I love chess. I'm good at chess. I can't find people around me that like chess and offer a meaningful challenge. Enter Chessup 2. I can't connect it seamlessly to my Chess.com account and play bots, practice, and play whenever I want. Even without the Chess.com interpretation, the board has built in AI opponents that challenge me and make the experience fun and engaging. It's large enough to be comfortable to play in, but compact enough that it fits in my laptop backpack and I can take it places if I want. It's not designed for travel, but for camping of vacation, I imagine it would travel well enough. It feels solid, but is light weight. The pieces have some decent weight, but are not as heavy as other premium pieces. A small compromise, and in my opinion, worth it. They have a nice clank and do not sound or feel cheap. The integration of the LEDs in the board and the individual settings for two player, means my daughter can get hints while I get only legal moves, showing her how to best place pieces and she's learning to strategize. Myself, as a more experienced player, find the CPU challenging enough to be engaging and fun. I have also improved using this board. By This is the best "toy" I've purchased in a while. I find it to be well built and it works as advertised, with setup only taking a couple minutes. Now, it's turn it on and it connects. I have been playing other people o er the board too and I'm never without an engaging opponent. Worth it, if you enjoy chess, no questions about it.

My kid loves to play chess, and I don’t want him to be on his tablet all the time. You can link this board with chess.com (which you will need to do via the ChessUp app the first time), and play with other people from chess.com. After the initial setup, you can start games directly from the mini screen on the board (as long as you have WiFi) It is great for beginners, as it can show you where you can move with the piece by lighting up the board. The pieces feel like they are good quality. It is not magnetic, which isn’t a problem and it is not small enough for travel. It is expensive, but it is worth it in the long run.

STOP!!! If you found this chess set and you are worried about the price relax. This is a quality product, and settling for less gets you just that. Its not a work of art but it does work well. Only a few cautious notes. Its a real effort to get it hooked into your wifi and set through chess.com and the chessup app on your phone. You will probably be at it for a while. Especially with the clunky user interface on the screen. Have faith. You can do it. When you're done the worst is over. I was upset to have my order come packaged in a larger Amazon box but no packing material to keep it from banging around inside. This is a delicate and costly mechanism and should be shipped with better care. I was lucky and it worked perfectly out of the box. Looks good. Feels good. Works good. Great for chess enthusiasts.

I bought this board as a gift for my son, who is into chess, which is better than getting into drugs. He loves it, and now I'm the best dad he ever had. The board teaches you how to place, can give you pointers and advice on the best moves, and can even help one player of a game without helping the other. It's kind of like leveling the playing field. You can even play people online with this board. Overall, it's a really fun board with lots of uses.

It is a very fun board to play on. Connects super easy to my phone no problem. My only gripe is the board feels a little cheep for being 400 bucks. The pieces have a little weight to them, but you can see the mold lines on them from when they were made. The board is entirely made of plastic, although it does seam to be high quality plastic. As far as I can tell theres no flex in the board at all. If they added a metal band around the board to give it more of that 400 dollar feel it would be an easy 5 star. It also doesnt really provide as much as youd expect. I was hoping I could play chess.com coaches, but you can only play online and bots. After that disappointment I figured i could learn a few openings with the included lessons in the app, but it only covers basic fundamentals and mates. Great for casual play and playing online with a physical board, but not so great if you take chess extremely seriously and want to learn somthing from this thing
