Better all around

Loving therse, a little more comfortable. The cameras look a little smaller. Sound is better. The 3d sound from videos played back is pretty amazing.

DONT BUY, TOTALLY WASTING YOUR MONEY
Color: Matte Black / Clear Lens Type: Standard Size: Standard
Don't buy the Meta Gen3 smart glasses under any circumstances. I bought mine just days after release—priced at the same as a PS5—and it's absolutely terrible. The AI response is extremely slow and can't sync properly with local models. The external earbuds' speakers are nearly silent outdoors; unless you're trying to cosplay someone carrying a speaker, turning up the volume only annoys others and risks damaging your hearing. Even the supposedly improved new video recording mode still doesn't support 16:9 aspect ratio, and videos still don't sync directly to your phone's gallery. The Meta assistant is practically useless—its main functions are pausing playback or skipping tracks, and asking about the weather. If you ask too much, it can't even understand. Honestly, having this thing is worse than just wearing AirPods and asking Siri. I really don't get how this product, in its third generation, is still so poorly designed and yet manages to maintain top sales. The ecosystem is awful, the value for money is abysmal, the frame design is ugly, and the AI model is incredibly stupid. It's already heavy—hard to imagine how much heavier a screen-equipped device priced like a smartphone could possibly be. I'm returning it immediately. This is pure intellectual tax. Before using it, I thought it was innovative and would save me time, but instead it's made my life more complicated and frustrating. What's the point? Honestly, I'd rather just keep wearing my Meta Quest at home every day. What exactly have you guys been doing, Meta? ... show more

Not for non techies...
Color: Matte Black / Clear Lens Type: Standard Size: Large
Not all Meta Glasses, actually only one pair have the lense thing. I learned that, these do not show anything on the lenses. You do get Meta AI and a whole bunch of options for them to collect so much data to possibly get Mr. Zuckerberg another yacht. Works great as a regular speaker but had the video/camera option to explain what you are looking at. That sounds cool till you realize, this is just recon for some weirdo in LA. ... show more

Didn’t expect to love these so much! Havana is beautiful, but I wish I got transition lenses!
Color: Havana / Green Lens Type: Standard Size: Standard
I wasn’t completely sold on the idea of smart glasses before getting these, but now I find myself reaching for them almost every day! First, the Havana/Green color combination is beautiful. I do want to mention that I really don’t see much green in the lenses at all! There’s maybe a very slight green hue, but it’s hardly noticeable, especially when you’re wearing them. The lenses are also pretty dark, which is great for sun protection, but not so great if you want to wear them indoors without looking a little strange. One thing I’ve discovered that I actually love is wearing them on top of my head when I’m inside. I can still listen to music or hear my text messages being read aloud without actually wearing the dark lenses over my eyes. It’s surprisingly convenient! I have an iPhone, and setup was pretty straightforward. They connected without much trouble and have worked pretty flawlessly since. You just download the Meta app, and getting your photos and videos onto your phone to share is incredibly easy. There are even ways to share directly to social media without reviewing everything on your phone first, but I care a little too much about what I’m posting to trust that feature just yet! The picture and video quality are both better than I expected. I also really prefer the coverage and overall fit of the Wayfarer style compared to the Zena style. I was initially worried that Wayfarers might look a little too masculine on me, but I actually love how they look! The Havana frame is such a classic, stylish color that goes with practically anything. Battery life is probably one of my bigger complaints. When I’m listening to music and having texts read to me throughout the day, the battery doesn’t make it through an entire day. However, if you’re primarily wearing them outside or while running errands, I think the battery life is much more reasonable. The charging case is really convenient, and popping them back in for a little while generally gives me enough charge to finish out my day. My biggest regret is honestly choosing the regular sunglass lenses instead of transition or clear lenses. I love the sun protection, but I’ve enjoyed the actual smart features so much that I wish I could wear them more often indoors, too. I’ve even considered having the lenses changed because I like the glasses that much. Overall, these have been such a pleasant surprise. I went from questioning whether I’d actually use smart glasses to wanting to incorporate them into my everyday routine. They’re stylish, convenient, easy to use, and the camera quality genuinely impressed me. I’d absolutely recommend them, but I’d seriously consider transition lenses if you want to get the most versatility out of them! ... show more

Spyware?
Color: Shiny Black / Green Lens Type: Polarized Size: Large
When I went to start reviewing these I found an article on arstechnica saying these things are actually always listening to you, even when that's turned off. Because of that and meta's history I decided to not even install the app (is there one?) to use these. I also only connected it to my linux pc instead of my phone, through bluetooth. These are some of the goofiest looking glasses I have. I wanted to like them but I just can't. I normally wear aviators. I've never really liked ray-bans but I'm heavily involved in the IT world and wanted to try these out. I just can't wear them. These do fit comfortably though. I didn't expect that. They aren't overweight either. The lenses seem to just be regular sunglass lenses, like tinted glass. They block the sun. The plastic they chose is great for comfort but it's a fingerprint magnet. These things get dirty looking so quick. The biggest selling point for these should not be the cameras but the headphones. I cannot believe the quality of the audio output. I was listening to music and took them off and I couldn't hear the music coming from them. I don't know how that works but that is really cool. They should remove the cameras and start just offering this kind of headphone thing with prescription lenses and options that aren't sunglasses. I am just super impressed with the audio. This could probably also be used for hearing aids as well. Overall the quality of the glasses is great. I couldn't test the cameras because seemingly at the moment these are actually used to spy on people instead of being a practical product people can use. They have really good software developers at meta, with llama ai and zstd compression, so I do not at all suspect this "spyware" was an accident. These type of lenses make these glasses not very versatile because the only environment you could actually use them in is outside in the sun. The glasses may be good for scanning the environment and talking to you and stuff ( i have no idea ) but with the spyware and the price these get a 2/5 and only because the audio is excellent. These are not worth anywhere near $500 for strangers to see what you are looking at in your own home. ... show more
