Never thought I’d be reviewing toilet seats, but here I am! Well my daughter uses the toilet seat to climb up and stand on top of to reach thing sun the upper cabinet in our bathroom. Well she could easily do this when she was younger and very lightweight. She now weighs 160 lbs and cracked our old toilet seat in half. I couldn’t find an elongated toilet seat to fit our toilet locally so I looked here on Amazon. I initially was afraid of the thought of wood for sanitary reasons, being that wood is porous. Well I took a chance anyway because it was a good price and could get here quick because a hurricane was coming and we needed both bathrooms functioning as we had family evacuating to our home as well, one bathroom was not going to work! My dad helped me change out the broken toilet seat to this one and it works great. I like that it is a no slip/wiggle style, so it won’t require frequent tightening like our old one. It does not feel any different than the plastic one, and it cleans just as easily. It seems to have a pretty hard shellac on it. I would buy again, in fact, I did, for our second bathroom.

These were perfect! We had two old toilet seats that for one would get their weird green build up on the brass hinges, but slam down when he’s toilet seats were super easy to call instructions for easy to follow and most of all they are quiet going down. The other bonus is that as with some plastic toilet seats he’s at the exact opposite and they are totally solid, so if you need to stand on one to reach the top shelf in the bathroom, or sit down on one, you have no concern of the plastic dipping in.

I have gone through a few of these over the past few years. I don't know why they don't add extra pads under the seat about halfway . I bought my own and put them under the seat between the front pads and the hinge and works great. I am 240 pounds and without doing this, it will eventually break

Love these Mayfair toilet seats! Easy to install! Love how the lids will close on their own. I even had one of the nuts break on me as I tightened up and I call the company and they are sending me a replacement part. I highly recommend the Mayfair 1843SLOW toilet seats. Oh and great price too!

This is the best toilet seat ever. It is not made of the plastic that will come with any new toilet which sticks to your backside and it's most uncomfortable. This is made of wood and is very heavy compared to the plastic. The slow close works great. The only issue I have with the toilet seat is when you're attaching the plastic bolts through your toilet you have to "break" the plastic bolt off, which is not a deal breaker but a design flaw in my opinion. I anticipate this toilet seat to last for quite some time. Definitely buy this seat!

We've had numerous toilet seats including plastic and wood. The plastic ones just didn't work well as they would not stay secure when you sat on them. The first wooden seat we got (not this brand) when you shut the top lid down it did not go down slow and would bang on the seat until the seat cracked with a slit that would pinch when you sat on it. This one is great. The lid goes down slowly as to not bang the seat!

Hey, its a toilet seat. But it is a nice one, wood and no banging and all that. I added a very small clear rubber pad to the toilet tank so when the seat put up it is silent and vibration free. This does take extra care in cleaning, because it is wood, not plastic. But for the overall feel of something you use this much, its worth it. We had one of the hinges on this break after 18 months of use. The product was out of the 1 year warranty, but Bemis Manufacturing, (the owner of Mayfair brand apparently) replaced it for free anyway. Would be better if the product hadn't broken, but defects happen and it was no hassle to have the issue resolved. Review went from 1->5 stars.
