Bought as an upgrade for an over 10 year old box spring and i wish we had bought this sooner. No more creaking sounds from simply tossing and turning, husband and i jumped on our mattress for an actually sturdiness check and it was SILENT. Pretty easy to assemble when you have more than one person, light weight too! The cover did have a chemically smell but just needs to be aired out before putting on! Bought this for our guest room. It’s practical and supports the mattress perfectly. The assembly was a lot more difficult than anticipated. You need to be pretty strong to be able to this together and some of the metal was slightly bent, which required more strength to straighten that out. It took a lot more time than I expected. Also, this is not a solid box spring but rather a metal box with a fabric cover over it. I did use the video instructions and I recommend those over the paper instructions. Getting a box spring in pieces in a smallish box in the mail is a new experience for me. It seems to be the new norm, though. I have recently been needing to replace my old mattress and box spring sets, despite some of them being sixty-year-old hand-me-downs, and the pop-open rollup mattresses and metal DIY box springs seem to be the way the bedding world has gone when I wasn't looking. The metal frame and slats were not hard to put together, but just took a bit of time. It ended up being lighter than a traditional box spring, but rigid and sort of clanky when placed on top of the bed frame. I also wonder if it will hold my mattress in place as well as my old one did. We will see, but there is no lip or clip or framework to keep the mattress from sliding beneath a restless sleeper like me. I will let you know how it goes.
