Unlike many PSUs in the 1000+ watt range, this one maintains the small form factor of lower-powered PSUs, and it does so without getting overheated. Granted, I'm running an i7-13700k with my trust old GTX 1080ti, but still. One of the other major selling points of this PSU is that it has a dedicated 12V rail for your GPU. I have no issue running my old 1080ti on it and now I'm future-proofed for an eventual upgrade to an RTX 4090. Full modularity is always great, of course, and this PSU comes with plenty of cables for every type of connection you might need (except IDE, but you're spending way too much on a PSU if you're using this for a retro PC, lol). Also, I know some reviews of this PSU say that can get a little noisy under heavy loads, but I've yet to experience that. However, that could also be because I'm already running a huge air-cooling setup and can't hear the PSU's fan. Having a whisper-quiet PC has never been a concern for me, anyway. I will say, it would be nice if MSI had used a 140mm fan rather than a 120mm, as the chassis of this PSU certainly could accommodate it. A minor design criticism, ultimately. My only other criticism is that with a bottom-mounted, fan-down installation, there's a big information sticker that's highly visible on the face-up side. This doesn't affect anything, it just looks ugly. I don't know where else you'd put such a sticker, though, given that there's minimal real estate for one, but you'd think that as a gaming-oriented PC hardware manufacturer, MSI would've considered that many gamers care almost as much about aesthetics in their builds as they do performance. As far as PSU's go, it's a nice-looking box, other than that damn sticker. I certainly wouldn't pass on this PSU for that, though. This thing is a beast and a great choice, despite being on the pricey end, that will future-proof your system. Also, that sticker could relatively easily be removed if you so chose to do so. Overall, 5/5, highly recommended.

Firstly this is a 1300W PSU, I took a risk hoping it wasn't the 1000w that was stated in the title. Sure enough I was right! This is the 1300w with the 600w cable that connects to the new 40 series graphic cards from Invida. Makes the build so much cleaner and easier. The cables are really nice and high end. and there is plenty to fulfill what ever build you are considering. The fan is quiet with no issues. The PSU has survived two power outages in my area. I believe those type of incidents at times will destroy or burn your hardware, the PSU is a like a shield if you will. It's still running like a champ! The PSU does come with a bag to store your extra cables and the PSU itself has magnetic badges the gold plates and black ones with the dragon are both removable , if you want an all black PSU you could make that happen. The price is worth it for this PSU. It has a app that allows you to view power withdraw and some other handy stuff in the MSI center. Overall it's a solid made PSU. Most important part of a PC. The back end of the PSU looks elegant and easily managed for flawless installation.

I rarely ever do reviews unless I had a terrible experience. This is one of those. Considering the PRICE $400!) and all the marketing on this and labels "100% Japanese caps, 3.1 5.1, platinum, the MSI brand", etc, I had very high hopes. It seemed like a very high quality psu. I was wrong. This was my last piece for my brand new build. I finally finished and was setting up all my drivers, havent even put the system at full load yet. Only TWO hours into my new build, while simply browsing the web, my brand new pc shut off and wouldnt turn on again. Motherboard lights were on. Everything else was off. I opened it up to check connections and tripled checked, everything was fine. While looking around, I touched the psu and it was HOT! Abnormally hot for what I was doing and not even being at full load. Before that all my temps on my other components were perfect. Why would my psu be so hot? I gave it a day (maybe it overheated) and still wouldnt turn on. My last resort was to swap it out for my old EVGA 1000w, and low and behold, everything turned on and worked perfectly. I did research and turns out this psu is very well known for shutting off randomly on people and completely dying out of the blue. The fan also doesn't turn on until about 70c degrees unless you download the software and adjust it. Completely unacceptable for this price point. Never buying an msi psu again. Since then ive purchased a white lian li 1200w edge and it's way cheaper and an amazing psu with way better features. If you research this pau you'll find many people, also on reddit, with this same problem happening in the same way. Even on here if you check the 1 star reviews everyone describes the same problem. I shouldve listened.

I have been a tech 20+ Years and always used the same 2 brands before, So I was a bit nervous trying a new brand of PSU. I loved MSI from working with them in business for 11 years so I figured I'll give it a go! My MSI Products in my System: ( My Case is a Lian Li Evo XL. PSU is Mounted with the fan facing out for ventilation ) MSI MEG Ai1300P PSU MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX MSI MLG RTX 4070 SUPER Video Card MSI MPG CoreLiquid K360 V2 on a i7-14700K FIRST: MAKE SURE YOU GET THE Serial # and "CHK" Code off of the PSU itself before you install. You need both those codes to register it with MSI and also the full recognition and integration into the MSI Center Software. Which is a BIG shiny plus in my book to monitor and manage the PSU. * THIS PSU DOES NOT HAVE PROPRIETARY CONNECTIONS TO THE PSU Yay!! BEWARE OF THOSE THAT DO! I purchased a BeQuiet! because I love their products too, just to find out all the cables were proprietary on the PSU connection end and sent it back. This PSU was about $140 more than the BeQuite 1200W I originally bought. 1. Installation: PSU is a GREAT size. I actually ordered this to replace another because the other had really stiff cables and was eating a lot of room. 2. Cables: Very soft and flexible. Super nice tight fit, you KNOW if it's in correctly. The ONLY negative is the clip braids. You do put them on yourself. Some go on like butter clipping the cables in. I gave up after I ran into 4 hard clips in a row, my hands were raw lol. I just fitted the cables how I wanted them and left the clips I put on in place. * If you are planning on using the New connector to your Video card, make sure there is space in your case. To get it to fit with no tension you need about 2-3 inches of clearance to bend the cable just right. I don't use adapters. This comes with several adapters as well from normal PCI-E to the New one. 3. Software Interaction: Plug the USB interface cable in last that connects to the motherboard. Makes things easier. The only thing I'm unsure of is why the software is registering it as a MEG Ai1000P instead of the Ai1300P. I will post a screenshot of how easy the software is and what it shows you. The screenshot is from IDLE. While doing a FULL LOAD test the PSU efficiency was at 90-93%, perfect. The Real-time dashboard is great as well. 4. This PSU performs great, runs cool. My only tip on the software: The PSU fan will be in 0RPM mode even up to some super high temps, really doesn't matter tooooooo much. BUT I just set it to a neutral 1200RPM and the PSU went down 30C, Crazy. In my Case where it is mounted right behind my proc and motherboard, that made a good difference on my CPU/Mobo temps as well as I observed in just idle/basic and gaming. This I really think is a great thing for consumers who want to futureproof themselves in this weird market we have right now. *Final Thought* Is the PSU Overkill? Depends on your outlook. Buy what you want. If you're torn on the Ai1000P or the Ai1300P (this). There are differences, just look into the manual on MSI's site. I do NOT regret purchasing this at all. Expensive, yes it is. Worth it, yes it is!

As a user of the MSI MEG Ai1300P PCIE5, I’ve found it to be a reliable and high-performing power supply unit (PSU). This is going to be a great upgrade for my PC. I have always used 650W or lower PSUs for my builds by happenstance of prebuilt cases or not needing the higher power output. Finally my components will be able to shine. And with the modularity, everything in my computer is about to look much cleaner.

So far so good and it has not given me any problems so i greatly enjoying actually having the ability to check and monitor how much total system power all components draw and i can tell you that i wasted money getting a psu this big since every psu calculator i used said i needed way more than i actually needed as im only drawing a little over 500 watts so this psu never get utilized hard enough to turn the fan on other than very rarely. So far it's doing its job very well and i don't regret it now but i will have to take off one star for misleading packaging as other reviewers have stated since i did in fact get a older box labeled atx 3.0/5.0 instead of 3.1/5.1 so there is a good chance you will get a old unit as calling msi could not even confirm if mine was a newer revision on not so i have zero clue but oh well as i don't have the time or patience to send it back in hope of getting the correct packaging. Still good at least so i will survive.

This is a high quality product from MSI. The main drawback reviews and other owners seem to mention is the fan noise, but from my experience this isn't an issue under real world operating conditions. My system with a Ryzen 7600X and a 4090 draws ~670 watts while running GPU + CPU torture tests and the fan did not turn on until the unit reached almost 70C, and at that under 900RPM which wasn't really audible over my other components running at full tilt. This is an extremely unrealistic operating condition as well, while gaming you'll rarely exceed 500 watts and the fan will literally never turn on. In short, it's a none issue. My biggest problem with the unit was the cables, especially 12VHPWR connector, which doesn't really seem to "click" into my 4090. It's fully seated all the way, but its only held in by tension and could be pulled out just by the cable bending. It's also not individually wrapped like the other cables which seems like an oversight. The monitoring software is actually decent, and at least if its your only MSI product, doesn't seem very intrusive. It shows you your PSU stats and lets you control the fan and rails, not much else. Would recommend installing for owners of this PSU as it is nice to know the total power usage of my PC.
