  • Solid dock for ROG Ally
Style: Without Power Adapter
This docking station turned my handheld into a proper desk setup. The HDMI 2.1 port delivered smooth 4K at 120Hz visuals with no stutter. Plugging in a keyboard, mouse, and external SSD through the three USB A ports worked without issue, and the gigabit ethernet connection kept things steady online. The USB C power delivery supports up to 100W and even allows the ROG Ally to hit Turbo mode with the right BIOS update. Build quality feels premium with aluminum housing and large anti slip pads that actually keep the dock in place. The only drawback is that it does not include a power adapter, so you will need your own USB C charger to take full advantage. Aside from that, it is a well priced accessory that makes the ROG Ally, Steam Deck, or Legion Go much more versatile when playing on a bigger screen or using it like a mini PC. ... show more

  • Great improvement!
Style: Without Power Adapter
I use this mainly for charging as otherwise I'm keeping my Steam deck shoved in its case taking up a lot of desk space. It's a small change but with big payoff even before taking into account the different ports. The option to have easier access to USB ports makes connecting to a TV feel much nicer and less clunky. Doesn't take up much space but, for the Steam deck, you do have to slide the device a bit to one side if you don't want the lower vent to be covered. Depends on what you're doing if that's an issue or not. Particularly great if you want to keep an eye on updates, a great, multi functional, stand that all around really makes the Steam Deck nicer to use. Well worth it! ... show more

  • Maxonar Dock Almost Perfect But.....
Style: Without Power Adapter
The Maxonar Dock seemed like exactly what I needed for my ROG Ally. More ports, a bigger screen, fast charging it promised to turn my handheld into a proper desktop setup. And honestly it does look good and the display works fine. But the audio is a real problem. It keeps cutting in and out which is super annoying when you are trying to game or watch something. It happens even with normal settings and it is even worse if you try to use Dolby Atmos. It is a shame because this dock could be awesome. But until they fix the audio it is just not worth the money. I am hoping they can sort it out with an update or something but for now I am sending it back. ... show more

  • Good First Impression But Questionable HDMI 2.1 4K @ 120 Hz Functionality
Style: Without Power Adapter
Either I have a defective unit or I'm one of the minority who has actually checked for true HDMI 2.1 4K @ 120Hz functionality. - Positive Initial Impressions - My initial impressions of the Maxonar 6-In-1 Docking Station paired with my ASUS ROG Ally X was positive. The overall build quality is great showcasing a sleek dark gray aluminum outer shell with a rubberized protective lining throughout inside of the cradle. I was impressed to discover that the cradle area's width was also wide enough to accommodate my Asus ROG Ally X sporting a DBrand case with stand. A definite plus for those with larger cases. In order to power your Ally X appropriately, you do need to ensure that you are using a USB-C cable and charging dock powerful enough (100W+) to also power the dock. I initially tried using the ASUS ROG 65W Charger Dock, but it was not able to supply enough power to also charge the Ally X. I then switched to the ASUS ROG 140W USB-C GaN Charger and it worked. - Questionable HDMI 2.1 4K @ 120 Hz Functionality - Admittedly, at an asking price of $39.99, I was skeptical, but I was hoping to be surprised to see if this truly supported HDMI 2.1 4K @ 120Hz as it claims. However, I was ready for disappointment, as this would certainly beat out competitors offering HDMI 2.1 4K @ 120Hz functionality at a higher price point. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Windows Advanced Display Settings would now allow any options greater than 60Hz on 4K despite testing with multiple Certified HDMI 2.1 Ultra High Speed Cables on two different brand new 2025-model year Samsung 4K 144Hz TVs (65" S95F, 48" S90F). I also noticed a noticeable reduction in sharpness as well as input lag while using this dock that was not present with another spare 4K 60Hz docking station I used for comparison and troubleshooting. I will reach out to Maxonar and update this review if it can be determined that this is either a faulty unit or in fact a false claim. I would hope that this unit lives up to its title claims and the "HDMI 2.1" label printed above the HDMI port. ... show more
