  • Awesome dock for Steam Deck, great for Desktop Mode!
Style: Without Power Adapter
This is a solid dock! I use this with my ultrawide monitor so I can use my Steam Deck (in desktop mode) as a portable Linux/SteamOS PC. The dock has a USB-C output line wired directly into it, but enough length so it would likely fit other gaming handhelds as well. You've got 3x USB-A ports for a keyboard, a mouse, and an extra peripheral like a storage drive. There's gigabit ethernet so you have a wired internet connection, and a USB-C port for 100W power, which is plenty of headroom if you really intend to crank your Steam Deck or other handheld to its power limits. The dock is aluminum for that sort of premium metallic feel, with a soft rubber/silicone base that the Steam Deck sits on. The base is a little large for the Steam Deck, so it does lean a bit back, but it at least won't topple over. It has an HDMI 2.1 port, but my Gigabyte display is only HDMI 2.0. No matter though, as I can still get an ultrawide 3440x1440 resolution with 100Hz refresh rate. With the Steam Deck, you can only get this resolution in desktop mode, as gaming mode seems to always default to a lower 16:9 resolution (looks like 720p). Some games still run quite well in this resolution, like Minecraft Java and Factorio, though I've yet to run any more graphically demanding titles. The port on the dock can technically support 4K 120Hz if you had an HDMI 2.1 cable and monitor, but I'd have a hard time imagining what you can run on the Steam Deck that can achieve that full fidelity. Considering the rumor mill over Valve possibly working on releasing SteamOS as a desktop OS to replace Windows on gaming PCs, a dock like this can be a good way to get a feel of how things would run before you decide to reformat your gaming PC with SteamOS, which currently can only be done experimentally (and ideally with only AMD hardware). Overall, this is a Deck Dock that I will be keeping beside my ultrawide monitor! ... show more

  • My first 3rd party dock that has managed 4K @ 120hz with my Steam Deck
Style: Without Power Adapter
As the title says, this is my first dock that has successfully managed 4K @120hz in gaming mode with my Steam Deck. I've had some that could do 1080p or 1440p @ 120hz, but none that would allow 4k. This was tested on a 4K monitor that can do 240hz. Does this matter? On a practical matter, the Steam Deck really does struggle at those settings. Even browsing through your library causes huge frame drops if you're trying to do 4K @120hz. If you drop down to 1440p @ 120hz, you'll be locked at 120 fps while browsing through your catalog. On a practical matter, 4K @ 120hz would be best reserved if you were using the Deck as a PC replacement. In desktop mode, you can do basic browsing and office document editing at those settings. Gaming? Not on any practical level. The build quality is nice. I like the aluminum finish with ample rubber padding. The Deck is nicely protected. I also don't mind the larger USB-C cable. It has future proofing for larger systems and doesn't put strain on the Steam Deck while plugged in. I was playing around with the Steam Deck at 4K @120hz and was still successfully fast charging my Deck (using the charger that came with my Deck.) I did not test VRR with this. Honestly, I don’t usually use VRR (especially on my OLED monitor). I like to tune my settings so that I can hit my desired framerate instead. ... show more

  • A Good Affordable Dock
Style: Without Power Adapter
The Maxonar 6‑in‑1 Loot Docking Station is tailor‑made for handheld gaming systems like Steam Deck OLED, ASUS ROG Ally X, Legion Go, and MSI Claw. It offers a robust set of peripherals: HDMI 2.1 (4K @ 120 Hz), 3× USB‑A 3.0, 1 Gbps Ethernet, and 100 W USB‑C power delivery—all packed into a rugged, aluminum body with anti‑slip pads I recently took this on vacation with me to dock up my Steam Deck to the TV at the Airbnb. I had no issues pushing a quick signal through the HDMI port, and it all worked straight out of the box with no issue. ... show more

  • Excellent HDMI 2.1 Dock + 30W Turbo Mode on ROG Ally X
Style: Without Power Adapter
This is an excellent dock for handheld gaming systems like the ROG Ally X, Steam Deck, or Legion Go. It offers multiple USB ports, full HDMI 2.1 support for 4K at 120Hz, and 100W passthrough charging that actually enables 30W Turbo mode on the Ally X. The build quality surprised me—it's made of solid aluminum and feels premium. Even though this isn't from a big name brand, the dock performs like ones that cost 2–3x more. You get three USB-A 3.0 ports, full gigabit ethernet, HDMI 2.1, and a USB-C PD input. Great setup, especially for travel or plugging into a full desktop setup. One of the biggest wins: it works with my ROG Ally X even with a case on. Other docks often don’t fit right, or the USB-C cable is too short—this one’s the perfect length for the Ally X and has enough clearance to fit most cases. For under $40, this is honestly one of the best docks I’ve used for handhelds. It unlocks Turbo mode, has all the ports I need, and doesn’t skimp on build or compatibility. If you’re using the Ally X and want full performance plus HDMI 2.1 support, grab this one. ... show more

  • Fantastic little PD HDMI 2.1 handheld dock!
Style: Without Power Adapter
This is the first gaming handheld dock that I come across that sports HDMI 2.1 tech and this is outstanding! I like to plug my ROG ALLY Z1 Extreme powered gaming handheld to my 65 inch 120Hz 4K TV which obviously supports VRR FreeSync and now, thanks to this nifty dock, I can enable all of these features. Obviously I will play my games at 720p or 900p with low to mid settings and with FSR and Frame Generation the Z1 Extreme can give me 90 to 100 frames per second with dips into 55 to 60 fps which is well within my VRR range. I'm quite pleased with the results thanks to this dock. Other than that, it's a fairly standard dock with a low profile design, easy to store and carry, and decent features. I feel like it's a bit overpriced for what it offers, even though it does support HDMI 2.1. But not enough to drop it to 4 stars. I'd definitely recommend this particular dock if HDMI 2.1 is important to you. If not, you can definitely find much cheaper alternatives that will work just fine for you. ... show more
