I'm normally a 7.5 in running shoes, so I felt comfortable ordering the same size for a hiking boot. My toes had just the right amount of space without excess wiggle room. I did however go with recommendations to get the wide fit. It's much heavier than my normal shoes (duh), and I had planned on breaking them in throughout the week before my Mt. Fuji climb in Japan. Due to schedule conflicts, I unfortunately did not get to wear them until the day before the climb. I was worried because these are uncomfortable if I'm not moving, and I was sitting a lot in trains and buses to my destination that night. It's almost like these shoes have to be in active mode to feel good! On the climb, these were incredibly COMFORTABLE!! I was shocked that I never once actually thought about my feet or the shoes and they had phenomenal grip on wet surfaces. I normally don't have high-top shoes and was also concerned on how that would feel on my ankles. I wore long socks and didn't feel anything at all! It did rain at random moments during the climb and I never once had sloshy socks, they worked great in keeping my feet dry. Wearing them for a 5.5 hour steep climb and a 3.5 hour steep descend, these shoes were absolutely amazing! I highly recommend them!

Personal cons that may help you. 1. I felt the arch support but these boots felt like they had a high heel height, almost like a chunky combat boot. I want my boots relatively flat, because too much heel height isn’t good for my hips. 2. The ankle height is odd. Not a sneaker but not a boot. I would have preferred one or the other, not an in between. A tightly tied shoe made the ankle feel strange. 3. I’m between 8.5-9. I’m never bigger than a 9 and usually have room for socks with a 9. This hit my toes in the front toe box. Aka Runs small 4. the overall shoe felt loose/big around my foot. I like my shoes snug. It’s a preference. I’d you have wide feet, this might be a hood option. Overall the boot is high quality and super cool looking. But the fit wasn’t for me.

I bought a pair of the Moab’s and a pair of keens to see which one fit better and was more comfortable. The first day hiking I wore the Keens and came home with sores on both my ankles after only 6 miles. I wore the Moabs from that day forward, and not only did I not get anymore sores, but I feel like they only took about 30 minutes of hiking to break in. I initially thought I was going to have to suffer through the keens bc they have a wide toe box, but the Moab 3’s come in a wide-fit and my feet are in LOVE!

I couldn't believe it! This boot fit perfectly with that worn in feeling right out of the box. I spent hours looking at different hiking boots and reading reviews before I settled on this boot. I bought a wide 1/2 size larger than my normal size to accommodate an injury that resulted in a dang bunion, which is a real problem. I figured I would return if it didn't work out, and I pretty much expected it not to work out. But...happy ending. This boot is expertly crafted and good looking (as far as hiking boots go). I do my hiking in Colorado. Plenty of rough stuff to climb over and these boots do the job. Who has time to break in boots? I highly recommend.

I have had these shoes all summer and have done numerous hikes. They didn't hurt to brake in and as someone who has to have shoe inserts in everyday these were great. Didn't put any inserts in and my feet haven't hurt on a single hike. I also have slightly wider feet and the wide fits great! Highly recommend!

They fit PERFECTLY and I can be in them for hours and my feet do not get sweaty, achy.. nothing! Enough room for socks and your feet to move around and adjust according to your movement...

The are great true to size no breaking in . Could not have these shipped to my post office box but they were shipped via the postal service . Makes zero sense . I ha be a post office box so I don’t have to deal with many l box pirates. My mail box is ionnthe main road vulnerable to the pirates .

I hike and walk in these. I am a huge splasher so these being true waterproof was important. I didn't have to sacrifice style for functionality. I am a 7 and 1/2 but I always get a half size up for boots or shoes like these. The size 8 turned out to be perfect and left room for good socks.

I bought the lower rise in these and when I saw the price I knew I needed the taller ones too. I'm not a hiker but I need a sturdy shoe to wear when I work around my property or walk my dogs! These give just the right of support and were super comfy from day 1. Love Merrells!

I'm a size 9 but I buy 9.5 in Merrell hiking boots specifically. I guess that's what I've always done, I never even tried the nine. Anyway, these are super comfortable and supportive and I love the color. Really great boots. I hiked 7 miles 2 days in a row and there was zero break in period. I have like 10 pairs of merrels, sandals, hiking boots, hiking shoes, minimal hiking shoes, jungle mocs, Sherpa lined winter boots, winter hiking boots, icy jungle mocs. I even have a pair of fleece lined slipper type boots. I had another pair of slippers as well and they are just all so comfortable I love him so much
