The mattress topper is firm and looks to be sturdy. It compresses and returns to original shape. It looks to be a good option for those that want to add a layer of comfort to the top of their original mattress. However, I ordered a 4” King (76” x 80”) and plan to cut it into sections in order to make outdoor seat cushions. This is absolutely the most economical option for purchasing foam. I roughed out the patterns and calculated based upon a 4” thick foam. Before I began to cut the outdoor upholstery fabric and sew, I measured the mattress topper and found that the foam is actually 3 3/4”. I measured mattress and found that the actual measurements are 75 3/4” x 79 3/4”. The mattress has been unpackaged and expanding for several days. I will be able to readjust my patterns to adjust for the 1/4”. So, still a great savings for my project and am thankful that I checked the thickness before I began to cut and sew some very expensive fabric. ... show more

If it is dual-sided, I can't tell. It certainly doesn't look as pictured (with the two distinct sides). Was hoping for more firmness. If you're looking for a firm topper, this isn't it. No smell, was ready to go after an hour or so.
