  • Definitely Retro!
This watch screams "Retro!" Definitely resembling a classic Casio watch from my youth, this LCD watch includes useable features (stopwatch, date, alarm, etc) in a nostalgic form. I think the only thing about this that deviated from the 80's design is the way the light feature inverts the LCS and uniformly glows blue - that was definitely a late 1990's/early 2000's feature, but it works far better than the older 80's blub-lit and gradiated night lights. The only two things I did not like about this watch are 1. The watch band. It comes in the box ready to latch and is an unfamiliar design with no explanation in the booklet. I *think* I figured it out, but if I didn't, this watch is going to fall off my arm at the arcade or carwash or something. 2. The size. Compared to the authentic 80s watches of this design, this watch is about 75-80% the original size. The best way to visualize this is to compare the large and bulky size of watches marketed to men vs the smaller, finer sizes of those marketed to women. This watch could pass as a women's watch. This isn't an expensive watch, it does work great, and the backlit LCD is an awesome upgrade to those offered in the 1980s. If you're better acquainted with watch bands than me and are cool with a slightly smaller watch than the vintage 80's Casios, this is a great gift or personal accessory! ... show more

  • Good Price.
It looks and feels good. I wish it came with a better manual, showing how to adjust the size of the band. It took me 15 minutes to figure it out by myself.

  • Casio replica but not worth it
This digital watch offers classic styling, a comfortable metal case, and easy-to-read display at a budget-friendly price. The band may be difficult to adjust and the watch runs smaller than expected. This was is a close replica of casio classic watch. I would recommend buying the original casio instead ... show more

  • Great little retro digital watch!
This is a very nice inexpensive retro digital watch that looks great, feels comfortable and very easy to set. This watch is ideal for folks with smaller wrists, or someone that prefers smaller, lighter watches. I haven't tested the watch underwater and usually don't recommend getting any watch wet regardless of what it claims. Overall, a great quality inexpensive watch ideal for any occasion. Well worth consideration 👌 ... show more

  • Casio look-alike with a metal (not plastic, but also not steel) case but has band issues
There is a small niche market for digital watches with metal watch cases - people who like the straight-forward, no-nonsense, retro digital design but don't care for plastic or resin cases. Sometimes it's a durability thing, sometimes it's a "plastic feels too light or cheap" thing, but the market has been there for a while. Lately some of the big names have taken the hint and offered some retro style digitals in steel, namely the Casio A1000, Timex T80 Steel, and the Armitron retro series. With the exception of the Armitron ones (I have two of them) they are far more expensive than their resin counterparts, and all of them have their own caveats. Armitrons are affordable but their night lights are less than useless and the acrylic faces scratch easily, Casios have mother of pearl and other blingy design choices that raise their cost and lose some of the retro aesthetic, and Timex are just overpriced for what you get in any of their watches. (Timex are still nice, though, if I catch the T80 Steel on sale I might get one myself) Not a lot of options unless you go off-brand, and THAT is probably why you are here. Here we have a Casio clone of sorts, face similar to an F-91W, feature set of the A168W (the addition of an an EL light and steel band), in a zinc alloy case. Before we get into it, I have to give a nod to the product page explicitly stating that "Water resist 30m" does not means you can put the watch 30 meters underwater. It can only handle 3 atmospheres of pressure before water will leak in. This is one of the most egregious marketing misnomers allowed to exist, and I'm glad they aren't making that crazy 30 meter submersible claim here. Every watch should state their water resist in ATMs or BARs to avoid this confusion, and while the watch itself is marked 30m they at least pointed out in the main description what it actually means, so kudos for that. Back to the watch. It arrived on and working, but not set to current time/day/date. That was easily fixed. It definitely has that retro look, it could pass for a Casio at first glance but the "SKMEI" branding keeps the watch honest. This unit has EL lighting that works quite well; pressing the button lights the display for about 2-3 seconds and the display itself is sharp and legible. The band, however is the real weak point on this watch. It looks like the Casio metal band but the fit and finish were poor in comparison to an original I had laying around the house. It was difficult to adjust the fit, to the point that I had just got it close enough to wear and called it good. This left it with a bit of rattle when wearing it. All of that wouldn't be too bad considering the price point here, but the clasp is just downright awful. Getting it to close was a pain and getting it to open was a much larger pain, and it was at that point I swapped the original Casio band onto it. (The watch's 18mm lug size are a perfect match) If you plan to buy one of these, I suggest ordering another band with it. This ruins the value proposition but if you were going to replace it anyway I guess that wouldn't matter. The only real question is: why not just get the Casio? The A168 is a few bucks more and I have no doubts about Casio reliability. Well, the A168 has a slightly different face than the F-91W this thing emulates so style may be a factor, but I'm pretty sure the big draw here is the metal case. Zinc alloy, but metal nonetheless. It's heavier than resin, but not as heavy as steel. It feels more substantial than a resin one, but not by a lot. But if you're looking for a metal digital with a decent back light (I love my Armitrons but that dim little bulb is an embarrassment) this is about the lowest entry price point there is, even when replacing the band. If the light isn't an issue, get an Armitron, If the metal case isn't that important, get a resin Casio. If you must have a STEEL case and a good light, just save up and get the Timex T80 Steel (not the resin one) or Casio A1000, your preference. If the metal case is that important to you, I can still recommend this watch. I actually like it myself, and being as good as it is for a $15 off-brand makes it all the better... kinda makes me feel like I've been popping tags at the thrift shop. ... show more

  • Small digital watch
This is a nice looking, well made digital watch. It is easy to read and in most lighting conditions the numerals are dark and identifiable. It's a very small watch as you can see from the picture comparing it to a watch that I would wear normally. I think the bigger watch is 47 mm and this watch is 33 mm--quite a difference! ... show more

  • Nice, smaller than expected
This is a good quality digital watch with a kind of retro styling that is reminiscent of digital watches I saw commonly in the late 80s and early 90s. I think it is a clone of a similar watch by Casio, but I'm not 100% sure. The functionality is good and it is handsome, but I have to mention it is smaller than I expected, both in size of the face and the band size. I have thin arms and usually have to remove links to get a metal band to fit, but this one fit snugly out of the box. Might require adjustment for average-thick wrist folks. Overall, not bad for the price. 4/5 ... show more
