I installed my boom kit (SSBK-7FB) on a Northstar 26gal ATV spot sprayer. I don't see my particular sprayer offered anymore, but it looks very similar to the Northstar16gal ATV spot sprayer that is currently offered. It has the pump on top rather than the side. I don't have an ATV, but use mine in a “Polar Trailer Clam LG7” that I bought from Amazon and they are still available. I use this trailer for a lot of yard work, so did not want the boom permanently attached. When I received the kit, I checked the directions and noticed that I did not receive a “Top Hat Grommet” for the return hose. I noticed that the instructions (Figure 4) said to drill a 3/4” hole for the return. Since the hose has an outside diameter of 3/4”, it couldn't possibly work with a grommet. The hose has to be lubricated just to fit into the 3/4” hole (I used dish soap). I also had to use a small flathead screwdriver to help get the hose started in the 3/4” hole. When I inserted the return fitting (Instructions Figure 6) into the return hose, I had to reach my hand into the tank to push up on the hose while pushing down on the fitting. If you need to do this and are using an old tank that has contained chemicals, you might want to consider putting a trash bag over your arm before putting it in the tank. It won't hinder your ability to push the hose up onto the fitting. Also, if you used a spade bit to drill the hole, there will be some shavings inside the tank and removing them while you still have your arm in the tank and in the trash bag would be the ideal time. I also had another part that was not named in the parts list. It looks like it may be an extra part in case you have a different type pump. Mine is a 2.2gpm pump and I did not need the extra part. It's not named anywhere and there are no instructions for installing it, if your pump requires it, but I believe that is it's purpose. It has a similar lock mechanism as a 1gpm pump I have on an 8gal spray tank that I use to spot spray weeds. When you attach the spray gun hose (Instructions Figure 9), you'll need to be careful installing the old clamp since it needs to be oriented so you can avoid the pump and still get a screwdriver on it. Since I attached my boom to a cart rather than an ATV, I wanted the hose from the pump to attach to the boom fitting from the top and not from the bottom as shown in Amazon's image. I just loosened the two hose clamps holding the T-fitting and swiveled it up and then tightened the clamps. After installing the parts on the tank, I turned my attention to the boom. The boom is wider than my cart and I wanted to protect it from getting damaged in case I drove the cart too close to anything. I cut a 1x3” board so it was a little longer than the boom. This would provide protection for the boom and also give me a way to mount the boom to my cart. I marked 2 holes using the boom bracket as a guide and then drilled holes in them. I attached the board to the boom bracket with a couple of 1/4” bolts with washers on each side. I then used “C” clamps to attach the board with the boom to the rear of the cart. The boom did not come with nozzles installed. They are in the plastic bag with the other parts. Be careful when removing the nozzle caps from the boom, since they have filters installed in them. After removing the caps, I inserted the nozzles being careful to get them pointed in the direction I wanted, then put the filters back in and screwed the caps back on. The boom provides a generous pattern and at 30psi, it is 8' wide and shoots out about 6'. I don't have acreage to maintain since I live in the city so have to be careful with my spray. My yard area is about 1/3 acre and I do have vegetable gardens and lots of flower gardens, so need to make sure my spray pattern is not too wide. In the areas less than 8' wide, I'll need to use the wand or I may lower the boom to reduce the size of the spray pattern. You may wonder why I didn't just stick with a spot sprayer if I live in town. I'm in my late 70's and I still do all my own yard maintenance. I have bad knees and need a little help when applying pre-emergent in the Spring and Fall, especially in the backyard where there is quite a slope. I also spray to keep the bug population down. I'll stick with spot spraying to help keep the lawn weeds in check, but when spraying the entire yard, this boom will be very helpful. BTW, a number of people stated that the directions were not printed very clearly. If you have problems reading them, the same instructions can be found on Master Mfg's site. I included some images that may help you with installation. Edited 10/19/2019 - Finally got around to using it today to spray some Prodiamine pre-emergent. Since the nozzles spray out rather than down, I had to wait for a calm day to help eliminate any drift. I dropped the boom down to 16" as recommended and that reduced the size of the spray pattern to a more manageable size. I attached a short video showing how the nozzles spray out rather than down. My setup worked great! I use a spare battery rather than attaching to the one on the mower and I added a few feet of extra wire to allow me to control the switch from the mower seat. I'm sure there was some drift today, but because I'm so far from the nozzles, none of it reached me. I knew how much Prodiamine to use, but wasn't sure how much water I needed to allow me to cover my yard. I decided to make sure I had enough, so I used 20 gallon in the sprayer. I didn't figure the amount of water mattered much as long as I got the right amount of chemical distributed evenly. I could have used about 1/2 that amount of water. I have quite a few areas that I have to spray with the wand since I either can't get to them with this setup, can't turn around or the spray pattern is too wide. I could probably have figured out the amount of water to use if I had just been using the boom, but wasn't sure when using a combination. I had enough solution to go over everything twice. I didn't mind doing that since it pretty much guaranteed that I didn't miss anything. This really saved me a lot of time. Last time I sprayed pre-emergent, I had my grandson drive the mower very slowly and I walked behind spraying with the wand. This works much better! Edited 2/22/2020: To reduce the drift, I switched to TeeJet nozzles. The parts I bought for the conversion were: a cross nozzle to put between the 2 end nozzles (part 3T38C), a screw on cap for it (part 38027), a 50 mesh filter, 3 XR 11030-VS Xr. I also bought 4 feet of hose since I had to cut the old one to remove it. Be sure not to buy a TeeJet 1/4 turn nozzle since it won't fit through the hole on the bracket (Yes, I tried). Since their 110° degree nozzles require them to be 20" apart and 20" high, I had to move the sprayer up 4" since the original called for it to be 16" from the ground. The reason I went with the 11030 XR nozzle is that it puts out a medium size spray at 20psi and a fine spray at 30psi. To go to the next spray tip would have required me to get over 50PSI to get a fine spray and my 2.2 gal pump can only handle a little over 40PSI when running 3 nozzles. I have to drive pretty slow to get adequate coverage but that's not a problem. This gives me the option to adjust the droplet size depending on the wind. I called support and asked how I could hook the regulator with a side mounted pump. They stated I had to buy a accessory kit. Told them they should inform buyers of that prior to purchasing. I only have a 15 gal, 1.4gpm pump, so decided to connect directly from pump to spray assembly. Worked fine. Some people complain about 7' spray which did not seem to be a problem once I set the spray bar level or slightly pointing up. Other complain about dripping. This occurs on anything that has downward hose connected to an open area. If you want to stop the little bit of drip, you should purchase a system that have shut off valves at the nozzles. Of course that would cost you a lot more than 70 bucks. Item should be made avail to consumers like me for lower price without the unnecessary regulator assembly. First, this is a very cheap price for this type of spray boom. And with that, you will find problems with production. The problem I had was no flow from one tip. Took tip apart and found the plastic elbow was never drilled through. The corner was a solid piece of plastic. Had to drill from both connections and then clear out the trash, without drilling through the side. Took my time and ended up drilling other elbow to match flow rates. Second, the pressure regulation is not going to work. I have a 4 gpm pump and the regulator will not steady the pressure any lower than full flow. But, that works for me. I figured the rate and adjusted my speed to get the coverage I wanted. Overall, worth the price. I could have payed 3 or 4 times as much and ended up with the same thing. If your not mechanical inclined, pay more for plug and play. ... show more

This kit is okay but not great. I unboxed it and read through the directions, noticing that the copy quality was fairly bad. I began to assemble the unit and could not figure out how the lever to send flow to the sprayer could hook up as appearing to be instructed in the manual. Then I tried calling the company (Master Mfg) at the number listed in the directions. A fax machine picked up. No problem, there are two numbers listed...it was also a fax machine/data line. So I tried emailing them at the email address provided. It bounced back. No such address. I did some research online and found a number for “Valley Industries” and called them and left a voicemail. I did get a call back from them. They wound up emailing me some much better photos and diagrams of how the system should be set up. As I continued the installation I realized the “top hat grommet” and I emailed the lady who sent me the better directions and she is supposed to send that to me. So, initially a terrible impression but then when I finally managed to contact customer service they were helpful. ... show more

If you look closely at the information you will discover that this boom sprayer doesn't come with mounting hardware but they should provide a link or an option to purchase this hardware on the same page as the boom sprayer. I never could find information on what hardware is needed for mounting not even on the directions of the sprayer after it arrived. Also pricy for what you get ... show more

Great piece of equipment for $50!! Built better than expected. I know I couldn't have put a package like this together for less money...probably 5 trips back n forth to the farm supply outlet were saved also. I could NOT be more pleased w/ my purchase of this item. It also works perfectly on my 15 gallon sprayer. Photos were a little sketchy in the instruction sheet, but otherwise a very complete high quality kit especially for the price. Made a great anniversary gift for the "Ol Lady"!! She loves it also. Works as describes. You need knowledge on being handy to set it up on different equipment. Make sure you have a 2.0 GPM or greater pump or the spray is poor coverage. This set up saved me hours of hand spraying and now a 1 man job.
