One edge of this sheath is open. I'm used to sheaths only having the end open which is how I was sliding the knife into the sheath. However, I found out by cutting my thumb while sliding the knife into the sheath from the end that the sheath was open on one side. I ended up with a significant cut. I had to mark it on my own which side was open and which side was not. There are no instructions or information included with the sheath packaging. ... show more

I bought an 8 inch Japanese Chef's knife recently and quickly realized I would need some sort of knife cover to make sure the blade is not damaged when in storage, (esp the tip as they can break) as well as protect others who might not know just how sharp this knife really is. When I received it I immediately put it on my knife and I was really happy to find it slid onto my knife perfectly and did not budge at all away which gave me peace of mind.
