was something that was important to me, as I have my microphone hanging above my monitors and want to be able to pull it down and push it up at will. The arm is solid metal, and it seems extremely sturdy. Be careful when clipping the zip-tie holding it together when it arrives. The arm will spring straight up. It knocked a cup off my desk! The base of the metal stand it is mounted on has a high-quality rubber grip, so it shouldn't move from where you place it or damage whatever you mount it on. It also came in handy for me that they include 4 pieces of Velcro to hold your microphone cable in the cable tray build throughout the arm. I had mounted my mic improperly on a railing overlooking a staircase, and I knocked it off. As it turns out, the cable of my microphone stayed plugged in and held the entire stand and microphone and saved it. The cable and possibly the port on my microphone would have been damaged if the cable had not been tied down with the Velcro. Thanks for that Bietrun! Based on the quality, I think this arm will last for years to come, and I think it was a great deal. In my impatience for it to arrive, I went out and bought a rather nice Samson arm from Best Buy for the same price, and I am a bigger fan of this one.

I bought several boom arms on Amazon to try out, and this was my favorite. I bought the Donner blue-compass style one, this one, an Innogear (Rode PSA style), and a Gator 3000 (similar to this & blue compass also). I tested this one to support at least 3.1 lb at full horizontal extension without drooping (it probably reaches 3.5 lb, but I had no need so I didn't test). It does require tightening the spring in the base to hold heavy weights at full extension, but it holds heavy weights just fine when more vertical. The base on this is very sturdy and grippy, the sturdiest of all the boom arms I tried. It's also pretty low profile in thickness (no knobs sticking out like most), and it had the most range of motion on the bottom joint, middle joint, and plenty of range on the last joint (the Innogear had the most range here, but it struggled to maintain weight on that joint & seemed less sturdy for regular rotational movement). The headphone hook on it is flexible plastic.. you could cut it off if you wanted, but I repurposed it to hold some extra cables that kept getting in my way (but I needed nearby occassionally). Honestly, I would call this a name-brand stand, especially when compared to the others I tried. It had the same quality as Gator, but more range of motion and a better mount. If I could change anything about this stand, it'd just be to reduce the height of the base before the first joint... there's about 5" of excess vertical space at the base, but this may be part of what makes it so sturdy.

If you're like I was, and trying desperately to find a good mic boom on Amazon that will hold your heavy mic (Blue Yeti, for me)...this is the one. The joints are all very sturdy one you get it set up. Holds my mic at the weird angle I like with no problems. The swivel is smooth (also sturdy) and has a little knob of the base to help keep it from drifting if that's an issue. The hardware worked perfectly with my Blue Yeti and the shock mount that came with the mic. Now...there are some reviews that almost kept me from buying this. The biggest issue seems to be that the desk clamp doesn't close enough, so people have to put a shiv in between the clamp and desk. I also had this issue. It's because the headset holder arm is sandwiched between the base and the screw, taking away a good 1/2 inch. I removed the arm by taking out the 3 small screws, using needle nose pliers to remove the clip on the screw, taking the arm off, then putting it back together. Now it clamps tightly on my desk, no issues or shivs. I'm taking a star off because of the engineering oversight. If they wanted the arm (I guess some people might, but it seemed more like a hazard than a convenience), then they should have used a longer screw to ensure it would clamp. Otherwise, excellent boom at a decent price (could stand to be a few bucks cheaper). Get it.

I'd highly recommend this product as I've owned quite a few boom arms in my time. I have always spent money on condenser microphones for my PC setup. I've owned everything from BLUE Yeti, Blue Snowball, the Hyper X quadcast, the SHURE MV7, and more. This boom arm's aesthetic is top-notch and looks great with a black desk setup. The arming and clamping it on the desk was super easy with absolutely no hassle at all. I would argue to say it's one of the easiest boom arm setups I've done and I'm not great at doing that! It's also very sturdy and holds up great. Have had zero issues wiht it and if I had to recommend a boom arm, this would be one of my top choices.

If you hate adjusting your mic position every 1 - 3 minutes, skip this. When unpacking this arm mount, I was surprised with how sturdy it felt. I thought this would be a good fit, but just after setting up the mount to my desk and adding my mic (Shure SM7B), the mount position did not hold. Well, I tried to tighten the arm as the instructions state and though it's fully tightened, the arm will not stay in place. It swings away from me at the base and the secondary part that bends will not hold it's height. This is super disappointing as I am using a microphone that's advertised to be used with this mount. It's been disruptive to my work as I am forced to move my sitting/standing position just to be in the proper place where the mount has decided to stop moving to. I regret this purchase and wish I had returned it soon instead of just trying to 'deal with it.'
