I ordered this product for a badge and for a holder of a small garden flag on a garden stand. When the wind blows hard my flag would blow off its stand. I thought this kind of clip would hold the garden flag on its stand during wind storms and the clip would keep the flag attached to the holder.

The clips seem sturdy enough to hold a badge/id card, maybe up to three cards at once.
