  • Good foundation
Size: Queen Style: 4.5-Inch Color: White
Nice item in a box. Needed a new box spring foundation but didn’t want to carry it home on the car. Delivery? Cost almost as much as the item. This is in a box, right at your door, easy to assemble. Win - Win, it’s a box, it works.

  • Excellent Fit Queen
Size: Queen Style: 4.5-Inch Color: White
I am 70 years old, unboxed it then laid it out on the floor and put it together all by myself! Put the cover on, drug it to the bedroom and put it on the bed. Perfect for my memory foam deep mattress!

  • Easy to Assemble and seems very sturdy
Size: Full XL Style: 8-Inch Color: Black
This box spring was easy to assemble and seems quite durable. I laid the 5 frame components on a flat surface for assembly and installed all the carriage bolts loosely at first. Then I quickly checked each inside corner with a small carpenters square to make sure I had the box spring assembled squarely before tightening all the bolts. If you don't have a square, you could use a hard sided box or other household item that you believe is fairly square (90 degrees on at least one corner). I also made sure each long side component was lined up nicely with each end component. If you bolt the side component down somewhat crooked (askew, tilted, etc.), it may make putting the cover on more difficult. I just lined them up by eye when performing my final tightening and all was well. The box spring came with a small stamped steel wrench for tightening the carriage bolts, but I think using a standard box wrench or ratchet and socket makes this much easier to tighten down. If you don't have those tools you could certainly use the wrench they send in the hardware kit. Once the five frame components were tightened down snugly, I laid out all of the spring boards into the slots provided on the side frame rails. Then I screwed them down to the frame with the provided wood screws and my cordless drill. You could use a #2 phillips head screwdriver, it would just take a bit more time, and you'll get a good arm workout. Last, I installed the provided cover. I noticed some folks said it was hard to get installed in the comments. I had no issues at all, similar to installing a fitted sheet over a mattress. I think making sure the components are mostly square and installed lined up, will make this part easier. There was a draw string type device that I could pull tight around the "skirt" of the cover once it was installed. This ensures that the cover can't easily slide up over time. We installed this under my daughters Full XL memory foam style mattress and it was quite sturdy and did not creek or make any noise when in place. ... show more

  • Utilitarian but very unrefined
Size: Queen Style: 4.5-Inch Color: White
I recently bought a bed that requires a box spring, which you can’t use under a foam mattress. I researched foundations for foam mattresses for hours before settling on the Mayton. The metal ones had slats spaced too far apart while wood ones like this were built with the recommended 3” spacing. I didn’t want to pay twice as much for the mattress company’s foundation, and reviews of this product were solid. One review even helped me decide on the right size. I was disappointed and frustrated, however, by how rough and unfinished the wood was. It was cracked and split in numerous places. One of the main sides was bowed, though the muscle I hired to help me put it together was able to straighten the soft wood during full assembly. We called to complain. At first, the agent directed me to return it for a replacement. LOLOLOLOL. I’m not going to re-box a half-built queen-size wood frame into torn up packaging and haul the 75 lb ensemble to the UPS Store. He then offered replacement parts, but I didn’t want to live with a half-finished foundation laying on my apartment floor for however long that would take. We ended up settling on a credit to make up for the quality issues and I kept it as is, since despite its flaws it was still functional. It also didn’t come with the white cover as pictured. It was cream with black side panels, covered only the top and sides of the foundation, and closed with a drawstring. So if you get a size that sticks above the bed frame, you’ll probably want to add another fitted sheet to hide the black. Lastly, given the unfinished wood and exposed underside, my bedroom has smelled like plywood for weeks. It’s not necessarily unpleasant but not exactly in keeping with an otherwise elegant aesthetic. Maybe I should have bought the mattress company’s foundation after all, but for now this will have to do. ... show more

  • Mattress is more level
Size: Full Style: 4.5-Inch Color: White
Expected better quality of wood for the price. Some areas were split and some were jagged which was extremely disappointing. The actual size when constructed was smaller than advertised, it is smaller than the dimensions of my full sized mattress. So far it seems solid, I really didn't have any issues putting the cover on like some reviews mentioned. My mattress seems more level and consistent with this than the bunkie board I was using. It's really heavy but I managed to construct and drag it onto my bed myself. Just think quality of wood should have been better. Quality control missed the boat on this one. ... show more

  • Great With A Couple of Tweaks
Size: Full Style: 8-Inch Color: White
We’ve had this since roughly May 28, 2022. We haven’t had any issues with it. Per another reviewers’ suggestions. We used Gorilla Wood Glue, liberally & thoroughly, to assemble it. Let it cure for the time stated on the bottle before putting any weight on it. We also sat the box springs on the wood slats we originally had. For the price of this & the glue, it’s good & we’re satisfied. We have a crappy, old, spring mattress (to be replaced) that does just fine on it. I think for a memory foam or similar. A sheet of plywood would be helpful. I realize that things are starting to add up here. However. For those of us on a tight budget & bad credit. It’s a great way to slowly (& financially manageable) put together a bed system that works for us. Overall. With a little glue & some creative thinking. This box spring is excellent value for the price. Highly recommend! ... show more
