I hadn't really thought about smart glasses before ordering these. I do use several bluetooth devices for listening to audio books and phone audio, and various cameras. I also use echo assistants and google for queries and interactive help. I've long had a Facebook account but have resisted installing the separate messenger app or linking it to my other accounts. So one of the first things I had to decide is whether to get good use out of these by giving some more permissions, and ultimately I let it access the video and photos on my phone, link to my Facebook account, and some other things. As I use it more, we'll see if I grant other permissions. I'm still holding out on sharing the address book, so can't use the glasses to call yet. But I am quite impressed with my initial usage. I learned quickly that these are primarily useful as a capture device, for listening to things that I can on my phone, and for providing information - again that is already accessible via the phone, but its much quicker and easier - provided the glasses are already on. I'm still not quite sure how the audio works, but it sounds really clear. The glasses have some kind of sensor or something when they are on, because they don't play sound when removed, or even lifted up high. I tried to assess how loud the sound might be - whether other people are likely to hear it, but learned that removed I can't do that by myself. I'll have to let somebody else wear them with the sound on and see. I realize that these are excellent for listening to audiobooks while I'm doing other things. I often stroll my home orchard, and also take pictures of the developing flowers and fruit, or watch new grafts take and grow. With these I can listen to an audiobook while I walk around, and snap the pictures or take short videos as I go. Perhaps I'll do that with some narration. I haven't yet tried napping or sleeping with them on. They are comfortable enough that I'd consider giving it a try. Though the battery life of 8 hours isn't conducive to overnight. They fit me pretty well. I got the standard and the arms spread a little to match the width of my head, but there is still more room to go in the springs. I decided on these over the large because a search showed my PD from my reading glasses description is slightly below average for an adult. And there's my biggest question about how suitable these are. I need reading glasses, and these are in the way of the ones I use. I actually put a pair on top and it works fine, but I'm sure I look like a crazy person. I saw that one could get prescription lenses for them but 1) these are transitions and that would be a waste to pull them and 2) I also want to be able to walk around with them and see distance. Perhaps even drive, though I have dashcam already. I'll see. My other gripe, and perhaps the main reason I've avoided other wearables, is that these cannot be charged directly, there's no charge port. Instead there are electrical contacts that connect when the glasses are put into the case. The case is also a battery so it can recharge the glasses even without another power source. But I don't want to carry the case around with me, and I usually have USP C ports handy. It would have been great it it could take USB C directly. I hear there are aftermarket chargers that are more compact than the case. If I really use these a lot, I may look into having some other chargers to keep key places like in my car and at my work.

I was really excited to buy the newest version of these smart glasses, especially for my trip to Japan and Korea. The live translation feature was the main reason I purchased them, but unfortunately, it did not live up to expectations. I'm a native Korean speaker, so I tested the Korean translation in many different ways. The translations were frequently incorrect, and sometimes they were so inaccurate that they completely changed the meaning. Even more disappointing, the translated speech often didn't play through the speakers as advertised. I also tried using the camera to translate Japanese restaurant menus. It recognized the large English word "MENU," but after that it couldn't recognize or translate any of the actual Japanese text on the menu. This was one of the features I was most excited about, so it was very frustrating. Another downside is music support. Spotify, Amazon Music, and Apple Music are supported, but YouTube Music isn't. Since YouTube Music is my primary streaming service, this was another major inconvenience. I really wanted to love these glasses because the concept is fantastic, but the translation features simply weren't reliable enough for real-world travel. I ended up returning them. I hope future software updates improve the translation accuracy and add YouTube Music support, because the hardware has a lot of potential.

I debated about ordering Meta AI glasses. I wasn't sure if I really wanted AI on my face. I wasn't sure if I wanted to be a contributor to the negative impact that AI has on our environment. However, from my understanding, Meta does use a closed loop water system. Therefore, I ordered them and boy am I glad I did! These glasses are amazing for a mom of two toddlers who's hands are always tied up doing something. There are soooooo many wonderful things, where do I start?! 1. PRO: They include a QR code that you scan and it walks you through the process and it's super simple and quick! CON: They need to be connected to your phone to work. 2. PRO: I can ask these glasses to take a video or picture. Which means I don't have to go bounding through my home searching for my phone that I lose 157,060,310 times a day, to capture a precious moment of my children. I also don't have to take my eyes off of them to take the photo or video. I can be in the moment. 3. PRO: It takes super clear photos and videos. I'd say just as great as my phone does. I had it video my drive for 35 seconds (which I will not upload for security reasons) and everything was clear as day. I was shocked!!! CON: One thing I will note is that it does blink a blue light that other people can see if you take a photo or recording. I live in a state that has a 1 party consent law and it would have been nice to record conversations between an aggressor and myself without agitating them more. 4. PRO: There are multiple voices to choose from and you can ask them to have an accent. CON: I gave mine a nickname, but it'll only wakeup with the words "Hey Meta" 5. PRO: The transition lenses don't get super dark, which I prefer. 6. PRO: The noises it makes aren't all that bad. It's more peaceful, rather than annoying like machinery. The speakers play nice sound. So far I haven't noticed any static. I really enjoy that I can still hear all of my surroundings while listening to my Podcasts, and it's super simple to pause and play. 7. CON: The reason for my 4 star vs. 5 star review. It will not read any WhatsApp messages to me that are longer than 1 minute. It does require me to open my phone and play the message. It will play the message through the earpiece speakers though and notify that I have a message. 8. PRO: Nose pieces are adjustable. CON: I have a child size head and the standard size is still a bit too big for my face and they keep slipping down my nose. Even on the smallest setting. 9. PRO: The eyeglass case is what charges the glasses. CON: These do not come with a charging adapter nor do they come with a charging cord, which I found as odd considering the cost. 10. PRO: You can change the settings to automatically transfer video and photos from the glasses to your phone. Overall, I'd highly recommend these glasses!!

If you are a fan of smart glasses, you should check out the new Meta Adventurer AI Glasses. For some perspective, I have had the Meta RayBan Wayfarers (2nd gen) and currently have the Meta Oakley Vanguards. The Adventurer glasses have the same technology, with a better fit, thanks to the adjustable nose pieces and bow ends. The tech is the same as the 2nd gen Wayfarers, with 12 meg still photos and up to 3k video. The audio directs the sound to your ears and sounds good. The new Meta AI Muse Spark is more conversational. The controls on the camera are similar, with the addition of an "action button" to activate the Meta AI or can be used for additional video features. All this, combined with a lower price makes the Meta Adventurers a good buy. The case is more compact than the Wayfarer case and actually folds relatively flat. Style-wise, to my eyes, these are very similar to the Wayfarers. Seems that Meta has taken their experience with the Wayfarers and added their own style to it.

I've been very impressed with these smart glasses so far. The transition lenses are one of my favorite features—they adjust well to changing light conditions, making it easy to wear them both indoors and outside without constantly switching glasses. Connecting them to my phone and the companion app was quick and straightforward. Everything paired easily, and the setup process only took a few minutes. The sound quality is surprisingly good for both music and phone calls, with clear audio that doesn't feel overwhelming. The charging case is another big plus. It makes charging the glasses simple and convenient while also protecting them when they're not in use. I also appreciate the portability since I can easily recharge them on the go. I haven't had the opportunity to fully test the live translation feature yet, but it's one of the features I'm most excited about. So meta, meta, meta, meta, meta. It seems like meta is everywhere these days. I can tell you I have never used a Meta product other than the VR headset. I am partial to Google Assistant and Gemini for my smart home devices and I am as unfamiliar with Alexa as I am with Meta's AI. I've literally never used it before today. I'm an iPhone user but I am anti-Siri because I think she's the worst thing ever but I digress. My point is to let you know my experience when it comes to AI and the different agents available when it comes to these glasses. I am quite amazed at how responsive Meta is. It's almost a pleasure to use. I'm disappointed that I don't have really any way to integrate both Meta and Google. If not into these glasses then maybe somehow incorporate Meta into my home system and somehow utilize the two together. Even though I can't really see a practical use for that, that should give you an idea of how impressed I am with the AI. Also the little sounds and beeps that they use are unique and quite pleasurable to listen to. When you press camera or start to record a video, the noises that it uses just have a nice sort of sound to them and I don't think you can ever get tired of hearing it. Whereas certain dings and buzzes and things like that become really frustrating for me as I am quite noise sensitive. I don't think I will ever get tired of the noises that come out of these glasses. You do have to pair this with your phone but it's extremely streamlined and caused me not one single hiccup. It worked exactly the way it's supposed to and it does so in less than 30 seconds. Setup is nothing and it takes almost no time to do it. I've noticed that it just works. When I record a video, it just shows up in the app and I can choose to import it into my phone or not. Sending a video through the glasses instead of importing it into your phone and sending it that way is pretty easy too. You just say, "Hey Metis, send my video or send my latest video or send my latest picture." The only caveat is the video has to be less than 15 seconds, otherwise you have to do it through your phone. When you do it through the glasses, it creates a link by storing the video in the cloud and then sharing the link, which means you have to wait for it to upload. One thing that I find very... I don't know, frustrating, is that in order to transfer the files from the glasses to your phone, the phone has to connect to the Wi-Fi that the glasses makes. Whenever you try to transfer pictures, the glasses will put out a Wi-Fi SSID and your phone automatically connects to that and then transfers the files and then disconnects. The reason why that bothers me I'm not really sure. I just feel like it's kind of unnecessary. However as I'm writing this review, it's dawning on me that this makes it possible for you to transfer the videos or the pictures to your phone even when there's no internet. That way you can clear up space on the glasses and still continue to record or whatever it is, even when you're camping or out on the lake. Now that I'm saying that out loud, it actually makes perfect sense, even though it feels like Bluetooth would be able to do that as well. I have a feeling the Wi-Fi is more stable so I'm going to view that as a feature and I think that you should too, as opposed to a flaw. Having said that I really can't find a single negative thing to say about these, which surprises me. I was really expecting to have an issue somewhere along the way. I have no idea how long the battery will last if you're recording for as long as possible. I haven't done that type of testing just because I don't live that exciting of a life. I don't really need a video that long yet but I'm sure I'll come up with something. In the meantime I can tell you that I'm typically a fan of the Ray-Ban Wayfarers and the look of them. It seems like the Metafury would match those pretty well but in fact the Adventurer looks way better on me so keep that in mind. If you are a fan of the way Ray-Bans look, as far as their Wayfarers, and you are looking for the equivalent of the Meta Design glasses, I'm going to recommend the Adventurer. They just have the same sort of look but a little bit better and the frames are smaller than the Furies. Keep that in mind. The Fury seems to have bigger frames and bigger ear legs (whatever those things are that go over your ears). I'm going to call them ear legs. Those are noticeably bigger on the Fury whereas on the Adventurer it's kind of hard to tell that they're hiding some technology in there, which I'm very impressed with. I have no idea what the original Meta glasses come with as far as a case but this one holds the charging and the wireless charging is done by sliding the glasses into the case and a little thing holds them down. I have no idea if that's the way the old ones are but I was quite impressed with it. The way you turn the glasses on is just by opening the ear legs and putting them on and the way you turn it off is just by closing the ear legs but you have to take them up to your face first. One thing that irritates me beyond belief is that nowadays when you buy an electronic device, for some reason cheaper companies do not include a charging adapter. They just give you the cable. Meta does neither. They don't give you a charging adapter nor do they even give you a cable. They just want you to use your phone cable, I guess, and hopefully you can keep switching between charging your phone and charging your glasses. I'm sure the majority of us have multiple USB chargers but still when you're spending as much money as we consumers spend on electronics right now, there is no reason for them not to include a $4 or $5 charger. It can't cost them more than that much to manufacture a charger. How much does a USB cable cost a giant manufacturer like Meta? $0.30? $0.50? For God's sake just include a USB cable. Make it a high-quality one so I'm reminded of how high quality my glasses are every time I charge them or every time I pick up that cable and I feel the high-quality build. That would remind me of how high quality my glasses are but I guess Meta doesn't care about that. I really am frustrated with that; however I'm not going to take away a star because it's probably a non-issue for anybody else but just keep in mind you better have your own USB-C cable.
