These are the only brand of hiking boots that I don't need a break in period for. I hike an average of 5-8 miles a day in rough terrain for work and I can put on a brand-new pair of these boots and never have any pain. They are also fully waterproof and do well on slick surfaces. I have used this brand of boots for multiple years working as a wildlife technician. This means multiple years of hiking miles on end everyday, many 14-20 hour days, hiking through creeks, over snow, up to 13,000ft in elevation, occasional running, and I will not use another brand. I recently did throw this pair away after stretching these out for two seasons. They lasted a very long time and for many miles. I eventually threw them away because 1) they were old and I needed a new pair and 2) unfortunately they're not fire proof and I was doing an overnight capture and got a little too close to the fire with my boots and they burned.

I haven't had a chance to wear these much, that is why the late review. Very comfortable & perfect fit. I have high arches & no issues with these boots. Finally was able to try them out in the snow & slush, they were amazing! Was walking the dog with my daughter in Maryland last weekend, stepped into a slushy puddle well over the sole of the boot & my feet stayed dry! I was very happy with their performance. Would definitely recommend!

I needed something with arch support and these have pretty good support, they are wide enough and comfortable. I walked about 3 miles the first time I wore them without any problems.

These are not the cutest, but what hiking shoes are?! They are so comfortable! Definitely recommend! I wear a 9.5 in tennis shoes and 10 in boots. I ordered the 10 and they fit perfect!

I have been wearing mine around the house to break them in and so far they are very comfortable. The arch support is very good and I don’t have to put my custom orthotics in them. This is key for me! Hope to wear on my first hike this weekend. The only concern I have is that I am not sure how long they will hold up as the quality seems lacking.

not comfortable ... the tongue where it connects to fabric is bulky and incredibly uncomfortable ontop of my foot. Ive tried lacing it differently with different socks, wearing them around the house to break in . I love merrels and unfortunately the style i have that i was replacing is no longer being made . I tried these and i find them to be poorly designed and cheap feeling

I tried on 10+ hiking boots from various brands and cost brackets. These were by far the comfiest on your heels. I read a review that they feel like walking on clouds, and I’d have to agree. Unfortunately, I returned these boots for two reasons: 1. Although they had a lot of padding under the foot, the sole felt completely flat and it felt like there was no support. 2. The boots didn’t come up very high on my ankle, and as someone who has broken my ankle before, I find it very important to have a boot that gives me great ankle support while I’m hiking on unstable terrain. I also tried on a pair of the exact same boots but for men and I find it very sad that Merrell makes the same style for men and women but gets rid of the sole and ankle support for the women’s version.
