First off, I should note that I have many other figures from mega construx with this gimmick. I love them! I have an entire series 1 set and half a series 2 set of breakout beasts. The slime for those sets was not very runny and actually was really easy to peel off. I even have a procedure I go through to ensure I don't have to wash any of the pieces in water. But I dont know what they did different, but this slime was a lot more runny. Like snot runny. My technique for removing the slime did not work. But honestly, as long as you play around in a paper plate or bowl, you should be fine. Yes, you do have to wash your hands and heaven forbid it gets in any cracks or crevices in furniture, but overall, if you watch your kid play you should be fine. The figure overall is simply gorgeous. I got Rubywing, the golden dragon one. The soft rubbery plastic and light sparkling sheen made her really stand out with my other beasts. Speaking of standing, she easily rests on her hooves on the table, something I was very surprised about. I will say that any of the parts you have for breakout beasts will work on these and vice versa. So the armor and body parts can be switched around to make some pretty cool creatures. The only issue I had was with the stand pieces. Normally, all my other stands were fine from this line but for some reason the hole on my base piece is blocked by more green plastic, as if the stamping machine malfunctioned on this one. So unfortunately I cannot rest her on her included stand piece. This upsets me only because I know that if a kid got this they would be dissappointed. But luckily I do have a bunch of stands from the breakout beasts line so I can still pose her! Overall, this is a cool toy for both and girls alike and I honestly would love to review a whole set if given the chance. Quality control might need to watch the machines though. 3.5 out of 5 ... show more

    • Superb Creatures, But Please No Slime Work
Style: Breakout Beast Wave 3
Series 3 is great, and the creature designs, etc. are pretty top notch and nostalgic for adults who find this to appease the love for the 2000s line of dragon eggs. Of course, with time, the designs and part capability of these beasts put the old line from a decade ago to shame, which is fun considering the possibilities as well as just seeing how toymaker technology has enabled so much change in a relatively short time. The biggest con is the slime, especially with series 3, which may just be a factor of one individual set or heat or something, but the slime is harder to peel off parts and then sticks to you trying to get it off the parts. I was never a fan of the slime gimmick (I guess kids love it, but it depends on whether or not the kid likes having slimy, sticky hands), but it is a put-off to getting more when you have to use a roll of paper towels or so just to get the slime off of your hands every time you have to fish out a part. I really wish they would at least package the parts in a baggie in the slime instead of having to spend a good amount of time picking every part out and cleaning up when the slime no longer just comes off, it has to stick and string even to fingertips. ... show more

I own all the wave 1 beasts and half the wave 2 beasts. (all purchased at Target or Gamestop). I couldn't find any wave 3 beasts locally, so I chose to buy some off Amazon. This product line is cool, but a few caveats if you choose to buy online: 1.) You are virtually guaranteed to get duplicates if you order online, so if you want to avoid that, I suggest only buying a few that way. To the uninitiated, the last two numbers of the code engraved on the bottom of the egg indicates which beast is inside, so for example, you see two codes ending in "76T" that means those eggs contain the same monster. I ordered my first three beasts here, and I already ended up with a pair of duplicates in that order. 2.) DO NOT OPEN THE BAG YET IF THE INSIDE IS FOGGED UP! The slime will be extra clingy and very difficult to remove! Normally it slides off easily as long as you keep it together. I think this problem arises when the items are left in the sun's heat for too long. I recommend leaving the bags in a cooler environment before opening ... show more

This was a second purchase of these because I love them more than my kids do. I got them for my kids for christmas and when they first took them out of the package that day I immediatly had anxiety. The parts are IN the slime and you have to get them out. I had almost called the carpet cleaning company ahead of time. The slime is sticky at first but it comes right off. Its not hard to get off skin, clothes or carpet! My son spilled the entire thing on the carpet and it had been sitting a few hours before i noticed it. Wet rag got it right up. It washes right off everything else too but doesnt really make a mess. The toys are beautiful and easily put together. They are not 2010 quality either they are nice 1990's quality plastic and theres is a lot of product for the price. The slime lasts a good long time too. I would recommend for 5 and over. My then 4 year old played good with it but ya know... Carpet issue. ... show more
