  • sound better. unless you have a bad voice. then you're just louder but still bad.
it seems to work. i don't have the original one that this is clearly a knock off of for comparison. but i also still have $100 in my pocket, so ymmv. the first podcast i made with it, i wanted to make love to myself. my voice is so crisp now. so much gain. i think this will instantly make you an alpha male. ladies beware. my setup is a at2005usb mic and a zoom h6. it's built like a doorstop, and if i had a longer cable, i might give it a try. so easy. plug it in, start sounding better. boom. nahnahnahnah. ... show more

  • Low cost solution to boost gain on a power hog mic
Exactly what I needed to boost the gain of my Shure sm7b mic, which is a power hog. Perfect cost effective solution!

  • Can't Really Tell the Difference
I I bought my second SM7B and saved $40. Then I went to my "Saved for Later" list and found that the "Cloud Lifter" had gone up $30. This generic-looking thing was $79. I plugged it in and tried both back-to-back and so far.... I can't tell the difference in the two.

  • Really very good
The media could not be loaded. This is a microphone preamp. It’s commonly called in the business a ‘cloud lifter’. I wasn’t able to make it work at home, because I didn’t have the right equipment. But I took it to the professional studio when we had some studio time, and the tech set it up and it worked wonderfully. The preamp requires a 48 V phantom power pass-through to make it work properly. But when it does, it is amazing. I was actually able to watch the waveform on the monitors as the studio tech showed me the difference. You get a really thick boosting of the sound. But it’s not like a distortion or an altering of the waveform. I played my guitar into a micced amp, and the difference was stunning. My guitar sounded fat and full, unlike the thin sort of reedy, natural sound of a guitar. This particular preamp works, and works well. The sound quality is stunning. Highly recommend. ... show more

  • Works great, not sure of the point of the 5th 'foot' on the bottom
Thos device works great. I have an existing small studio and I got this to add a second set of equipment. I tested it with an SM7B mic into a Focusrite interface. I tested this Chkenon FC1 against the Cloud CL1 used in my existing setup. In my testing, I found this Chkenono FC1 to have a similar noise floor and a slightly higher recorded signal level, with no changes on my interface. The raw audio from FC1 also has a slightly brighter eq as compared to the CL1. The FC1 looks practically identical to the CL1 to the point that if it was not labeled, you could not really tell them apart with regards to size, shape, layout of components, and color of the chasis. The one thing that is different is the extra 'foot' on the bottom. Besides the corner feet in each corner, there is also another 'foot' in the center. It measures about 1" square. The CL1 also has this same feature. However on the FL1, the center foot is slightly taller that the corner feet and so it does not sit properly on the table surface. I took a couple of photos to illustrate the issue. One shows the layout of the feet on the bootom. The other shows the gap between the corner feet and the table caused by the middle foot. This does not affect the functionality, and the device works well for its intended purpose, but the fact that it does not sit level on its feet really bothers me. For that, I removed 1 star. ... show more
