I had an old merc fuel pump with a rusty spring and crumbling filter (the old pumice style). Bolted up, came with extra gaskets, reused old fittings and put into service. Boat started up and fan good, no leaks, no problems. This replacement has a pleated paper fuel filter.

Installed this fuel pump on my 2002 Fourwinds Freedom 170 with a 3.0 mercruiser 4 cylinders it fit perfect and to all the customers asking about the Fuel filter !! Yes filter it’s already installed, I opened mine to verify , works great

Got it in, and swapped the hose barb and compression fitting to the new one. I put a little bit of gas into the pump to prime it. Placed one of the 4 gaskets before and after the spacer, bolted it on. re-attached fuel lines and fired up the boat and it worked great. Engine had a slight noticeably higher RPM. Wondering if my old pump was putting out a bit less PSI than it was supposed to! Never checked the PSI because it did run fine. So far, this one is performing well. ... show more

Because it's been incredibly difficult to get mechanics to work on boats (very busy), I put this new product in myself. This was an easy install. Went out for a test on the river... after 40 minutes, same problem as before the install. Thinking that the stalling problem may be caused by something else in the fuel supply system, I ended up spending another $550 in parts including a rebuild of my carburetor, new fuel lines and total tune up... but still had the same problem. When I googled this product I found that many folks had issues with new fuel pumps not working so I took one last ditch effort at this and purchased another one of these for $20 more hoping that a more expensive had a better chance of working... Lo and behold, it did! So this product was faulty from the start. Problem is that it took me 6 more weeks of replacing everything else so i missed my 30 window to return this. Kindda sucks how much this part actually ended up costing me! ... show more
