10W speaker isn't much, but it's better than nothing. I was originally drawn to this speaker to use it during water play parties in the backyard. For comparison, I have an old 5W Jawbone-mini wireless speaker that I've been using. It is old, definitely not waterproof and it cost $99 at the time (many years ago). This is the one I'll be mostly comparing it against. In terms of sound quality, I'd rate Jawbone as slightly better. B+ (for Jawbone) vs. solid B for this Memorex. The bass is definitely there but it's not overpowering. Mids are OK. Where Jawbone was better are the highs. The highs on Memorex are more muted. Still, overall sound quality is very decent, especially considering the price and that this is a waterproof speaker (a claim which I didn't test). It terms of loudness, this speaker is very comparable to what 5W Jawbone outputs. I honestly expected a bit better from it, given that it is 10W, but it is not quiet in any sense. It's plenty loud for any room inside the house, but in a backyard settings, the loudest it'll get is "background music" level, which is good enough for my purpose but perhaps not loud enough if you're doing movies or truly loud parties. I haven't fully tested the battery life, but I did play it for over 2 hrs at about 70% volume and it was still going strong (there isn't a way to tell how much battery is left afaik).

This is NOT a bad little Bluetooth speaker for the price. It's well-encased for use near pools and hot tubs, showers, etc. It has a nice light on top so you can find it in the dark. But having had higher end speakers, I was a little underwhelmed by how this one plays music. Music sounded a bit muddy, not crisp and clear as I would have liked. A little too much bass for my taste as well. It wasn't unlistenable, mind you. Just not as good as my previous speaker. On the plus side, if you listen to podcasts, news, or other broadcasts, this speaker does a fantastic job. Voices come across crystal clear and crisp. (IS it live or is it Memorex?) Definitely worth status as a "take it to the beach" "leave it in the car" "Let my friend borrow it" kind of speaker.

What an impressive little speaker man. This thing is cherry! It comes at a great value, and sounds amazing. The fullness and roundness of the sound coming from this diminutive contraption is impressive. I've used other products in this price range, and WAS happy with them... but this little bugger sets a new bar. Memorex has a hit on its hands with this Xboom... I'm predicting it. There's a lot to love about the size & shape. It's easy to carry, and the control panel is well built. The item has a solid feel, which also denotes quality construction. It really shines brightest in the sound department however, and that's what I care about most. It's clear, poignant, and almost (dare I say) exciting. It has a surprising capacity to deliver bass too. The kind of balanced, full, warm, room filling sound that makes it a remarkable piece of kit. I'm not a fan of the light show, yet mercifully, it can be turned off. That's the only "gimmick" present on this product. Everything else is surprisingly great. I'm a HUGE fan of the Xboom and think you will be too. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Getcha one.

I got this mainly to hang on my patio umbrella for a little background music while BBQing for the family. The sound quality is decent; more bass than I expected and the mid's and treble are fairly crisp. The lights are nothing to rave about. It charged quickly and lasted more than several evenings on 1 charge. It is not loud compared to even a JBL clip, but that was not my intent with it. You can expect decent sound, easy and consistent Bluetooth pairing, but not a ton of volume and a very reasonable price.

I'm amazed at this speaker. I thought it would be ok and go in one of my shop rooms for people to use. After turning it on and connecting it, running through classical, metal, hip hop, and a podcast I was impressed. I had to check myself so I got out all the other Bluetooth speakers I had around (4 of them) and compared. I thought it would come out about like my 2nd favorite (and these are all fairly inexpensive speakers mind you, no $100 Bose here) Amazon Basics that I keep in my kitchen. It blew it away. The "best" sounding one I have is a Doss Soundbox one and it even sounded quite a bit better than that one. More clarity, range, volume, and substance. With all that said, this is staying in my dining room now. The shop can get one of the other ones. This is a keeper for sure.

My 9 year old loves this speaker. She connects it to her tablet and plays are her favorite songs. It even sounds better than her Alexa spot, which is amazing because those sound great. Connecting to bluetooth is very simple, and it connected easily on the first try. The sound is very clear, though there is not a lot of bass, but what can you expect for a small inexpensive speaker. Great for kids, waterproof so they can take it with them outside without too much worry. Ridiculous battery life though, like she played it pretty much all day and it never went dead.

This Memorex Xboom speaker is a great choice for anyone looking for a portable speaker for background music. The sound quality is decent, with surprisingly good bass for its size. The highs and mids are also clear. The speaker lights are a bit underwhelming, but that wasn't a dealbreaker for me. What really impressed me was the battery life. It charged quickly and lasted for multiple evenings on a single charge. It's not going to blow out a room with sound, but it's definitely louder than I expected for the size. It connected easily via Bluetooth and stayed connected consistently. Overall, it's a great value for the price!

My unit did not have the owner's manual or instruction so not sure how the light can be turned off. The only thing that the light does is turning on or off, along with the power on/off indicator light blinking as well. The sound quality, however, is among the best Bluetooth portable speakers I've tested and owned.
