I guess the other two previous reviews on this sight were low enough to prompt Amazon to lower the price by $200 for a short time. If that was the reason, thanks guys! I got this sight for less than $350. Other seller's reviews on this sight (various reticles) are all in the 4 to 5 star range. It's well over $500 elsewhere. If it's good enough for the Israeli Defense Forces, it's good enough for me. It's battle-tested, built to take a beating, never needs batteries, and it's always on and ready. Sure I've heard the comparisons with sights with batteries and there is a trade-off in brightness in some situations. But that trade-off is well worth it in my opinion. I'm very happy with this purchase. Update 5/11/2014: One complaint about this sight is the washout that is experienced when looking from a darker area into a lighter area, or when using your mounted flashlight in a dark room. The reticle can dim significantly or completely disappear. If you shine a flashlight directly into the fiber optic collectors, you will notice the problem goes away, you get a bright, clear reticle. But of course you can't use a regular flashlight for that purpose. Fortunately there is a tiny, mountable LED flashlight you can buy for about $30 called the Wash Out Remover (W.O.R). It's about a half-inch long, mounts directly on the M21, and runs off of 3 watch batteries. Completely solves the washout problem for the M21.

As others have pointed out, that if you get an optic with a super dim tritium insert like I did (barely seen even in the darkest of conditions), you are going to be in an uphill battle for support. Amazon has a no return policy on the optic and after slogging through their chat feature, the person on the other side of the keyboard will merely send you to Meprolight's support page, which will take days to get a response from. Amazon's "Return policy: Eligible for Refund or Replacement" fails to say that it is the manufacturer who will have to do the replacement, which means paying shipping to warranty a brand new item. If you want this type of optic, try to find one locally so you can verify the tritium is still working. It's not worth the hassle of dealing with an online retailer who offers no help or Meprolight's customer service to try to get some assistance. While the fiber optic aspect works well, that's not at all useful if there's a need for the optic in the dark. For the price, there are far better options with better customer service should it be needed.

The sight itself felt like a quality piece, however I was unable to find the dot reticle. The closet thing I was able to see was a dim blurry mess in the middle. I showed this sight to my father, as well as two co workers and they each had similar results. The reason I am rating this 2 stars is because The Global Sportsman, the company I ordered from said it was not defective when I returned it for an exchange.

First-most, this is a Bindon-capable optic. You keep both eyes open. I have revered Trijicon ACOGs for many years for their Bindon-capable optics. Keeping both eyes open keeps your field of vision wide-open, especially useful in moving through small and changing environments. You'll never go back to a non-Bindon optic once you practice with it. The lense is HUGE. So many of the "red dots" of today are super small. The eye relief is simply amazing- 1/2" to 24". So you can put this pretty far down the rail if you need less obstruction in your non-aiming view. The glass is super-high quality, this is up there with Trijicon's optics. 1 MOA adjustments takes the guesswork out. Weight is above the same as a Trijicon ACOG. It's an all-alloy housing. Not quite the overall quality of Trijicon, but extremely close. For a short-medium-range non-magnified optic, this is a great alternative to a Trjicon SRS. I got this on-sale at the time for $280 and feel this is just as good as the SRS. Definitely look for an accessory sold separately that injects a little light into the solar collector so you can transition between light/dark areas without dimming your reticle. Totally worth it.

Awesome sight. Slight greenish hue, and very minor problems with washout, but over all fantastic considering it doesn't need batteries. 4.3 moa dot alone may not be as quick to acquire but I feel the bulls eye reticle covers to much of the target at longer ranges. Thanks to amazon supply and demand pricing i got mine for $401.25

Different size than my two other M21 and far more difficult to see the dot. This is orders of magnitude dimmer than my others. I suspect this is a knockoff.

Good reflex sight for my Tavor. The only negative is the reticle doesn't illuminate when aiming from a dark room to a lighter area unless the target focus is dark.

The sight "wiggles" on its mount but the apparently that is intentional and they all do. There is washout when in a dark area looking to bright but that is expected with any sight like this one. I installed the REM21 Illuminator and that solved the brightness issue for any situation. Decently crisp dot and the blue tint is not that bad.
