  • Not going to be a perfect hvlp sprayer but surprisingly good for the price
I've owned this about a year now. I've sprayed quite a bit of urethanes, enamels & latex with it, mostly on small run cabinet doors, inserts & drawers. Yes, I have it 5 stars, in reality, I would give it 4.5, but, obviously I can't do that, so I chose to round up. I recommend against it for oil based materials, after all it's all plastic components and many of the solvents for those are very brutal on some of the sprayer's components. But using it with water based materials I'm quite pleased with results I can achieve. The spray pattern adjuster is fragile, being plastic, when it's collar is tightened down it's easy to over shoot the detente stops & damage it. Not a game finisher, the thing only has a 90 degree range, so pretty easy to contend with. You must clean it immediately after use, or it will develop crusties which will gum up the spray nozzle, likely sending chunks on to your item's finish leaving gobs. It is NOT compatible with powerstack batteries, fine with XR & original packs, I think I've used it with flexvolt without a problem, but the powerstacks make the motor ebb & surge, to the extreme where the gun will not spray. I would suggest using it either at least 4ah battery to use a full material jar in one spray session. The 1.5 barely gets me ⅓ of a jar, the 2ah is about half a jar. You can pull it apart, which is great for cleaning, I yank the spray head from the motor body to take it to the service sink for cleaning. Seems the kits updated, mine had no brush, viscosity tool, or other spray heads other than the 1.5. honestly, I doubt I would use a larger nozzle, the motor doesn't build up enough of a head to really atomize well on wide throw setting with just the 1.5, I use it necked down all the time, with the spray volume knob dialed almost all the way back. Set that way, I get a pretty comparable spray to what my high end Fuji will shoot. I wish they sold spare parts, I'd like the other spray head disks, but more importantly it would be great to have additional material jars & jar lids. So, if you want a sprayer that's cheap, easily portable, does a fairly decent job & pretty easy to clean to run on your existing DeWalt batteries, I believe you'll be happy with this sprayer. ... show more

  • Works great
I use this product to spray Thompson's water sealer on my deck, and 5 foot high wood privacy fence, it worked great, I ran a whole gallon of Thompson through it, and it only used about 30% of my Dewalt five amp hour battery, the mist that came out was pretty nice and easy to control and clean up was easy too, I really don't have anything bad to say about this nice little sprayer ... show more

  • Never worked with regular paint and batteries barely fit
Batteries are so tight I couldn’t get them back out. Never did get a fine mist, throws clots of paint. Comes with a viscosity cup for thinning, but no mention of how to use it in the instructions. Bad generic product that comes up when searching for DEWALT.

  • Perfect for spraying weed killer
Just saw a corded HVLP sprayer with price tag $89 in Harbor Freight Tools, so decided to give this one a try. Ordered on May 2nd and delivered on May 5th, better than expected on shipping. Used it to spray RoundUp, performance is great, much better than Ryobi One+ 1 Gallon sprayer. Noticed whenever starting a spray, it starts with a beam then spread out after about one second, it is obviously an issue for painting an object. Workaround is to aim other place to start and then turn back to the object. So can not be five stars due to this bug. ... show more

  • Wow.
You probably don’t want to paint your car with this, but it did a fantastic job staining my front porch and painting a utility trailer. I’m glad I bought this.

  • It's OK... see the full review
I wouldn’t recommend this sprayer for inside use but outside it’s ‘OK’. I had to work with it a bit to get a consistent spray pattern. I diluted my exterior grade BM latex paint 2 to 1 (paint to water) and used the red spray tip… I got pretty good results. Several things to be aware of though: With a sprayer full of paint and a 5 Ah battery the combo gets heavy fast. You’ll be holding the sprayer with two hands in a couple of minutes unless you’ve been weight lifting consistently. I used it to paint a wood fence and it did a good job covering the wood. One issue I had though was that it would splatter paint (maybe a teaspoon) when you started spraying. Once you got going, no problem. It’s just the beginning of each spray cycle, another splatter. I used four 5Ah batteries which were good for about 1 gallon of paint. When you are diluting the paint I recommend straining the paint. Just a few tiny lumps in the paint will really slow you down. Overall I give it 3 stars. The manual is terrible. The spray tips are marked but you really have to look closely to see the numbers. It is pretty easy to clean but I was using latex paint so I was cleaning with soap and water. This sprayer is definitely not appropriate for furniture grade projects but for fences, lawn furniture, a backyard shed, etc. it should be fine. ... show more

  • Perfect Tire Shine Application
The media could not be loaded. I purchased this sprayer to use in a unique way: applying tire and chassis dressings. As a detailer, I often struggle with efficiently applying tire and chassis dressings, especially on lifted/off-road vehicles with specific off-road tires. Many detailers use an air brush with an air compressor, but that’s very cumbersome for a mobile detailer to use. I decided to give this a shot since I already own a plethora of DeWalt tools and batteries. I kept the affordability in mind over competition such as the Graco unit, which costs several hundred dollars more. So far, this sprayer has been EXCELLENT. A dilution ratio of 2:1 (Shine Supply’s Decked Out product) flows perfectly with no stoppage or sputtering. The finish is a perfect satin (picture 3) that’s exactly what I’m going for. Since it’s misted on and is diluted, it dries uniform and does not sling. Where it used to take 10-15 minutes to properly dress my tires and wheel wells, it now takes less than 5. That time really adds up in long-term productivity. Overall, I’m incredibly pleased with this unit. I will update this review after a few more uses. ... show more
