While we were not expecting much from this bed considering its low price and the fact it arrived in one (very heavy) long thin box, my spouse and I were exceedingly impressed by it. We purchased the gray one to coordinate with his gray washed furniture we already had in the room. This bed was slightly darker than those pieces (Baby Caché Vienna line in Ash Grey) but still in the same color family and coordinated well. The height is similar to that of a dorm room bed set to its highest standard height without a loft kit. Its minimalist design and smaller footprint is why we close this particular style bed for our child’s small room. Despite the box being damaged upon arrival, all pieces were perfectly intact and all hardware was included. The most difficult part about assembly is to ensure you are using the correct hardware. Instructions show a breakdown of each screw and bolt included and at each step, they show you which ones you need and also show visual examples of ones you don’t need with big Xs on them so you can understand size comparison. As long as you pay close attention to these, then assembly will go smoothly. All in all, the bed took the two of us approximately 4 hours to put together. This truly is a REAL WOOD bed. It is well designed and even has a middle metal rod support and wooden mattress support slats that get screwed into place. The headboard and footboard use metal plates to connect each panel and is held together by wooden dowel joints, bolts AND screws. The instructions have options for you to decide whether you want the bed oriented with the footboard doorway on the right or on the left. Because of this two-option assembly, the headboard and footboard have a few extra holes and we were happy to see that the kit includes hardware to fill the holes of whichever side you do not ultimately build so the entire construction looks uniform and finished. Our child is 7 and easily fits underneath the loft bed in the play area below. It’s not a large play space but would be a great spot for reading or a storage space for larger toys (in our case Hot Wheels loops and garages will most likely go under there for storage). The height is the perfect height for my 5’4 and spouse’s 6’1 frames to tuck our child in at night without needing to lean over or climb. We also appreciate it’s not too high for him to get in or out of on his own. It seems to support his weight no problem and the slats and metal rod support works well to hold his 8” hybrid mattress but would also be fine to hold an all foam one if needed. All in all we are very happy with our purchase.

Very, very pleased with this bed. We were looking for something that would offer our 12 year old daughter a place to maintain a permanent fort and this fit the bill. The forts in the living room were getting a little old as I didn’t have the heart to make her take a fort down until I saw that she had stopped using it with any real consistency. She is approximately 5 feet tall and weighs 85 pounds. She is able to crawl in and out with ease, and while it is too low of a ceiling for her to fully sit up underneath, there is plenty of room to crawl around and lean against her pillows to enjoy a book, electronics, or a snooze. The bed itself is able to accommodate plenty of weight. I don’t recall the exact number from the advertisement, but it is definitely sturdy and well manufactured. My daughter and I (mom) put it together ourselves without any issues; took about 4 hours I’d say…we just worked a couple hours over two days. The instructions were clearer than most that I have encountered in my 45 years, with the parts nicely labeled to eliminate guessing. The only tools you’ll need, in addition to the Allen wrenches that are provided, is a drill with a Phillips head bit and a Phillips head screwdriver (to use to tighten the screws and make them flush—the drill at that stage can strip a head). The wood looks like it is painted with a dull, white primer (not glossy or shiny) and has a nice feel to it. Some spots have a little roughness to them, but I think it is the aesthetic look that the manufacturer was going for, rather than sloppy craftsmanship. I also like the option to have the book shelf and drawer on the left or the right…we chose the right due to the configuration of her room. We also chose not to install the drawer itself as it takes up a lot of space inside the fort. We simply glued the face of the drawer on with some wood glue; it just looks like it was meant to be a faux drawer. The bed itself is about halfway up the wall, which is nice as it is not so tall that it overcrowds or make the room look small. You will not need a boxspring with this. She had one with her old bed, but when we put on both the boxspring and the mattress, it made the top of the mattress flush with the top of the wooden sides. Not safe. Using just the mattress itself allows her to have the protection of the wooden sides in the event she rolls at night. I really cannot think of any cons. It is very sturdy once it is assembled and it checks all of our boxes. I hope this review is helpful. I rarely write them, but since I always read through them before I make a purchase, I took the time today. Good luck!

Bought for my grandson 10 that used his closet as his “man cave” 😂 He spends hours in it!! I was afraid it would be too young for him. I took the chance since other loft beds were higher and we worried about hitting his head on the fan. You know boys wrestling or being boys!! The cave below is low in height and he can’t sit straight up but can sit cross legged and hunched and loves laying and reading. He is almost 5 ft tall. The instructions were great! The box is very heavy!!It takes two people to put together since sometimes one has to hold a piece while the other screws. If not doing that I would set out the pieces for the next step. It helps to have a bowl to put screws in since there aren’t extra. The bed turned out great!!! One side on the bottom is made to be against a wall since it is open. We liked that since he then had access to a plug for light and fan. We may use the bed longer than anticipated because with open side we will turn it around and use as storage (college dorm style ) Just our thought.

Update. The most annoying thing about this product page is that it doesn't tell you what the dimensions are of the fort under the bed if you choose the book shelf option on either side of the center ladder. I just went to measure it. It's 33" wide by 72" long by 26" high. Aka plenty of space to be a secret fort. The only things I wish for this bed after assembling it and having it for a couple of weeks: A. For the price, the company could've easily used a VOC free paint to keep our kids safer. Valspar has a VOC free line at Lowes or Home Depot at budget prices. B. Again for the price, the back paneling for the bookcases annoy me. They are very thin and warped so I had to hold them with my feet to try to straighten them out as I drilled the parts together with an impact driver. Not only that, but the shade of color is completely different than the rest of the bed. Okay not a huge deal for a kid's room but still annoying. C. I wish that the manufacturer would put the underside fort dimensions on their product photo. It's very inconvenient to have to search through customer reviews to try to find out how big it is inside of there and then have to just order it hoping your kid can move around there easily. By the way, I'm happy to report that I (5'9") can crawl in and lay down in there easily and so can my 45" 5 year old. It took me forrrrrever to assemble this. Probably 2-3 hrs per night over 3 nights with a lot of 5 year old and household task interruptions. Now, keep in mind that I didn't have much experience with assembling furniture before this so this is probably why. I highly recommend not assembling this yourself without an impact driver. It's nice that the bed came with a screw driver but if you don't have callouses already on your hands and fingers, you will get a lot of blisters with just a screw driver in addition to the allen wrenches. Plus also, and this is really important, don't try to reinvent the wheel (wherever that strange phrase came from) with organizing the hardware into your own ziplock bags or containers. Leave the hardware where it is with the matching labels or you'll make this so much harder. You're welcome.

I am very impressed with this bed. It is heavy and once it is put together is very well made. All the pieces of the bed are made up of solid wood. It took my husband and I about 2 hours to assemble the entire bed. Make sure you take your time and do not lose any of your screws because there is no extra. The instructions were very clear and easy to understand. I like how each step was illustrated and in exact detail. Once built it is very stable and durable. My 4 year old son was thrilled with his big boy bed. The bed is so cute in person. It is comfortable for him. I like the safety bars across the sides that has a little tray that I will put his little tablet on.

Buying the bed has been a complete nightmare! I placed the order on June 5 and it arrived on June 12, and we have still yet to use the bed. The bed arrived broken and all the beads from the moisture packs or dispersed throughout all the wooden pieces and got tiny, toxic beads all over my two-year-old‘s room. The bed arrived in one box which was 146 pounds. The FedEx driver had a hard time placing it on my porch and two of us had to aid him due to how heavy it was. The two of us struggled to get the bed into the house and then down the hallway into my son‘s room when we started unloading the pieces we realize that the tiny beads were in all the crevices of the wood, and had dumped out into my son’s floor throughout his carpet. Following this, we began realizing that the bed was broken in multiple pieces and missing the hardware. I contacted Max and Lily via email and the representative by the name of Kaylee emailed me back stating that I needed to contact Amazon that the company would not help me. I provided pictures and video of the broken pieces and the beads throughout my son‘s room and the box itself and instead the company wanted to make it an Amazon problem. Max and Lily do not stand behind their products nor do they try and make things right. Kaylee emailed me a second time to tell me that I needed to contact Amazon despite the proof I shared and despite the slogan on their Manuel to contact them so they can issues right. I called Max and Lily during their hours and was told that I could mail back the product for a refund. And normal circumstances that would be great but I am 95 pounds and getting it all loaded back up and out of my home after the struggle we had to get it inside seemed like a huge nightmare. When I spoke to the rep, he said due to the amount of broken pieces, they suggested returning the bed that they normally do not replace for parts when there’s more than seven broken pieces. Physically the weight of the bed in the box is absolutely just too much for that. The rep stated he could send me the parts but as of today June 20 I’m still waiting. I did a Google search on this company Max and Lily and found many others have had the same issue with pieces being broken and the company giving a runaround to fix it. Some post even showed where wood pieces arrived with mold and the company were not wanting to help. This has been a complete nightmare. I have not allowed my son to go back into his room because I keep finding the beads everywhere and I’m terrified. He’s going to eat one. I finally had to ask the Max and Lily rep Kaylee to quit emailing me as she was only emailing me to tell me it was not a them issue. Max and Lily have terrible customer service take zero responsibility, and don’t stand behind their product to make things right upon reading reviews. This has been common but amongst other sites and other buyers. After paying over $600 after taxes and still not being able to utilize this bed, I cannot recommend it to anyone and would not even have given them one star if Amazon’s reviews didn’t make me. I highly suggest continuing to look for a better bed and not getting yourself involved in the same nightmare.
