I prefer the heavy duty wood to the plastic kind. It has to be tightened from the bottom, so it was a little hard getting it tightened properly. Once it was tightened per instructions, it was nice and stable. It has a quick release option once installed. Although idk why you would have to remove it for cleaning. My last one got hard to clean the underside. I think it was because I used cleaners with bleach and took off the finish. This one says use mild cleaners only. I'm hoping this preserves the finish. Overall, the soft close works fine, the seat is comfortable and the finish is nice. (first one I got was chipped, they provided a postage free return label and processed another shipment the same day. The replacement was perfect!) ... show more

This is an easy close type design and when I took it out of the package, it didn't look right and looked just like a typical seat. We couldn't figure out the "easy close" as it looked different then the one we had. Was going to send it back and even took out a return through amazon but the one we had broke even more and so we went ahead and installed this one even though we didn't think it was the right one and guess what!?!?! It was and it works perfectly and is an easy close and a really good seat. Glad I didn't send it back. Of course.. I should have trusted that we got the right one in the beginning. ... show more

Installation was quick & easy, and only took 5-10 minutes. It looks nice, feels heavy and sturdy, and is comfortable. It feels like good quality product; and both the lid and seat are of the slow-close variety (didn't seem to be slow-close, but that feature requires installation first. I like that the bolts are designed to break off at correct torque, not loose and not overtightened. Seat is secure and has no wiggle, and it supposedly never needs to be tightened. Huge improvement from the plastic seat that came with the toilet. This is much more sturdy and comfortable (as a plus size woman, this can be an issue). Easy enough to clean, was simple to install. Slow close lid is nice feature.

My toilet seat broke and I live alone with my son. I was so worried about replacing it. I was so pleased how easy it was to install this toilet seat. It was actually easier to install the new one than remove the old one. I love that I can remove the seat by twisting it. What a wonderful purchase!!

They are easy to install, roughly 15 minutes or less if you use a 16 mm socket and socket wrench, including cleaning and removal of the old seat. The seats can also be removed for cleaning and easily re-attached in the same position. I used the following tools. You could probably get the bare minimum cheaper (~$20 range), but I invested in a nice socket set and ratchet for work around the house on Black Friday with the idea they would pay for themselves with some car work: Husky 1/2 in. Drive Deep Metric Impact Socket Set (11-Piece) (only need a 16 mm socket, but I got it from this $37.60 set) Husky 1/2 in. Drive 144-Tooth Pro Ratchet ($44.05) Of course you could just use a wrench if you wanted. Be sure to check that the color matches your toilet. ... show more

Remove the seat and get s deep clean, this makes this with the price. It's a comfortable seat, Johnny bolts are adjustable for toilet size issues, and soft close. So worth it for all these reasons... Best crap I've had at home with this small improvement.
