  • Old time favorite board game
Board games have honestly become one of my favorite ways to relax and spend quality time. Whether it’s a family night or hanging out with friends, they always bring so much fun and laughter. There’s something special about putting the phones away and actually connecting, competing, and working together in real life. ... show more

  • Great Value
Grandma and the little 6 year old had a hoot playing these classic games. It's a lot of pieces but I like that all the games fit in the box for easy clean up and storage.

  • 4 1/2 stars: Great value for the price but some games are worth more than all the others combined.
I bought this game set for a research project where I'm looking at the different ways game rules are described, so I was a little disappointed that there aren't really 100 games here. But I was prepared for some repetition, they are clear about it only having 10 boards. It really is about 10 board games (one of them is the solitaire peg puzzle, so really 9 multiplayer board games) and 36 dice games (some don't mention the number of dice to play with, you'll have to look that up or remember a game by the same name), and the remaining 54 are match-stick puzzles (you can play them with multiple people but once you've solved it there is no challenge left to it, and some are kind of a trick/riddle to get the solution, but at least they give you all of the solutions. So, it depends on how you count, whether you think this is 10% their claim or ~50% their claim of 100 games, or if you count all of them. Really, they could have included a few chess variants and the simplified forms of Morris, a Go board instead of two checkered boards (and count go's smaller variants, and gomoku, renju, easily doubling the number of classic board games. If producing the pieces isn't a significant part of the overhead then include Shogi and/or some Fairy Chess pieces and you'd have a really unique package. Even without any extra equipment, the solitaire board can be reused for Fox and Geese, and if it were adapted to include the 5x5 board then there are a few more games in that realm. But it's good, and deserving of at least four stars, and it's perfect for the younger ones in your life because the boards and pieces are durable enough, and if you lose a piece or scratch one of the boards it still retains nearly all the value it had anyway because of the other games in the set. And (with the exception of the 50 match-stick puzzles) I give credit for there being enough variety, with some being purely abstract strategy (Morris, Checkers, Chess) and some being race games that depend largely on dice rolls (Goose, Race, S&L) including more sophisticated race games (Chinese Checkers, Pachisi, Backgammon) Details about what's in the package: 10 different board layouts -- 5 double-sided square surfaces measuring 10.5" (26.6 cm) on each side These are double-sided, and feel like the consistency of a reusable placemat. There aren't pits or magnets to help with holding the pieces still, but I can tell they would take a decent amount of abuse and still be playable. All the pieces are plastic, feels like maybe PET and dyed not painted/stickers, so also resilient like the boards. The chess and checkers pieces are small enough to justify the 6+ age rating. The full equipment includes: 1 full chess set (the pieces are a little small but they fit the boards) 1 full checkers set (12 pieces per side, also a bit small but bigger than travel-sized) 10 "men" of 6 different colors (black, blue, green, red, white, yellow) 40 "match-sticks", as 8 each of 5 different colors (blue, green, red, white, yellow) 5 six-sided dice (two black, three white) 1 doubler die (for wagering in backgammon) There isn't a Mancala board! I would have swapped it for the race board (there are already a couple of other race games included; three of them straight racing games and two that are races with crossing paths). Really, there is a lot you could do with just adding one more board page (two more layouts) without changing the production of the existing five. If it were really up to me, I would have included a dominoes set too, though, and 20-30 variations of dominoes with a lot fewer match-stick puzzles. With some effort, maybe get close to 33/33/33 distribution of board, dice and dominoes games. The hundredth game can be GHOST or something that needs neither board nor equipment. And while you don't get enough pieces to play Fox & Geese, if you play with different colors for the sheep you can do it on the solitaire board. This includes a few variants having different numbers of sheep or foxes, or different movement rules like with Asalto. With the checkers board & pieces, you can play Fox & Hounds, and the Morris board can be reused in a few variations too. But 100 games? It's not quite there. ... show more

  • Good Quality-Control Is Very Evident
The media could not be loaded. This is a good set to bring the different generations together during winter break and holiday family visits. If you're considering it as a gift for children, the boards need to be treated with a bit of care. They are cardboard that is about 2 or 3 times the thickness and hardness of a cereal box. Both sides have a matte plastic coating that seems to add to the hardness of the boards. The color prints on them make them have the appearance of actual color-stained wood. The Chimese Checkers board had a slight curve, but the plastic coating makes it safe to use gift-wrap tape (or sticky dots) to hold it flat on the table. The plastic playing pieces all seem well shaped and smoothed off (tops of Bishops and Kings, the exception) before packaging. The thickness and weight of the plastic used makes up for the smaller size. The bottoms of each piece are level and wide enough that they set down in place quite readily if you don't drop them from too far above the board. The Checker pieces have a wood grain design embossed on them. The dice are also good quality. The instructions explain the rules of the board games, how to play 36 dice games, and after that, it shows 108 "matchstick" puzzle games (which can be quite compelling once you understand the rules). ... show more

  • Lots of games, great value!
The board games are great and you can play by yourself or other people. It said 100 games because it’s mostly stick games whereby you arrange the sticks to solve a puzzle. It’s kinda fun. When I was researching for board games I was confused how could a few boards have 100 games. Now I understand.
