This replaced an old drill I had for 15 years. The torque, features, light, speed, adjustability of this thing rocks. I love the settings for the drill and how easy they are to access, It is easy to know the status of the battery, It is comfortable in hand, the light is so functional. The 3 leds are so good at illuminating what you are working on. My eyes are old and it sure helps me. I am a Metabo fan boy now. The case is even fantastic. I also bought their impact bit kit. The bit case holds bits insanely tight, but the bits themselves are wonderful. I just bought some cheap bit strips and put them in the top of my case. I like that better anyway. I originally picked up a Triple Hammer locally, and when using it just found it to be such a nice tool that I now own 3 of them. I work on small engines, and it is easier to keep multiple tools with different sockets, bits, etc. nearby than to constantly have to switch them out. The toolbox has a lid with space for things like bits and drills, but I couldn't fit the 2.5 ah battery in there. One thing to note is the charger this comes with is not the rapid charger with the usb port and backwards charging capability (charge a device via usb cable while the charger is plugged into the wall or a battery pack is on the charger). Instead this comes with a Quick charger with no usb port. It charges the 18v 2.5ah battery in about 30 min with 1 bar, 36v 4ah with 2 bars in about 45 min or less. The impact is built well, stands up to abuse, has different modes to protect what you're working on of its delicate, or gives your full beans for driving lags or whatever you're up against. Ergonomics are outstanding. Standard Metabo hpt Lifetime warrenty and ip rating. For around 135 this is hard to beat. ... show more

This review is for the Metabo HPT 18V MultiVolt Cordless Triple Hammer Impact Driver Kit. IN the box you get the tool itself, a carrying bag, a charger, and 2 18v batteries. The charger is a legit benchtop charger with a fan to cool it down and everything. I love it, not every tool you get these days has one of these anymore. On the impact driver at the bottom there is a power selector so you can choose to use less power and torque if you don't need everything it has. There are 2 red bar followed by a blue and finally a green one. The first red bar is low speed, the second red bar is full speed, the blue bar has a P over it and it feels very similar to the second red bar, then the green one has an S and this mode ramps up the power slowly when you pull the trigger to what feels like full speed again. Then again towards the bottom of the tool where the battery connects there is a battery gauge to tell you how much you have left. Next to that there is a button that allows you to control the light on it, which is mounted near the trigger. One mode has the light on forever the other mode only turns it on for a short time when you pull the trigger. Of course there is also the option of having the light completely off as well. One thing to keep in mind about Metabo HPT is that they were formally named Hitachi Power Tools. They are in fact not the same company as Metabo and are just in some sort of partnership and they are not compatible brands of tools either and you cannot swap battery packs or other things between Metabo and Metabo HPT. You can however often swap battery packs between Hitachi and MEtabo HPT tools. Metabo is headquartered in Germany and they make quality professional tools. Metabo HPT is headquartered in Japan and they make more consumer level tools that are good quality as well. The impact driver as well as the charger are UL certified which is exactly the reason I buy name brand tools. I don't have to worry about charging these batteries in the other room as they are tested properly to make sure they are safe. This is a huge deal to me. I was real excited when I got this Metabo brushless 18 Volt impact driver. The first thing I did was start reading the manual. I was having some difficultly in charging the battery. As I started to read the manual and I realize it was not the correct manual for my impact driver purchase. I had received a manual for a drill. No problem I thought, I will just search online for the correct manual. I did find the correct manual online. As I read the manual I noticed that I had received the wrong battery charger and the wrong batteries. So I had read some positive comments about Metabo customer service. I called the 800 customer service. I explained my problem and I thought I would receive some sort of corrective action. I was wrong, no offer of any help and the customer service person was very unfriendly. Any offer would have been appreciated but nothing. Think twice about your purchase. I will be returning this to Amazon the seller. One thing I also noticed was the tool comes with a lifetime warranty, but on their website every product list had a price for the repair, makes me think about the lifetime warrantly. ... show more
