I love this kitchen more and more every day. When it first arrived, I took everything out of the box and it definitely was a little intimidating. (Be careful taking everything out of box!) I highly recommend setting plenty of time aside and packing some patience. It took me all of 2 hours. The instructions were so easy to follow and actually made it fun. If you have toddler(s) like me, make sure they are napping or occupied with something else while you’re trying to put this together. 😅 I was a little concerned at first because some of the individual pieces seemed easily breakable and I was worried about overall durability. Once everything was put together though it solidified really well. My 18 month old absolutely loves it and plays with it every day. I got the idea to add some motion lights from another review I read on here. They really are the perfect finishing touch and seem to make it even more fun for him! I only put them above counter, in the fridge, and in the oven. They are pretty bright and I didn’t want him being blinded by them them looking up into the microwave because he isn’t that tall yet. I bought the Melissa and Doug kitchen accessories kit which includes the adorable salt & pepper shaker, timer, and a few other things you see in the picture. The food I purchased from learning resources, and the motion lights are vyanlight motion sensors LED lights 3-pack you can find on Amazon as well. Hope this review is helpful! Enjoy! ... show more

This adorable little kitchen is made from wood, which I love so much more than plastic. I love the modern look and that even when it’s the focal point of the living room, blocking the fireplace, it doesn’t look out of place or ruin a more adult looking aesthetic. I love that the picture of the fridge can be changed to my sons own artwork! Assembly was mostly amazing... I’ve never seen a toy that requires such extensive assembly come so beautifully organized. The wooden parts were all labeled, small plastic parts were in clear bags and labeled, and the screws etc were organized by size and part number in a cardboard holder. I was seriously blown away by how organized everything was when I opened the box. The instructions were really easy to follow and assembly was mostly easy... I did it all by myself, no husband required, in about three hours. The instructions specifically say DO NOT USE A POWER DRILL but I will say a sturdy screwdriver is a must. The cheap one I have for changing batteries in toys was not sufficient and I had to get a legit screwdriver to finish this thing. Honestly, I would recommend a power drill as long as you are careful/gentle and don’t drill the screws in too hard- that would split the wood and ruin it. The quality for the price is fantastic and all the little details were thought of. I like the little towel holder, the turn table in the microwave spins, the dials on the oven turn, as does the faucet and its handle. My son’s favorite part (and mine to) is the ice cube dispenser, which dispenses two adorable play ice cubes. He carries them around, so I wish there was a way to get extra cubes. My son loves his little kitchen and is very creative with it. Not only does he cook me delicious meals that are always light on calories, he has also repurposed the microwave and freezer as little stuffed cat beds. Really the possibilities are endless with this, but Melissa and Doug also includes a list of ideas to play with the kitchen in different ways. Let’s face it, this purchase was mostly for me but the kiddo loves it too, and so does our cat. I can’t wait to add on all the matching accessories! ... show more

l purchased this beautiful pretend kitchen for a 1 year old whom is not walking or even standing on her own. It’s perfect. She plays for hours imitating her parents whom love to cook. The one year old prefers her new pretend kitchen rather than the real kitchen. She loves the toy ice cubes that she can put in the refrigerator to dispense in her tea cup and pretend to sip. There are so many great kitchens to chose from, I begged the mom to pick one and she chose the Melissa and Doug brand because of their reputation and it fit in with her house decor. It’s been almost a year I’m ready to tell my story. We purchased this November 2022 as a Christmas gift for our then one year-old granddaughter. After scrolling and looking at a few other kitchen sets I came upon this cute pink kitchen set that was on sale for $98 with a coupon for 25 additional dollars off. At the time I had no idea who Melissa and Doug were or what they sold I just saw a cute kitchen set at what I considered a steel compared to other wooden sets I was looking at and again it was pink! My sons & I put it together on Christmas. It took a couple hours, we followed the no drill rule, we wanted to make sure we put it together right not rushed that’s why we didn’t ask my husband for help lol. Right away she fell in love with it. She comes over maybe four times a week most weeks and she goes right to her little area that we made for her & get to cooking(making a mess) She does not allow anyone to cook in her kitchen. Which is fine because I enjoy watching her use her imagination, making sound effects as she plays and how much she’s grown over the last 10months from not being able to reach the shelf over the sink or microwave to standing on her tippy toes and cooking everything in the microwave, including Minnie Mouse(don’t judge her). It’s a good size, definitely a set kids can grow into and keep for many years with proper care. I did go to dollar tree and buy a shelf for the refrigerator, after seeing a few other reviews I’m definitely adding lights. The set has plenty of storage space for food, dishes, and whatever. I recommend this kitchen to everyone definitely worth the money and if you can catch it on sale, grab it immediately. ... show more
