I have several incubators and like this particular design as it's safer for newly hatched chicks to not get trapped and die. It's a simple construction and the eggs are positioned on the bottom of the incubator and then motor just turns the guide to roll the eggs slightly. When the eggs hatch, there's no room for the chicks to drop down and get stuck. The motor turns the guide slowly so that the chicks don't get stuck in the guides so easily. Other designs may have rods that are suspended an inch or two above and the hatchlings can get stuck and die. The heaters can keep the temperature constant and at 100 degrees for my chicken eggs. They tell you in colder rooms to keep the shipping foam to help insulate and prevent cooling - and it does work. The way the water guides channel on the outer ring of the incubator actually helps to conserve water usage yet keep the humidity levels at the desired level. I have one incubator that uses a lot of water (as in a quart every 2 days) because of the poor design. There are 2 egg holder/guides - one for chicken eggs and the other for small eggs (like quail size). Overall, it works very well and I have hatched a couple of dozen eggs already in the past month with no fatalities. ... show more

Big “flying saucer” style incubator. Comes with notched planes to help with automatic egg rotation, will work for a variety of eggs but the small holes are too small for “jumbo” coturnix quail eggs. I just put 2 in the bigger pockets and it turns the eggs just fine. The egg candler is very bright. Most of the built in incubator lights I’ve used are not this bright. Easy to change the temperature set point, reads in Fahrenheit, comes with a few accessories to help make your hatching experience go smoothly such as hoses and bottle cradles (no bottles included) to help humidity the inside, foam enclosure to help stabilize the temperature if your ambient temp is much colder than incubation temp. The instructions aren’t the best- although it is simple to put together and use, it is not advised to spray the eggs with water right before hatching to soften the egg shells. First of all water will not soften the egg shell, second water directly on the egg could interfere with the gas exchange across the shell, effectively drowning your chicks if they’ve started breathing, and wetting the surface may also destabilize the temperature of the egg (evaporative cooling). Many experienced hatchers advise against helping the eggs hatch, or messing around unnecessarily in an open incubator, again due to destabilizing the temperature. So take the instructions with a grain of salt, there are better ones out there. ... show more

The egg turner never worked and if you buy it better check it before you can’t return it to Amazon , if you buy the warranty , you have to go through ashurion for everything . And you also better make sure your surface is exactly level .

Ok I have had this one long enough to do two hatches out of it. I like that you hook the water bottles up at different times to adjust the humidity. I do not like that It has no way to read the humidity. I'm only getting about 50% hatch rate if that with this. Not sure as of yet if its my eggs, the machine, or human error. Will update with more details later on after a couple more hatches being done. Stays 100 degrees without adding styrofoam. ... show more

    • Different Use Perspective
I bought this for a slightly different use than an incubator. I have an insulated box that I use for keeping honey from crystallizing. What I like about it, is the ability to set a specific temperature and it will hold at that temperature. Real honey over time will crystallize and to prevent this it must stay warm, but if it gets too. warm then you can kill some of the beneficial enzymes in the honey. Anything over 104 degrees can start to kill the enzymes, so having this incubator inside my storage box, which is as large as a refrigerator, will keep my honey from crystalizing but also keep it fresh and ready to sell. While not the conventional use for this, the features surrounding the heating are very well made and accurate. ... show more
