So for those of you who do not watch the TV show Project Runway, there's a part of every show where the models are getting their makeup done, and there are shameless product promotions of everything from hair care to cosmetics. I usually roll my eyes at the blatant name dropping, ignoring most of what is said and believing even less. Until now. On one show the makeup artist was using this brand of mascara, and made the comment that it made the model's lashes look like she was wearing false eyelashes. They showed a close-up of the model, and it did make her lashes look longer. So, always on the lookout for good mascara, I tried this ..and I LOVE it!! I'm an older gal and my lashes have seemed to have gotten less and thinner over the years, but let me tell you -- this mascara actually makes it looks like I'm wearing false eyelashes!! My thin nearly invisible lashes were instantly longer, thicker, fuller and way more noticeable. I could not believe the difference. (And no, I am not a paid rep of the product or company!) This mascara is simply awesome! They should just re-brand it as "Magic Mascara for Almost Invisible Lashes!" Thanks, Project Runway, for your product promotion, because without it, I'd still be searching for the perfect mascara. : ) ... show more

    • Nothing "colossal" about this supposedly "Big Shot"
I normally use L’OrĂ©al Voluminous Million Lashes, but I wanted to try something different. This mascara just isn’t cutting it, so I’ll be going back to L’OrĂ©al. I naturally have long lashes, and this “Big Shot” mascara doesn’t add any volume or length. The only thing it does is make my lashes slightly darker—but it’s not even blackest black. It’s only a few shades darker than brown and definitely not true black. The product also seemed dried out and made my eyes itchy and red. I’m actually very surprised at how much I love this. I have short, sparse, and blonde eyelashes. I have tried practically every mascara under the sun and few have made a difference. This lengthened and volumized my lashes noticeably- without looking clumpy or flaking off. In comparison, I bought NARS climax mascara last weekend and the Maybelline volum’ Express blew it out of the water. This is better than too faced and Clinique, pretty close to urban decay perversion, and 100% better than NARS. Try it, you can’t beat the price. ... show more

Honestly I’m more and more inclined to believe that most mascaras are created equal and that my eyelashes are the culprit for frustrations with the way different formulas go on. Having said that, this one is pretty good. I am perfectionistic about the way my lashes look, both in volume and separation. The look of my lashes in the attached image is from about 25 minutes of working on them until I got the look I wanted. The formula is a nice consistency, not too dry while applying, but doesn’t take too long to dry after you’re done. It holds curl well (so far) and the brush is a nice size/shape and really does seem to catch all your lashes very well. ... show more
