Bought for my grandson 10 that used his closet as his “man cave” 😂 He spends hours in it!! I was afraid it would be too young for him. I took the chance since other loft beds were higher and we worried about hitting his head on the fan. You know boys wrestling or being boys!! The cave below is low in height and he can’t sit straight up but can sit cross legged and hunched and loves laying and reading. He is almost 5 ft tall. The instructions were great! The box is very heavy!!It takes two people to put together since sometimes one has to hold a piece while the other screws. If not doing that I would set out the pieces for the next step. It helps to have a bowl to put screws in since there aren’t extra. The bed turned out great!!! One side on the bottom is made to be against a wall since it is open. We liked that since he then had access to a plug for light and fan. We may use the bed longer than anticipated because with open side we will turn it around and use as storage (college dorm style ) Just our thought.

The box was long and heavy so I had to open the box outside wear it was delivered and bring in each piece because it was to heavy for me to get up my stairs but that’s ok. I hired an assembly guy from thumbtack and it took him 4 hours to put together and that set me back 250$ lol but my 4 year old loves it, super sturdy I’m atleast 132-135lbs and my daughter is about 40-45 pounds and we both sat/laid on the bed with no issues I felt safe laying in it with my daughter. The underneath is so cool I’m 5’2 and again about 132-135lbs and I was able to slide under the bed with no problem and my daughter was able to fit with me in there to so we can play house together under there because she loves playing house lol. I got the shelf one because it has more room under the bed as the draw’s in the draw option takes up space in the hide out. I also opted to leave a panel out under the stairs for a window like the instructions say you can if you want a window which my daughter did so she will be able to see her whole room out the window if she wanted. We put a foam mattress topper underneath in the hide out so it’s like another bed down there it’s so comfortable I love the underneath of this bed! The shelf’s provide lots of storage for my daughters cute crafts she and I make as well. We love this bed so much!

Overall solid. Just know it’s basically impossible to put together on your own, and is quite difficult even with two. Expect 4-5 hours assembly. Staircase is legit steep so make sure your kids can handle heights before letting them go up. Also, there’s a version with the staircase at the foot…i got the one with the side/middle entry…I didnt think about this when buying, but holy crap the foot of the bed entry would have been a huge mistake if you read to your kids at night like me. Getting out when they fall asleep would be very tricky compared to the side.

While we were not expecting much from this bed considering its low price and the fact it arrived in one (very heavy) long thin box, my spouse and I were exceedingly impressed by it. We purchased the gray one to coordinate with his gray washed furniture we already had in the room. This bed was slightly darker than those pieces (Baby Caché Vienna line in Ash Grey) but still in the same color family and coordinated well. The height is similar to that of a dorm room bed set to its highest standard height without a loft kit. Its minimalist design and smaller footprint is why we close this particular style bed for our child’s small room. Despite the box being damaged upon arrival, all pieces were perfectly intact and all hardware was included. The most difficult part about assembly is to ensure you are using the correct hardware. Instructions show a breakdown of each screw and bolt included and at each step, they show you which ones you need and also show visual examples of ones you don’t need with big Xs on them so you can understand size comparison. As long as you pay close attention to these, then assembly will go smoothly. All in all, the bed took the two of us approximately 4 hours to put together. This truly is a REAL WOOD bed. It is well designed and even has a middle metal rod support and wooden mattress support slats that get screwed into place. The headboard and footboard use metal plates to connect each panel and is held together by wooden dowel joints, bolts AND screws. The instructions have options for you to decide whether you want the bed oriented with the footboard doorway on the right or on the left. Because of this two-option assembly, the headboard and footboard have a few extra holes and we were happy to see that the kit includes hardware to fill the holes of whichever side you do not ultimately build so the entire construction looks uniform and finished. Our child is 7 and easily fits underneath the loft bed in the play area below. It’s not a large play space but would be a great spot for reading or a storage space for larger toys (in our case Hot Wheels loops and garages will most likely go under there for storage). The height is the perfect height for my 5’4 and spouse’s 6’1 frames to tuck our child in at night without needing to lean over or climb. We also appreciate it’s not too high for him to get in or out of on his own. It seems to support his weight no problem and the slats and metal rod support works well to hold his 8” hybrid mattress but would also be fine to hold an all foam one if needed. All in all we are very happy with our purchase.

Just built the bed flawless. 42lb son jumps on the bed once and the metal bracket snapped off holding the support rod under the bed when the bed says it’s rated for 300lb+, disappointing. Horrible weld job by the manufacturer

Was reluctant from assembly reviews, but my guy who does have some woodworking experience had no problems, it's tight, all parts present, holes aligned, no gouges, rough edges - big pluses!! The big box delivery service & driver were great. Bed is a wonderful size with an amble play area below making a small room functional & orderly. Adding lights below & wall shelving for bedtime books, it's a great piece. Disappointed with Amazons continued use of USPS for my orders as a prime member who does not receive USPS delivery...so the mattress I ordered sat in limbo, never came, but I managed to find it at Walmart on sale & they ship via UPS!!!! It will be here tomorrow.

This is my 4th Max and Lily bed for my kids. Every one has been GREAT! Quality and durability are most important. I have to say this one is my favorite. It's a super cute bed and dresser set and my son (5) ABSOLUTELY LOVES IT! Him and my 9 year old son camp out in the Little Man Cave. I did have a shipping issue for the first time ever with this one. The dresser was sent in driftwood, but the bed was white. It was a pretty painful and lengthy process to finally get the right bed. Still give it a 5 though. It was worth the aggravation. Also, installation was a breeze. Always a plus for me!

Easy enough to put together. Took me longer than I’d like to admit but I took breaks in between as I was doing it myself with a two year olds “help”. Probably 5 hours off and on. Good quality solid wood. I do wish it had some type of sealer on the wood because some of the stain on the boards are splotchy right out of the box. Not sure how it will hold up to dusting and wiping down.
