Got this rake to help with a backyard project. My husband and I cleared an area for a new shed and thought that this would come in handy to rake up leaves and debris. Assembly took no time at all, you just screw the handle in place. This is advertised as a heavy duty rake, but it honestly doesn’t feel that durable, quality is questionable and I didn’t find it very versatile. All in all I’ll use it until it breaks.

Would give 0 if I could. Broke on first use in typical soil. Lasted about 5 minutes. Do not buy. Not bothering to return because will be challenging to get into a box. Bought a different one instead

This is a new take on a garden rake. One side is for normal raking: the straight tines, the other sides curved tines will help in breaking up and dethatching the soil deeper down. I don’t know if they left out assembly instructions, but I was on my own with the assembly. Assuming you have a normal mechanical IQ, it should be an easy task to assemble the handle and the part that attaches the double sided rake to the handle. Three of the handle pieces screw into each other, the other end by the tines screw into the custom piece that holds the handle to the rake. I’m 5’ 9” so I only used 3 handle pieces. Lately some Chinese manufacturers have switched to a new way to screw things together. You actually now have a two piece screw to assemble: one end where the actual screw fits into. Basically you attach the part with the hole in it, then the other screw part. Trust me it will become obvious when it’s in front of you! I tested this out today on a 30’ long by 2’ wide area that had been planted with ivy many years ago. So the roots had a chance to grow up to 1/2” to ¾” wide over many years. Part of the time I was able to grab a fairly thick root and twist/pull to get it out. The rake does a good job in loosening the top soil if it’s not compacted. Otherwise, use the side with the curved tines for tougher areas. I was surprised that it does an OK job raking leaves and sticks off our driveway. Almost forgot: it was hard for me to line up the custom piece that attaches the rake to the handle. It’s a Very tight fit. I used a hammer to pound it in place. Lining up the screw holes is a chore, because they have to be perfectly aligned or the screws will not fit in! Actually using a hammer pointed out that the painted manganese steel did not chip at all using the hammer. I was concerned the custom coating on the steel was not a good choice for this rake, but after using it for 30 minutes in soil with some stones in it the tines were not damaged. Based on the quality materials and the excellent design I’d say this is a good deal for $26.99… it should last many years.
