  • Complete junk - disconnects with every file transfer.
As a video editor I need reliable, fast external SSD devices. This is the worst. Disconnects non-stop both with and without an external power source. I am mid project and I have to order a different drive case to finish because I cant even transfer data from this thing - it disconnects within seconds of starting any transfer. Upgraded high quality certified cables did not fix the issue. Attempted to install difference SSD drive - same thing. Customer. Customer support nonexistent. Initially asks me to describe the issue and never responded back. Complete waste of money, only looks like quality but its junk on the inside. ... show more

  • Bandwidth is split with 2 drives, but it still works well.
In general, I am pleased with this item. I am giving it four out of five stars based on the following: 1. The included "U-Bar" Thunderbolt cables do not work at all. I replaced these with a short rubberized 40gbps TB4 cable, and the unit worked perfectly. 2. The 40gbps bandwidth is split between two Nvme drives. This means that practically, this is running in the 1600-1800 range, with a reasonably higher rate (about 2400) if you run it in RAID0. 3. There is no pass-through capability, meaning this will be at the end of one of your TB4/5 branches. As some additional positive things: 4. The unit does not seem to need extra power with TeamGroup MP4 TLC drives 5. The unit stays cool, though I suspect that it benefits from the airflow through the bottom of your Mac mini or Mac Studio. Not sure how well this would stay cool if two were stacked. The entire casing is the heatsink, which is good. There is no active cooling. I would recommend, this, though I would really like to see a quad with a case like a Mac Studio, with a full-bandwidth switch like Trebleet makes. ... show more

  • Looks good and performs well but the install feels like your breaking into it
I was drawn to this dock because it provided multiple SSD support in a sleek enclosure. My MacStudio already has all the ports I need so I didn't need a dock with a bunch of extra useless ports but this dock does seem pretty empty on the inside and therefore overpriced. They could have added some better heat sinks with the space but I assume the whole enclosure acts as a heat sink. My biggest gripe with this device is they put the screws to access it underneath the rubber ring. The instructions tell you to remove the entire rubber ring, but you don't need to do that nor do I think you should because the adhesive is not well suited to removal or re-use. Just peel back enough on the edges to access the screws and then remove them and proceed. This install honestly feels like this product was not designed to open up and is like your breaking into a Mac itself with heating up some rubber ring on the bottom to access screws that it feels like you should not be. It's a very odd choice for them to not have easily accessible screws on a dock that is designed to open and add your own SSDs to. I used a single WD BLACK 2TB SN7100 and the included (clever) cable to connect to my Mac Studio. At first I did not get the NVME seated correctly and the screw wasn't holding it in properly... then I removed it and re-seated it and everything lined up correctly and it worked but the first attempt was weird. BlackMagic speeds are showing ~3200 MB/s. This is more than suitable for my archive needs and I plan on adding a 2nd SSD for TimeMachine backups. Overall I'm happy with the look and performance of the enclosure but removing those screws is just a horrible design decision and the device is overpriced for just a dual SSD enclosure but you are paying the Mac Studio premium. ... show more

  • Didn't work with two drives, only with one.
Didn't work with two drives only with one. I even went and bought an alternative thunderbolt cable in case that was an issue since so many reviews said the thunderbolt cable that's included doesn't work. I'm very disappointed. If I can't get it working soon I will have to return it. What a waste of time and money. I know the drives are okay because when I swap their placement, only one works still but a different drive. So I know they are seated properly, and I am giving it external power too since some reviews said that sometimes helps. This whole thing is so hokey and unreliable. I shouldn't have to swap out parts of it and try so many things just to try and maybe kinda sorta get it half working some of the time. What a joke. ... show more

  • Great on paper. Not so much IRL.
I want to like this, but I also want it to work. If it worked, it would be amazing. That said, it constantly disconnects from my Mac Studio. To reconnect it, I have to unplug it and plug it back in. I purchased two new Thunderbolt 5 cables to make sure that wasn't the issue—the issue still occurs. I also connected it to an external power source to see if that helped. Not only did it make no difference, but the power indicator doesn't even light up if it's only connected to power, which makes me wonder if it even works. It's also slightly slower than advertised, even with overhead I would expect slightly better. But it usually makes it over 3 GB/s, so I think it's doing well enough. The issue with it disconnecting makes it completely unusable, because I can't rely on it to stay connected when using it. I wanted to set it as the default for Mac App Store downloads/installs, but those keep failing since it doesn't stay connected long enough. In addition to replacing cables, adding a power adapter, and running system tests, I also removed the SSD and reconnected it, just to make sure I had a good connection. Still no luck. I'm using a 2TB WD_BLACK SN7100 NVMe (Gen4 PCIe, M.2 2280, Up to 7,250 MB/s) - WDS200T4X0E. I need to get this working or I need a refund. Between the unit itself, the extra cables and adapter, and the SSD, this is getting pricey for something that doesn't work reliably. ... show more

  • Nervous with the Amazon images, but I do know BEELINK, so I took a chance. So glad I did.
Money! As an Apple Developer even my price on Apple Storage is atrocious. I already had 2 x 4TB Graphene SSDs in my desk drawer from Team Group and they worked like a charm. The unit is sleek and matches my Apple M4 Studio Max perfectly. Love it.
