The manufacturer recommends a time limit of no more than three hours.I would follow that if you leave it in longer I would suggest a number 12 gauge shorter extension cord that will absorb 20 amps .This is a purely resistive load and an 18 gauge cord is insufficient and the prong ends will get hot enough to burn you and possibly create a hazard such as a fire,please be careful.This is coming from a 40 year veteran in the electrical industry ... show more

I got a portable bathtub recently because I live in an RV. My hot water tank is only 6 gallons, so I bought this to see if it would heat up my bathtub. It really does--and pretty fast. It's 2000 watts. Submerge it and it will heat 20 gallons of water in less than an hour, and to hot tub temps. JUST A WARNING--MAKE SURE THERE'S WATER IN THE TUB AND DON'T WALK AWAY FROM IT FOR LONG. My husband put our first one in the tub and walked away as the water was filling up the tub. He forgot that the second small drain hadn't been properly closed, so all the water leaked out as quickly as it went in. I walked into the bathroom about an hour later just in time to see everything bursting into flames. This isn't a toy. Don't leave it unattended and don't stick your hand in the water while the device is plugged in, either. You will get a nasty shock. Use safely and it's amazing. ... show more

So I bought this to warm up a whole tub of water. It will do it eventually, but after 60 minutes I am still only up to 96.6 degrees from 94.5. Maybe if this was your only option it would be fine. Or if you are just looking to heat five gallons it might be quicker. Anyway, probably wouldn't recommend if you need it for a tub of water. ... show more

⚠️ WARNING!!! MINE CAUGHT FIRE WHEN I ACCIDENTALLY PLUGGED IT IN OUTSIDE OF THE WATER!!! ,however even the it still works. Lol that was my mistake and not an issue with the product, just writing this as a caution to others to be careful! This product works EXTREMELY well, and can heat up a small family inflatable pool into feeling like a jacuzzi tub within 45 minutes! We LOVE using it for that and it's genius at doing that!!! But don't touch the barrel unless you want burns so unplug ofcorse before you get in the water, and do NOT use in any ponds or aquariums unless you quickly want to make fish soup! ... show more

I bought this product as a complement of a foldable bathtub, does the job of warm the water but you must follow all the warnings of the product: 1. You should not place your hand into the water when the product is connected to the power supply. 2. If you need to use a power extension, you have to be sure to buy one that it's appropriate for this product, if you use a lower value the extension can take fire. 3. I bought this to use in my inflatable hot tub to preheat the water before getting in. It isn't quite enough to make a impact. I plugged it in a hour before getting in the tub, leaving the heating element next to the pump output. The tubs built in heater only goes to 104F, and after a hour, this heater wasn't able to raise the temperature more than just one degree ... show more
